What would y'all feel is fair value for Hall?
I think I should begin by saying that they won't get fair value for Hall because his contract is expiring and the Jets aren't likely to pay him, which I think is something the other teams know. So the Jets have no real leverage to begin with. That said, I gently disagree with Dr. Octopus about Day Three. I was talking in the Breece thread about what I thought was appropriate and I think it's a Day Two pick. I would like a second, but knowing what everybody knows, it's likely to be a third. I'm not sure that's enough, but I'm not the Jets brass.
My thoughts are also colored by something that is becoming more apparent to me, and that is the Jets aren't really looking to win this year. I mean, they want to win, but they're looking to "change the culture," as we've heard so often these past few months since Aaron Glenn was hired. That doesn't usually foretell a win-now mindset, and given that, the Jets might indeed be willing to part with Breece for a third or even a fourth.
Personally, I don't think a fourth-round pick suffices. I'd rather hold onto him for the year with the hopes maybe he recaptures the magic of his rookie year that was cut short abruptly, and perhaps the Jets could then extend him at a reasonable rate.
To sum it all up, fair value would be a second-round pick. The market value is more like a third. There's a difference and the Jets are between a rock and hard place with Hall, and he with them.
