Is a Denver vs Seattle Super Bowl inevitable? (1 Viewer)

This is a good one, glad I scheduled myself off work that weekend.

Though I wouldnt care if it as the Jags and Rams, would still take off to watch.

And yeah, what is a "Sea Hook", and how is that a slam on Seattle?

well there you have it 4 months ago this thread was started and I was predicting this match up before week 1 of the season. Ever since they got Harvin in the offseason I had a feeling Den-Sea was gonna clash with Den winning 34-27....... This will be epic. The funny thing is Harvin did absolutely nothing to get them where they are but if he can play headache, hip, knee inj free in the superbowl, he could be a Big time boost for the lackluster passing game of the Hawks.

yes, it seems so. Can't lie, this thread was one of the first things I thought of after last night's outcome

Nicely done Donnybrook! hope you bet it.
Thanks I guess. No I did not bet it. At the time when I wrote this I wanted anything but the favorites to go to the Super Bowl. I was pretty bitter that my team, as the stats guys would tell me, had virtually no chance of making the playoffs after going 0-3.

If I've learned anything from Peyton's career, it's that early season success is a guarantee to be carried over into the playoffs.
Seattle will be there for sure. Im betting Manning does his typical choke job.
The Cardinals and Texans were both 3-0 this time last year too..as were the Bills and Lions the year before that.
I know it only week 3 but it just looks to me like it will be difficult to avoid. League's best offense vs the league's best defense should be interesting even if it is somewhat predictable. Most people are thinking it even if they aren't already saying it.
Come on......difficult to avoid?

Injuries...injuries....long season, one game elimination.....The NFL is probably the most unknown of all the major sports today.

Atlanta, Houston, Green Bay, some very strong teams still out there.

Denver looks stout.....but they can be beaten by any of those teams any given Sunday.

Seattle.....their offense will be their undoing if they get into a game with a juggernaut on offense like an Atlanta or a Greenbay....so many variables left to be taken into account for....it's week freaking 4 coming up.

Atlanta vs Houston is my pick for the Super Bowl.
Neither team will be there. Forehead can't win outside in the cold in the playoffs. Seattle will choke.

Pats over Packers.

Once both teams are fully healthy by mid season or so, I can see this easily happening.
What a dumb thread.
Seattle won't make the superbowl, most likely eliminated in the 1st round of the playoffs when they face a real team.
Saints would kill Seattle.
:coffee:

Right now yes, but we need to see if someone else emerges in the AFC. I could see a team like Miami upsetting the Broncos in the playoffs.

Looking forward to Philly vs Seattle. I think Seattle wins it, but it could be fun if chip can come up with some new wrinkles.

Eh, Miami still has a long way to go before they are real contenders. They looked good Sunday, but they usually play the Patriots tough. They beat them last December and then followed it up by getting shut out by the Bills. Let's see if they can be consistent and actually having a winning season first.

I have a tough time seeing anyone beat Denver in Denver. They have the ultimate home field advantage with the altitude. So if they get home field advantage, which it looks that way, they've probably punched their ticket to (edit) Arizona, barring a meltdown.

The likeliest teams to beat Denver are in the NFC, so fire it up again.
Devner isn't even close to being on the level of the Hawks or the Niners. In fact if any of the AFC teams played in the NFC they would get beat down by the likes of Green Bay and the Saints as well.

Seattle showed last year in the biggest game what elite looks like, Denver is not that.

So they will miss the Super Bowl and spend the weekend golfing?

Here's the truth: for teams like Seattle, SF, Den, NE, GB, and NO, playoffs are almost inevitable. It's a matter of hitting the post-season healthy and playing at home. These teams have a fairly clean road to division titles and/or wildcard - barring injury, it's tough to imagine these teams missing the playoffs. It's simply a game of attrition from here on out.

The next tier includes CAR, PHI, CIN, BAL, IND, and a few other teams. These guys should make the playoffs. For them to advance, they will need to be healthy and have a little help knocking off the first tier teams. Not impossible, but they need a little more than health.

FTFY

Their O Line is healthy - much stronger with Ryan Clady being back. They were seriously outmatched/outsized last year in the SB.

They have upgraded their D quite a bit, adding 3 probowlers, and great depth at many positions. (i.e. They cut Kevin Vickerson)

Their O can be just as potent though I think Moreno > Ball and losing Decker sucks but Sanders wont be the same receiver he was in PITT and JT only gets better this year.

I can fully see both of these teams making it back for a rematch, however, the playoffs are a long hard road, and I could see neither of these teams making it back. Any given Sunday.

Last year they could of played the SB 10 times and thats the only time it turns out that way...noone could of expected that. I thought SEA had a great chance to win because their D was rediculously good. No way in hell did I think it would be a blowout either way.

Nothing is inevitable after week 1. I'll say that Sea looks far more likely to get to the SB than Den does right now.

The Broncos have lost 4 home playoff games overall including two in the past 10 years . . . the most recent one being 2012 against the Ravens. Yes, they have an advantage, but I don't think it is insurmountable.

Truth, but it's like the 12th man in Seattle. That they train in Denver vs every other team spending at most a week there is already a huge advantage. My point, even going back to last season, is that away from Denver they are much, much more beatable. But in Denver I would probably favor them in every game. Peyton's figured it out and clicking with his offense. There is no other stadium with which you'll find defenses looking for so much air from oxygen tanks.

Where in my post did I say anything to dispute that?

No chatter about the rematch this week?

I think it would be a much better game if it were in Denver. This will probably look like a continuation of the Super Bowl, especially with Seattle coming off a loss.

Nice work. Watch the Jets or Cleveland game last week?

Do like the avatar, though.
