iPad (2 Viewers)

Any anyone experienced battery issues with the 3? Mine all of a sudden drains much more quickly than it used to (with no apps running)....and I just charged it all night and it only got to 75% full.
I just let it sit for a hour....dropped 10% of its battery life. I've turned Dow the brightness....4g is off...nothing else running.
Did you ever figure out what was going on with this problem? My girlfriend has the same version and hers is doing the same thing. I'm about to take the Apple Store if I can't find a fix online.

Just picked an earlier version for the classroom. Not really sure I think it might be a 2. Anyway, bought the Zagg keyboard so now it is basically a laptop. We are trying to wirelessly connect Ipads to printers around the school. This is already helping a ton as a teacher and I don't even have my Apple TV hooked up yet. Once that happens I think this thing will change classrooms.

Just got an email from HBO that HBO GO is now available via AirPlay....so I can feed it to my big screen via Apple TV! :towelwave:

what is airplay? In layman's terms please.
Airplay is what you are using when you stream content from your iPad to your TV via the Apple TV box. The biggest complaint I've seen about Apple TV was that HBO GO was not available on it yet.

Don't you already have an HBO subscription that can play on your TV? I though that was a prerequisite for HBOGO
There are more old series available via hbogo than on HBO or HBO ondemand.
Definitely....its like having the DVD set of every HBO series ever made.Although I just tested it by playing S1E1 of The Wire....the Airplay icon is there....the Airplay box comes up and allows me to choose Apple TV....but for some reason I only get sound on my TV and not the video.Anyone know why that would happen, when other things like Youtube are working fine? :kicksrock:

May be a dumb question...How can I put my ipad video onto my monitor or my tv? Can I hook it up with a cable? Do I need Apple TV?I ask because I am considering MLBTV and want to see how easy it is to throw it up on my computer at work or my TV when I am at home...

Apple TV is only $100....that will do it.

better yet, if you get apple TV; there's a built in MLB app so you can stream directly through your apple TV and use your ipad for whatever else you want at the same time

So do I need to buy MLB.tv if I have apple tv?

HBOGO available through Airplay now. Anticipate an app on Apple TV soon.Solid development, even if overdue.
I posted about that on Friday....still unable to get it to work correctly. Getting sound, but video stays on iPad. May try to setup everything from scratch again.

Silly question, but did you update the ap on your ipad? This is what it was doing before they made the update to allow airplay.

You need to have an MLB.tv subscription (same as if you just want to watch on the ipad). The apple tv is merely the conduit to get it to your actual TV, and is a better alternative than mirroring it from your ipad.ETA: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp?product=appletv

Thx.....and...now I feel like an idiot. I updated the iOS and Apple TV app...forgot to check for the HBO GO update....just downloaded and it works. :banned:

Anyone using the mini? How does it preform relative to the regular version? Also - silly to buy one now assuming a new version will be out shortly, or what are the latest rumours?

Apple is losing ground to Samsung, imo. An iPad that can take notes would be a great step up. An iPad that is widescreen is a big step up. An iPad with a USB port is a big step up. It seems Apple is happy with taking steps backward right now.

It seems to me that they are happy selling the most units of both phones and tablets.

And, yet, the stock price lost ~40% of its value in a couple months. Also, the "younger" generation, the ones moving into phones that did not have them previously are buying Samsung. Many "older" Apple users are moving away, myself included. We'll see what Apple does in the near future but others are definitely catching up. Apple is selling on name only at this point, imo.

The iPhone line outsold the galaxy line last quarter.
Interesting way of phrasing it. The iPhone 5 isn't selling as well as many thought it would (Apple included). They continue to sell a lot of the 4 and 4s models. The 5's "innovation" clearly isn't sufficient to induce people to buy the higher priced model (many preferring to take the 4 or 4s for less or even free depending on plan).I'm not sure if the same holds true for Samsung (i.e., if a great percentage of their volume is made up of older units).

Not sure what's interesting about the way I put it. Frm February 1, 2013...
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Apple Inc became the top mobile phone seller for the first time in the lucrative U.S. market during the fourth quarter of 2012, outshining arch rival Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, a report by Strategy Analytics showed.Apple's share of the U.S. mobile phone market, including feature phones and smartphones, jumped to 34 percent from 26 percent, while Samsung's share grew to 32.3 percent from 31.8 percent, the research firm said.Samsung had been the top mobile phone vendor in the US since 2008, the firm said. Indeed, for the full year, Samsung still held the crown for mobile phone sales; it had a 31.8 percent share of the U.S. market in 2012, against Apple's 26.2 percent.Apple investors have recently been anxious about the future growth prospects for the company amid intense competition from Samsung's cheaper phones, powered by Google's Android software, and signs the premium smartphone market may be close to saturation in developed markets.Overall, mobile phone shipments rose 4 percent to 52 million units in the U.S. during the fourth quarter of 2012, driven by strong demand for 4G smartphones and 3G feature phones. But in all of 2012, U.S. mobile phone shipments fell 11 percent to 166.9 million, Strategy Analytics said.Apple sold 17.7 million iPhones in the U.S. in the fourth quarter, up 38 percent from the previous year, driven by aggressive marketing of its new iPhone 5 and steep carrier subsidies, the firm said. Samsung shipped 16.8 million phones during the same period. In the international arena, Samsung Electronics, with a range of handsets, has overtaken Apple as the world's top smartphone seller.

I don't have one, but if I remember right I think it had similar guts as the ipad2 had. Not slow by any means, but it was noticeably different when I went from the 2 to the 4.

I kind of hate my iphone5. It's too thin. The screen expansion isn't that great and didn't help typing at all. It's slippery. Ios6 hasn't done much new. I've had the 3GS and 4 prior to this. Not sure if i will stick with apple for the next one. I also have iPad 3 which was obsolete essentially in a few months after I got it. Had the new release model apple was going to been made public, I wouldn't be so upset. They just went and changed their whole way of doing things and screwed over many loyal customers. Now instead of presuming apple is ahead of others and takes care of their own, I will be shopping harder for my next phone, tablet, computer etc.

I have the 1st gen retina & wife has the mini. Retina screen is nice but the mini's isn't too shabby. All in all I think I'd rather the mini , the size just feels better to me.

I'm still using my 4 , would love the better cam but I'm with you on the feel of the 5. Almost caved but decided to wait it out. Kind of bored with iOS at the moment but with Ive now in charge of iOS I expect a big change in the future. The Galaxy intrigues me but I'm too invested Apple(2macbooks/ipads&phone) to switch.I have the same version ipad as you & have zero problem. Its the nature of tech . Android is no panacea for upgradeitis

I have the 5 and an original iPad. Love them both. Google now is intriguing to me, but I don't like any of the android hardware and the interface feels like its trying too hard to do too much to me. I may buy a nexus 4 and add it to my family plan just for kicks, but I'm a long way from being burnt on iPhones.

I have a 3 and really like it. use it every day. Just curious, is there a reason ipads dont have USB ports?

Universal Serial Bus. When has Apple ever designed a product that easily and universally accepted/connected to other manufacturers' devices? Apple is all about a controlled and closed ecosystem where you expand/upgrade by buying the next Apple release, not simply replacing or plugging in parts.

Apple has included USB in every Mac released since the original bondi blue iMac in 1998.

Excellent point, I should have restricted my broad generalization to non computer Apple products like the OP was discussing.

Question. I am on a web page and see an image i want to link to. When i select the image I have the choice to "copy" or "save image to photo app"But I don't want either choice, I just want the address (www.pic.jpg) of the picture. Is there a way to copy that link information? Choosing the "copy" choice does not make the link available when I try to paste it elsewhere.

can i use one of these (HDMI Cable Adapter For iPad) to watch HBO GO on my HDTV or do I have to go through Apple TV?

Thanks.

Most sites don't want you linking directly to them so you won't see an address for their images. Even if you were able to find the URL in the HTML source, I doubt it's directly accessible.

Option 1:Use Firefox or Chrome. They support this.Option 2:1) Use the "copy" option. 2) Paste to a notes or notepad 3) Copy from notes or notepad wherever you want to go.I'm sure there is a jailbreak tweak out there to skip the middle step for option 2.

Sorry....I guess I am confused of the initial question. I thought he was asking how to put an image on his site as a link from another site instead of an actual file (jpeg) on his own site. Sorry.
