Are we though? I wasn't. I thought he was saying all jobs are open and that everything is a competition. I can't fault him for that. Breece, Isaiah, and Braelon battling it out fair and square. But he also said he likes committees. It was a little stronger than boilerplate coachspeak.

The other troubling thing is that he spoke openly of extending Sauce and Garrett Wilson and said nothing about Breece, who is in the last year of his contract and if he had had a good year last year might already be extended. So that's looming over everybody's head. Are you going to pay a non-premium position the big-time dollars that he's going to demand or could command on the open market? I don't think they are. So their thinking might be to let him walk and get something for him rather than nothing. I can totally see that.

And that's because I don't think they're competing for anything this year and they know it. They're coming into change the culture. How many times have you heard that the past few months. Usually that's not a win-now sentiment.

So I didn't want to overreact, but there are a lot of things pointing to this being very possible.

Yes - but I wouldn't be shocked if they did trade Breece. It may even make some sense to do it even though I hope they do not. But you're right every coach talks about 3 way RBBCs or using 2 RBs in the backfield at once, but once the real bullets fly that rarely happens.

Yes - but I wouldn't be shocked if they did trade Breece. It may even make some sense to do it even though I hope they do not. But you're right every coach talks about 3 way RBBCs or using 2 RBs in the backfield at once, but once the real bullets fly that rarely happens.

I could see it too.

With the smashing success of Barkley, I can see other teams getting excited about trading for a top RB.

But like with any trade, it would all come down to the compensation.

Technically they dont need to extend him - extend Sauce and Wilson then franchise Breece after this yr as teams do with most RBs. I wouldnt deal him unless its a 2d which I doubt he would fetch at this point

This is semantics but it's interesting to talk fair value and market value. As I tend to think more it's ALL market value.

One's value will often differ from market value with "fair" being when my valuation lands above the market's. And of course "unfair", if my valuation lands below the market's.

And all the situations factor. They too are neither fair or unfair. They just are. Last year of contract. Team hesitant to pay. Chance he'll be free agent. All those are huge components that go into the all important "value".

And you know all this, I know. I just find it interesting to talk out loud on it sometimes.

Agreed on value fluctuating depending on situation - all this speculation was from one quote from the new coach. Could be a window....could be a throw away line...could be a draft smokescreen...could be anything.

As for value - the reality is Breece is a perfect buy low for teams in that he is coming off a down year which was post ACL and a team that fell apart. If AG thinks hes the real deal then they can easily sit on him the next 3 yrs for a reasonable amount so no need to deal. If he truly likes the other 2 RBs and is one of those never pay RB guys then he'll likely be dealt for best offer which is likely well below what most Jet fans see as value for him.

Looking at where AG came from - I think he values RBs - especially a 1-2 punch like Monty and Gibbs where both have shown value. I think Breece stays as the lead RB and the other 2 fight it out to be the 2d option.

Much different than the Rodgers hostages lol - Looking at Lazard's contract it would have been an $8M hit to dump him - now they keep him for $2M - so likely a numbers game although final may change based on dead money a bit. They need to find a way to add a weapon in the passing game beside Wilson. Lazard, Reynolds and Johnson are depth and who knows if Corley turns into anything. Nothing really at TE either.

Warren at 7 would be too high to take a TE but wouldn’t hate it only because they need impact offensive players somehow. Would love to trade down with NO or Pitt if Sanders falls (but those things are rare).

Lions drafted LaPorta in the high part of round 2 and that paid off good dividends - I cant see them ok with Rucker as the starter so Im thinking TE is definitely day 1 or 2 pick.

So are you rooting for Warren, Membou, or other? Hopefully we can trade down a few spots. This is the least exciting draft that I can remember.

Id prefer finishing off the OL - but could live with any offensive position really. The defense has enough talent and with AG scheme should be fine - O still has a ways to go.

They need to find a way to add a weapon in the passing game beside Wilson. Lazard, Reynolds and Johnson are depth and who knows if Corley turns into anything. Nothing really at TE either.

Warren at 7 would be too high to take a TE but wouldn’t hate it only because they need impact offensive players somehow. Would love to trade down with NO or Pitt if Sanders falls (but those things are rare).

JSN was such a no brainer. They had just brought Rodgers in, and had the ability to pick the 1st WR drafted that year when it was in fact a position of need, who also happened to be college teammates with their already stud Wilson.

I agree in general about Olu/T...but to be honest, theyre in just as good of a position to draft a completely comparable T right now in the top 10 this year. Olu seems fine-good right now (I'll yield to you guys on the particulars of the o line play) but I don't think he's some sort of instant cornerstone franchise piece the way Bowers seems to be. Bowers is already a top 10 weapon in the league. Obviously all of this is revisionist history and irrelevant anyway as it's with the old regime.

I like Allen Lazard as an NFL WR he's 29 not sure why I thought he was older. I was curious as to what to copilot had to say.

I'm glad to see that everyone is on board avoiding defense in the first round.

Lots of solid reasons to go OL or WR/TE. I hope we draft those three positions with our first three picks. They can draft a fat guy and safety in the middle rounds.

I won't be upset with Membou, but ideally we trade down 2-3 spots and still draft a WR or TE. We are bereft of weapons, but a good RT would help, too. We probably can't go wrong if we draft those 3 positions. Who am I kiddin? We're the Jets. Of course we can go wrong.

I have Graham as a solid top 4 blue chip - pairing him with Q to shut down the run which gashed them last year is the only defensive pick I would be ok with - no pass rusher with upside (unless somehow Abdul slips) or LB/CB/S in 1st 2 rds.
