iPad (2 Viewers)

opps, sorry! :lmao:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3304

iPad: Does not automatically rejoin known Wi-Fi networks

Symptoms

Under certain conditions, iPad may not automatically rejoin a known Wi-Fi network after restart or waking from sleep. This can occur with some third-party Wi-Fi routers that are dual-band capable when:

* Using the same network name for each network

* Using different security settings for each network

Products Affected

iPad

Resolution

If you encounter this issue, try the following:

* Create separate Wi-Fi network names to identify each band. This can be done easily by appending one or more characters to the current network name.

o Example: Add a G to the 802.11b/g network name and an N to the 802.11n network name.

* Ensure that both networks use the same security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, and so on)

If the issue persists, reset your network settings using Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Dude, seriously, this, like happens to laptops.

Continue your path of utter fail.
 Never experienced that
You've never experienced an iPad either.

The people who hate apple just for the sake of hating apple are a very odd group.I haven't had an apple product since the IIe in the 80's, but they make great products and the iPad is no exception and will only get better. For a 1st generation device it is extremely solid.
I have, lessee here, 5 PC's, 2 of which are laptops (one of which is dead because of it only had the MacBook mag power connection, the other, a Dell that was given to me because it always had issues, and actually had a class action lawsuit filed from people who purchased it due to the poor hardware design), a netbook that had se7en on it that now gives me the Blue Screen of death (that pesky Registry thingy), another Dell desktop that has video card issues (Linux/X-Org seems to hate it), and another that actually works due to I rebuilding part of it. Right now, the only computer that I don't have to hassle with is guess what? The iMac that I'm using to post this on. I won't even bother trying out se7en on this machine either.ETA: My buddy still uses the iMac G3 that I gave him and loaded Tiger on, and it's faster with less specs than any of these old PC's that I have managed.
Our company uses HP and have never had that issue before. Perhaps you are doing something to your PCs since all of them crater on you.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: The more you try to post about tech, the more idiotic you look. You wanna look up complaints Bubba? Go look up HP.

How do you know this since you said you've never had an Apple product in 30 years?
Using other people's. I borrowed a family members MacBook for a week and the quality was a lot better then my Dell. Only reason I don't switch out my desktop is it still works fine, but when it needs replacing there is no chance I buy another pc.

Try modifying something in se7en. You will then Google to find out why you can't. Something about a registry hack you need to do it, like "Take Ownership" due to UAC. Yeah, I have to use a hack to own my machine.

Goggins, HP sucks. I've had two machines which both blew hard drives in under a year. And my other laptop is a HP and it fails to start up half the time. Just gives me a blank screen. Bought it last February in a pinch. CS is no help and said mail it in with a check for $385 and they'll take a look at it. If something goes wrong with an HP there's not much you can do. I tried to get them to respond to an email 6 months ago when I first started having problems with it. Conveniently I never got anywhere with them until after my warranty had expired.

Conversely with Apple I had a Macbook locked and loaded at the store. Had the software picked out to run windows for a work program I had. When I got to the cashier they flagged me up in front of a mob of a line. I was  The lady says "That's the Apple care line" I was :lmao: "Like where people bring in broken products?" She replies "Yep Apple care is $300 and covers your product" I asked her if it was worth it and if the line was always that long. She said it was and some Apple guy in a tie chimed in stating he's never seen a repair without Apple care come out of the store for under $400. After thinking about that and the $2000+ I was about to drop I went across the mall and picked up another Sony Vaio for $1000. Awesome computer.

I'm not anti-Apple. If iPhone wasn't on At&t I'd probably have one. If I didn't have to run windows on the Mac I'd probably buy one. And if I replace my desktop I most certainly will be going with that new monstrously screened Mac. That thing is amazing. I bought the iTouch as well but returned it a day later for lack of 3G and it's lack of memory. Went with the 80G iPod.

My netbook is an HP Mini. YouTube and flash suck on it it. Why? Because although it has an SSD drive, the drive is so freakin' slow with read/write speeds due to it being cheap. To make it work right, I'd have to modify it a bit to put a RunCore SSD in there, just for Flash. That's another $130.00. Hey Goggins. I have to pay another $130.00 to get flash on a se7en HP machine. Aero? Another $30 bucks to add one more gig of memory to run it. Maybe I should have returned it when the wi-fi didn't work.

Report: Google tablet on the way

http://ow.ly/1xE74
Did you actually read the underlying NY Times article? Apple's second generation iPad will probably be out before most of these companies first generation ones (HP and google may get products out this year, but who knows). In that scenario, Apple's already won the home "slate" market.

Most netbooks have the Atom cpu. Atom is the issue for sites like Youtube.

I'm not sure who you're talking about here, but if it's me, I ALSO didn't call him a "hater." Why do I have to "admit" that there's a "problem" with the "limited hard drive space" if I don't think it's a problem at all? And why can't I have the opinion that this sort of machine was designed to have about the right about of memory, given that it's solid state and not an old school hard drive, and given that the tradeoffs between one and the other clearly favor solid state for this device?

Like I said earlier, yes, in the ideal machine, it would have unlimited memory and unlimited power, but there are tradeoffs in the real world and I think they made the right choices given the purpose of this product.
You can do all that...go for it. You are entitled to opinion, but don't pretend that it fits the need of everyone and if someone says it doesn't it's because that person is doing it wrong. That's all :goodposting: Curious...what is THE purpose of this thing? It only has one? Perhaps that's your issue....I dunno.
This only happened in your head.
ok  Carry on.

Why does this seem common, confusion from people who buy an Apple product then are shocked when a better model is coming right after. Did you honestly think that the 3G version wouldn't come out another year?ANYONE who buys the first version of an apple product should know by now that you aren't getting the most bang for your buck. What you get is the "first one on the block" cache that comes with it. Nothing more.
You do realize that every company in the entire world does this, right?Products improve over time as technology improves. It happens with automobiles, it happens with computers, it happens with televisions, it happens with sex toys, it happens with golf clubs, it happens with apple products.
Meh.....this isn't exactly what is happening with Apple though. Apple has the technology ready to go (it's just a couple months later remember), they just keep some of it back on initial release. Using your examples above of automobiles, TVs etc) companies will come out with an entire line of their product for purchase day 1 and costs depends on the features it has. So Sony releases a series of LCD TVs that range from $1000-5000 and what varies is the screen size, number of ports etc. There isn't any "new technology" in the TVs, nor do they come out with another line a few months later. They are generally yearly releases. This goes for the other things you listed also.I like Apple's model actually. It rewards those who are patient with a better product. They spin it very well also. Let's not pretend that Apple's release of the same product with more features is because the technology had improved between March and April....that's just silly. 3G's been around for a while....it's not new.

Ever have a laptop with Linux on it? Heck, I had problems with my XP netbook wi-fi not working or able to find a network.

This stuff isn't new people. All these complaints don't even compare to SP 2 or 3 back in the day.

Get a grip.
Why would they? It's apples and oranges. Let's not pretend here...stay focused. My initial response to this post was going to be about Linux...I have one with an install...never had a network issue with it, including encrypted networks. So I wanted to know what your issues are with your Linux laptop.

Nice to see this thread is still being Goggins'd up while he talks himself in circles.
Actually,Glad you're back....let's continue down that path we were on before they  started again. It's lead to some serious considerations of purchasing stock. Been thinking about that a lot actually.

My ONLY concern with AAPL is that a lot of this momentum is already priced into the stock I think. I could be wrong though. There's little doubt that they're going to have another banner year, though.one trend that holds true with them is buy a few months before a new product announcement, then sell the day of the release. It's fairly reliable way to profit on AAPL from what I recall.

And this is where I'm at. Coming late to the game it's hard for me to tell how much of their future is already in their stock price.

Since you've made the assumption that you need to own the product in order to know if it's great or not, maybe you should stay out of this thread until you own an iPad.Or just stop with your pitiful logic and horrid arguments.

That is not what happened in this case. Both models were announced at the same time in January. Wifi-only had an early-April delivery date, 3G had a late-April delivery date.

Everyone who bought a wifi could have waited for the 3G if they wanted that version. It was not a secret - both models were advertised on apple at the same time/place - with different price points.

Anyone who says they did not know the 3G was being delivered in late April - simply did not look at the three models right below the wifi models.

I do expect an upgraded version of the iPad late this year, prior to the christmas rush - but that may be as simple as the new OS, which will include multi-tasking, and maybe a camera. But I don't think the upgrade will be significant, nor make the 1st version obsolete.

I think the folks who will lose the most are actually the folks who get the 2nd generation product - since I expect bigger upgrades for the 3rd generation - faster, more storage, more features. 1st generation owners, and new owners, will get the 3rd generation product, while 2nd generation owners won't be happy about shelling out another $500-700.

I am not saying Apple deceived anyone either....like I said, it's their model. There are people who can't wait. Apple capitalizes on that segment better than anyone while being completely upfront with them that the better model is coming out. It's fascinating to watch IMO.

Funny but people always seem to think that MacBooks, unlike HP/Dell, etc. have no issues yet Apple tries to sell their Apple care. Why when nothing goes wrong with their products? I have experienced problems personally with Apple computers.I got a free Apple Iphone 2G and you can jailbreak it (if you are running Tmobile).I wonder if people who claim their Apple computers are great cause they never crash also have purchased Apple care and why?

Here is where I think the difference is - you equate 3G as better - I look at it as different.

I have had the ipad now for about 10 days - I have never needed a 3G connection. For the vast majority of my future usage - I will not need a 3G connection. I can envision a time where I am traveling and wish I had a 3g connection - but that is not a critical feature of the product.

I get laughed at every time I mention this - but I do not see this as a mobile device. It is portable, so I can take it with me, but it is not something that I see using while I am on the go - like I use my phone. SO, in the situation above when I am traveling, and the hotel does not have a wireless network in the room - I will use my phone. But, if that happens more than 4 times in the next couple of years, I will be very surprised. For someone like Otis, who has mentioned using it on the train for his commute - a 3g connection might be more valuable.

So, combined with the increase price, I decided this product fits my needs better than the 3G product.

Here is where I think the difference is - you equate 3G as better - I look at it as different.
:goodposting: And being that it costs $130 more plus data charges, I decided on the Wifi.
For me a HUGE selling point for 3G is it's not a contract. Turn it on/off month to month. One month you don't need it. One month if you'll only need a little, you pony up $14.99 for 250MB (A pretty good amount of data). If for some reason you need a ton for one month, just drop $29.99 for the unlimited package. Next month, don't need it? Drop to 0 (free). really really like that.

But, if that happens more than 4 times in the next couple of years, I will be very surprised. For someone like Otis, who has mentioned using it on the train for his commute - a 3g connection might be more valuable.

So, combined with the increase price, I decided this product fits my needs better than the 3G product.
Understand 100%. I consider more flexible to be "better". That's why I used the term.

Here is where I think the difference is - you equate 3G as better - I look at it as different.
 And being that it costs $130 more plus data charges, I decided on the Wifi.
:goodposting: If they were more similar price points, I would've waited for 3G.

Why does this seem common, confusion from people who buy an Apple product then are shocked when a better model is coming right after. Did you honestly think that the 3G version wouldn't come out another year?

ANYONE who buys the first version of an apple product should know by now that you aren't getting the most bang for your buck.
Not like Apple.A car company that comes out with their brand new 2011 model car doesn't come out with one a month later loaded with more features.

You know by getting Apple version 1 that their next version will have more features on it. For people to act :goodposting: that buying a WIFI only product then next month coming out with WIFI + 3G is laughable.

Look at Apple's history starting from their ipod.
Apple announced the 3G version at the keynote alongside the wifi-only version.

Please stop acting like they are sneaking out a 2.0 3G version after getting people to buying the 1.0 wifi-only release. Both of these products are first gen products. For your car analogy, this is simply like releasing a new vehicle while announcing a higher trim package is coming. Happens all the time.

ETA: Yep, Apple is clearly hiding this new "second gen" 3G version. It's a SCAM!! OMG!!!1111!!1!

You're not following me. Why are people complaining about the 3G coming out soon as if they had NO CLUE from the start?

Why does Apple charge a 10% restocking fee if you return it within 14 days? :potkettle:

:potkettle: You buy anything at Target, WalMart, etc you certainly don't get charged a stocking fee. I think most don't practice this scam.

You're not following me. Why are people complaining about the 3G coming out soon as if they had NO CLUE from the start?
You should really let this one go. No one is really complaining as far as I can tell. Everyone made a choice with the information being public. I saw it when it was announced, I saw it on the Apple website, and when I bought my iPad the guy selling it to me told me about it. If some didn't know about it, I don't think they'll get too much sympathy. And really, it's not an Apple thing and I don't know why you're trying to make it into one.

Of course it's a scam. Why does Apple charge a restocking fee of 10% if you buy it in their store but not if you buy it at Walmart?
Because Apple thinks it shouldn't pay the price for those renting their products? Once again, you're trying to turn something into an Apple thing. Dell does it too. Apple's fee actually seems relatively cheap in this regard.I'm not crazy about the restocking fee, but it's certainly reasonable. You realize they don't just take the return and stick it back on the shelf, right? That would be a scam.

More info on restocking fees:

Let’s say you bought an ASUS Eee PC 900HD from Best Buy, and rushed home to open it. After ripping open the box, you realize that its 8.9-inch screen is too small. So you pack the 900HD back in its box, and head to the store to return it.

Congratulations, you’ve just earned a restocking fee! Amazon.com, Apple, Best Buy, Dell.com, and Newegg.com may charge this fee on any opened item. Typically, the amount is 15 percent of the cost of the item, although Apple charges 10 percent of the original price. Office Depot charges a restocking fee only if items such as a cable or manual are missing from the box. Restocking fees generally do not apply to defective items.

HP.com, Staples, and Wal-Mart don’t charge restocking fees on tech products. But, other than exclusively shopping in those outlets, how do you avoid the restocking fee? Don’t open the box. If you discover your daughter wanted the Eee PC 1000HE ($385.17) instead of the 900HD, bring it right back to the store. As long as you have the receipt, getting a full refund should be simple.

Conveniently I never got anywhere with them until after my warranty had expired.Conversely with Apple I had a Macbook locked and loaded at the store. Had the software picked out to run windows for a work program I had. When I got to the cashier they flagged me up in front of a mob of a line. I was  The lady says "That's the Apple care line" I was  "Like where people bring in broken products?" She replies "Yep Apple care is $300 and covers your product" I asked her if it was worth it and if the line was always that long. She said it was and some Apple guy in a tie chimed in stating he's never seen a repair without Apple care come out of the store for under $400. After thinking about that and the $2000+ I was about to drop I went across the mall and picked up another Sony Vaio for $1000. Awesome computer.I'm not anti-Apple.
Most netbooks have the Atom cpu. Atom is the issue for sites like Youtube.
In my case, it's the SSD. The Mini is known for that. The Atom renders AVI files just fine.

iPad: Does not automatically rejoin known Wi-Fi networks

   Dude, seriously, this, like happens to laptops.

Continue your path of utter fail.
I have four laptops in the house and this does not happen.
