Came across this reading about my beloved Bears

"NFL officials are visiting camp to talk about rule changes and points of emphasis for this season too. One of the big changes will be that the umpire has been shifted from right behind the defensive line to in the offensive backfield, opposite the referee."

Curious to see how this will affect (if at all) teams running and passing games. Could change the way lineman are blocking?

It will mean more holding calls on the weak side tackle and less holding on the middle linemen.

Other then holding calls, I think the bigest change will be on Illegal linemen downfield and QB throws over the line of scrimage.

Well and less offenses using the umpire as a pick on receiving routes.-QG
