SD side

Rivers - think I pass against the Raiders Pass D, last time they played he had 180

LT - I guess if you have him, you got to start him.... I guess

Gates - the past month has been a disappointment, he doesn't have 10 catches in the past 3 games combined

VJax / Chambers - Like Rivers, I might think about passing on these guys to.

Oak side

Fargas / McFadden are the only guys considered starting... SD run D is pretty bad, but I'm not sure I would place my FF Playoff hopes on one of these 2....

anyone starting any players in this game

I started TE Zach Miller (who has his best games agianst SD) over an inconsistent Sheffler and a useless Winslow (who's hurt too).

I am starting Jacob Hester and figuring Tolbert won't play. Look for several goal line touches, with at least one score.

didn't LT tear up oakland earlier in the year? him and miller are must starts imo. SD hasn't covered a tight end all year.

I missed the playoffs like many that had LT this year. I'm guessing he goes for 100 yards & 2 TD's tonight just to piss off all of us owners that missed the playoffs..

Must play: LT, Gates, Kaeding

Borderline plays: Rivers, SD def, Fargas, McFadden, Janikowski, Vincent Jackson (Asi is going to shut down Chambers)

I agree with LT, Gates and Kaeding on the Charger's side. But it appears to me that Rivers has preferred M Floyd over his other wideouts as of late. I wouldn't start any of them regardless.

I'm considering starting Fargas as my Flex it's between him Kevin Smith (which will not happen if the Williams' play) and Chester Taylor. :lmao:

I am keeping V Jackson on the pine for this matchup. I expect it to be a LT/Gates fest with table scraps going to VJ.

I am starting Kevin Walter Hou WR over VJ.

No offense man....but I couldn't imagine starting Hester in week 1 of the fantasy playoffs. Do you literally have no other options?

I'm going with LT over MJD this week at RB2. He's been a healthy scratch for me for weeks, but if ever there's a game when he's going to go for 100 combined yards and a TD or 2, this is it.

I don't know if LT is a must play. In a shallow league, I have Hillis, S Jax as feasible options.
Are you at all worried about the return of Selvin? I realize that Shanny has said that he is rolling with Hillis, but but one fumble can change a lot of things in Denver. I don't think that LT has that worry.

Bit your tongue.signed: TL opponent.

That's the world I'm in too....Carried me to a championship last year and is pretty pedestrian this year. I mean, top 15 isn't bad but it was so up and down so that in his down games he really killed me. Oh, and I have him not only under contract for next year but with a no trade clause..This game tonight isn't even watchable to me. If LT tears it up I will be pissed that he didn't do that all season. If he stinks up the joint then I'll be pissed because he did that all season!?!?! I may just be checking the stats tomorrow on this one...

LT/Gates/Kaeding - Oakand CB's should give Chambers et al fits, and Gonzo did light it up last week....praying Gates is decent tonight.

SD gives up tons of points to opposing TE's. Roll with Miller, unless you have one of the big two or three at TE.

Tomilinson is a must start tonight.... thinking otherwise is over thinking.

...just look at the cheatsheet ranking : :coffee: ;

I guess I will roll with the SD D tonight. It will give me something to watch and I can hope they get a shutout with a possible Defensive TD.

In non-PPR standard formats, San Diego gives up 11.5 PPG to opposing TEs.

NY Jets are the second worst at 9.5 PPG to opposing TEs.

Philly, Denver and Detroit are the next 3 at 7.8, 7.8 and 7.7.

That is a huge abnormally.

Meanwhile Zach Miller has quietly moved into the top 5 TEs for receiving yards - more on the season than Gates, Dallas Clark, Keller, et al. In the first meeting, he went 5-95 with a TD.

 I'm starting Stephen Cooper and my opponent is starting Gabril Wilson.

But on offense, there is one team in our playoffs starting V-Jax.

Going with Gates in two, V. Jackson, Fargas, and Z. Miller in one.
I'm starting to warm up to Fargas, the running game is the only offense that the Raiders have... they will run heavy as long as the score doesn't get out of control.

Oakland has a pretty good secondary so I'm not sure Rivers is going to be a good play and I would downgrade Gates and the WRers because of that. I think LT should have a good game running as Oaklands run defense is somewhat suspect. But if you don't have any better options like me Rivers>Gus Ferrotte (great match-up but Frerotte - just don't trust him) I would say start Rivers. He's had a couple of bad games - hoping that will charge him up LOL for a home game national audience game.

SD defense
I'm wondering about them myself. Is there any way they can shutout the Raiders or get multiple sacks and some Int's with a possible Def TD? My other option is to start Dallas D against Pitt on Sunday in the snow and wind. I'm relly torn on this one.
I'm with you guys here... at the beginning of the season SD's playoff schedule had me stoked but here I am and I think I must start Buffalo's D against Miami over SD against the lowly Raiders

I somehow ended up with the whole SD team via trades and WW pick ups....Rivers -Chambers-L.T and the SD d/st...of that group the only viable starters tonite are L.T and SD d/st....Rivers gets the bench and Thigpen gets the nod this week

For those of you that are very bullish on LT tonight, can you answer a few questions.

#1) How much have you watched him play over the past month

#2) Other than past history vs. Oakland, why do you think he'll suddenly have one of his better games.

As an FYI, I am a big LT fan....drafted him with the #1 pick...and watch him via Sunday Ticket as much as I can. He's just not the same guy anymore in my opinion.

As an LT owner all I can say is that his performance has been very disappointing....however, he is still putting up solid rb2 numbers. I read somewhere that in ppr leagues over the past 5 weeks he has been top 15. Granted, not what we expected when we invested our #1 overall pick, but still a solid play.

I guess I just don't see how on earth he will suddenly rush for over 100 yards and score 2 TDs tonight, as many are predicting. But sure, I see him being the 15th best RB this week...which is consistent with his performance all year.

I have LT, and I am starting LJ over him. I think LT will be decent due to the Raiders pass defense, but he has not been the same lately due to the toe and the o-line play. In the last contest with the Raiders he broke a 50 yard play on a broken assigment. That may happen again but he only had 109 total yards. The td's were nice but hard to predict. LJ had 198 and 2 td's, and Denver's defense could have given up 200 to Jones last week if the Jets would have kept running the ball.

I don't think many here are predicting 100 yards and 2 TDs rushing. I'm hoping for 100 yards combined and a score -- close to what he did last week.

At this point, I treat LT just like any other RB 2/3 -- some weeks he plays, some weeks he sits based on matchup and what my other options are.

My other RB2 option this week is MJD @ Chicago, so compared to that, LT is definitely start-worthy this week.

Also, people here are talking me into starting Zach Miller.

In the playoffs, I kind of like having some players from the Thursday Night game. If I get off to a good start, then I can go with my more consistent QB and WR3. If I start off poorly, I might go for more of a high-risk/high-reward approach.

LT is 11th in my PPR scoring league. Hoping he can have one of those old LT days when he'd have 26 carries 143 yards and 2td's with 4 grabs for 43 yards and another TD!

aHHHH i can wish...

Chargers running game, led by LaDainian Tomlinson, vs. Raiders run defense, which is ranked No. 29 in the NFL. In his last game, Tomlinson got to go against Atlanta's 30th-ranked run defense. But the result wasn't what was expected, as Tomlinson rushed for 24 yards, the second-lowest total of his stellar career. This is too big of a matchup for the Chargers to overlook, although their running game is a shadow of what it once was. With the return of RG Kris Dielman to the lineup, the Chargers could have more luck running the ball after being stopped time and again by the Falcons. :kicksrock:

GAME PLAN: The Chargers have gone to a pass-first mentality, but that might not be the way to attack the Raiders defense. Instead, the team could go to a throw-back mentality, when its running game was among the best in the league.

The Raiders are having issues stopping the run, and it figures they will encounter a ticked-off LaDainian Tomlinson. He had only 24 rushing yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons and will be bent on showing he and the team aren't yet finished.
