Fitness test #1 commencing later this evening....

I'm probably going to have to run to the store quick to pick up a new pair of cross trainers. Haven't had any training shoes in my wardrobe in years. I doubt an old pair of lugs are going to cut it.
gonna give this a shot tonight also. I plan on going barefoot; barefoot exercise strengthens the muscles of the feet and ankles. at least until I stub my toe.
I've considered this as well, but am afraid to try it. I know GWB didn't like it. Your thoughts after doing it?
not too bad. my living room is carpeted, with a rug over it, and I threw down a couple yoga mats for extra padding. I did the whole routine in socks, and it wasn't too uncomfortable. not sure if I will change my tune after a few workouts, though.the only thing that was pissing me off was that the yoga mats were slipping, sliding, and flopping all over the place. I blame Shaun T.

The mats may help. My family room is also carpeted with a rug over it.

Day 11 done!

Due to some scheduling conflicts I'll need to do tomorrow's workout before work which isn't my friend...so switched today and tommorrow. Today was now Cardio Power & Recovery. Tomorrow morning is now the easier Cardio Recovery :pointstothesky:

I absolutely destroyed cardio abs and pure cardio today! No breaks, no stopping
This is one of the more impressive things that I've ever read on this board.
can't say i am superhuman though, this morning (i've moved workouts to 6:45am) I was very close to not finishing plyo. I was DYING on the in and out abs. I managed to sneak it through but man it was not pretty. That said, I am moving abs and pure cardio to friday and doing power/resistance tomorrow to accommodate a friend.

Day 2 of recovery week...not sure if I can put up with 6 days of this....I may throw in some Cardio Abs or Pure Cardio just to mix it up.

In order for your body to get progressively better, it needs to heal itself. The recovery week is essential in breaking through barriers. If you don't take the recovery, your body will be more apt to injury.

:goodposting: Coming from the P90x side, I can't get over how much better/stronger I feel after both recovery weeks from phase 1 & 2. Don't guilt yourself into working out too much.

INSANITY has proven to me without a shadow of a doubt that I am the most uncoordinated and unbendable mofo on the planet.

I'm through two weeks with the 2nd fit test tonight. While I had the normal soreness for the first few days, the last Pure Cardio workout (2 days ago) really hammered my calves. In fact, they're still quite sore today. Anybody else have random muscle soreness after the first week or so?

Yes. My calves were sore for the the entire first week. Then they were on and off sore for the second week. The third week my feet started to hurt. Now in the 4th week my hip flexors is feeling a bit weak. I am dying for that recovery week.

Had a hard time getting up this AM. SO tempted to sleep later but ultimately forced myself to get up and do Day 12. Glad I did.

Not looking forward to my first day of dual workouts tomorrow though.

Day 13: Pure Cardio/Cardio Abs

My feet started to hurt about 10-15 minutes in today so I finished the workout in just socks. That seemed to take care of it.

how many minutes does this end up being (I haven't done cardio Abs yet)I do my workouts in the morning and if we are talking 1.5 hrs I may have to readjust my schedule (which will suck) or get up at 5:30am (which will suck).

Due to some scheduling adjustments my Day 12 tonight will be Cardio Recovery, and will be taking Day 13 off (due to NFL Draft Festivities) and then Friday will be my first dual workout (Pure Cardio/Cardio Abs). Not really excited for that either.

Not sure. I can't imagine it will go over an hour.

I believe Cardio Abs is only 10-15mins. long. So, you're probably looking at roughly 45-60mins. total.

Pure cardio wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I caught myself being too tired to do the exercise properly (see high knees) a few times. And definitely took needed a few breaks here and there. I sounded like I was pushing out a turd or small child when I hit the last sets of pushups.

Good. That is manageable.

Yeah, Abs clocks in a little over 16 minutes. You'll be done with both in an hour.

Good advice...I think in the back of my mind I knew that but feel "guilty" like you said about not doing anything really exhausting.I'm sure I'll appreciate this week come max interval training in month 2.

I'm done with week 3. My fitness level has steadily improved. I can easily hit 3 different levels during the warmup phase and am seriously sweating by the stretch.

My ranking of the main programs based on ability to complete all exercises with minimal breaks:

1. Cardio Power and Resistance - I love this and can make it through the whole program with minimal 5 sec breaks here and there to catch my breath.

2. Plyo Cardio Circuit - The Ski-Abs and In and ot at the end of the second circuit kill me. I can only work out through about half of the allotted time and am on my knees trying to catch my breath for the rest.

3. Pure Cardio - I am fairly smoked about 5 min into the main program and need many 10 sec breaks throughout the remaining 10 min.

Thoughts on the rest:

Cardio abs - I am OK until the floor work. I feel major burn in many of the exercises and have to release for 5 sec or so to ease the pain.

Cardio recovery - I keep fooling myself and think it is an easy workout until I get to the pulses. Although you don't do the cardio like the primary, this is still a good workout and only a fluff day when compared to everything else.

I hate that guilt. Hate it!!!You get to a point where you're doing really well, and then all of a sudden the schedule has you 'take a week off'. For me, that guilt is fear of going back to being a lazy fat ###. For each day I don't work out, it gets easier to make an excuse to not workout the next day.

Round 2 of Plyo Cardio Circuit kicked me in the nuts this morning. Specifically, the last set. I was dripping with sweat and crying out with each ab ski, ect. I simply had no energy in my quads. Felt good though.

One week down. No weight loss, but I can tell things are starting to tighten up a bit.

Found out last night I am way more out of shape then I originally guestimated. Went and bought new crosstrainers and a scale the other day. Weighed in at 203. Last time I weighted myself was probably 3 years ago and I had no idea I had gained 20+ lbs.

Only made it through the switch kick routine after completely wearing myself out during the warm up. I got dizzy in a hurry, but probably haven't had my heart rate up like that in years. Going to try to eat better today and start from scratch tonight.

For the first time in my life, I feel fat, I hate it. Always said I would do whatever it takes to get back in shape if I became a fatty, so I guess it starts here.

My ankle soreness is almost totally gone finally. It's my right ankle that's the bigger problem (which was the one I injured worst in the past). Really bummed I had to drop this. Maybe I will start up again either barefoot or with cross trainers or something.

Just been dieting and eating very healthy. Hit the weights this morning. But you guys are doing the real work in here. GB and GL.

Completed day 3. My calves feel like they are on fire. It hurts to walk and no amount of stretching seems to help.

Do you wear any kind of ankle brace while doing this? I've found that even though neoprene sleeves add a lot of stability, though my ankles don't seem to be near as bad as yours.

Probably not a bad idea. Maybe I will give it a go again with some sleeves and cross trainers that have some ankle support.

really started to micro manage my diet (as posted a few times, before I typically ate only once a day - dinner - so having 4-5 meals a day is completely new to me).

So, I had some random nuts/raisins in pantry. Decided to mix up my own "trail mix". Note: Cashews are evil. 1 cup is like 900 calories. And tons of sat fat too. Going to stick with almonds and walnuts. "Meal Two" = 2 ounces of cashews (could have been worse, looked up calories as I ate), 2 ounces of raisins and an apple. Guess how many calories? a whopping 525. Had hard boiled egg whites (x3) and plain yogurt for #1, sushi for #3, so I prob made up for the waste of calories for #2.

1325 for day so far. planning on a turkey burger and some grilled vegs for dinner, so I should stay under 2K (before beer). :lmao:

Yeah I'm having a hard time switching to the diet as well.I usually eat oatmeal for breakfast and every other day have two hard boiled eggs along with it.For lunch I usually eat a Gourmet Chef Salad (no salad dressing) and one fruit (banana, apple, or orange) For my afternoon snack I usually eat another piece of fruit. Supper is usually a crap shoot but it's usually somewhat healthy.

Just finished the first week of this, man this is tough stuff. Not gonna do the diet portions as I already have a good diet that has yielded me some good results, might have to increase the calories though as this is quite a workout...good stuff.

Good possibility I just threw my back out. About 2/3 of the way through today's workout was getting a painful stitch in my side. Form suffered a bit and I felt a bolt of pain across my tramp stamp region.

If I'm able to stand up 30 minutes from now, I'll be ok. If not, plan on having a drunk and stoned Homer around to entertain you for the next 5 days.

After tonights draft I'm not sure I can subject myself to more pain.
:lmao: :Berry:

I hit 140 bpm today. I probably haven't done that in a few years for sure. I was dripping about 15 drops of sweat/minute on the floor during the cool-down stretch. GB Shaun T :wall:

According to wiki, I was working at about 70% Intensity

Example for someone with a HRmax of 180 (age 40, estimating HRmax as 220 − age):

65% intensity: (220 − (age = 40)) * 0.65 → 117 bpm

85% intensity: (220 − (age = 40)) * 0.85 → 153 bpm

Probably true since I took multiple breaks to prepare for basketball drills
