Is this a wave of the future....less and less redrafts or is this time of year just busy with dynasty sign ups. You cant find a redraft with an opening now.

I love auctions...and dont think I could give up on the idea of redrafts altogether, but I do enjoy dynasties very much.

What are some of your thoughts? :goodposting:

I play only dynasty and honestly i dont think i could even draft a re draft team. I's like to try an auction league but dont know much about them but sounds like they could be interesting.

I enjoy dynasty leagues more. Dynasty teams benefit from being involved year-round with trading, waivers, and NFL news, and that has increased my enjoyment of fantasy ball. Other people prefer redraft. Neither one's better, it's just a matter of what suits you.

:banned: What he said. I am still involved in one redraft that has been around for awhile and is a bunch of friends some of which don't want to get involved in a dynasty. I enjoy the dynasty much more than a redraft because of the following conditions:1. A dynasty league is active year round. Between trades, trading picks, rookie drafts, Free Agents, the activity in a dynasty never stops.2. Shows more the skill of the owners. I will admit, I have never been involved in an auction draft, but in a dynasty it takes alot more than drafting from the right spot. Player evaluation, drafting the right rookies, making good trades takes alot more skill.

I can understand that....personal perference is definately a part of it

I prefer dynasty or keeper as well. The way I see it I'm not as emotionlly invested in my redraft team because I'm only renting those players for the year.

I play in two to three redraft leagues a year and 5 dynasty leagues and I feel the same.

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't play dynasty and never will. All it takes is one bad owner to ruin the league for years. I just don't want to invest the time and then see a league fold 3-4 years latter.

Based on? Someone told you about this?

I'd ask you to explain, but you've never played in a dynasty league.

If the commish has a clue, one player can't "ruin" a league, dynasty or otherwise. Let alone for 3-4 years. :X

I play in well too many leagues, but my preference in order is

dynasty

contract/salary cap

redraft

keeper (less than 1/2 roater)

I dont think this myth is far from what alot of people think, although my experiences dont support this. It is possible for the league to feel short sided with a bad owner....that is true. And finding replacements are not that difficult, but a quality owner can be harder to find SOMETIMES. I think dyansties are a requirement if you are a diehard fan. At least try one, and see how things go from there. They are very very fun, and very available. The best part about them is a more dedicated group of people staying together. Redrafts (except for local ones) dont always carry that. Of course if feels good sometimes to get rid of the jerk of the league too! LOLI was mostly saying I like to draft.....so commiting only to dynasties is something hard for me to fathom. I still like both.

I wondered the same thing a few weeks back and started this poll. Most seem to favor dynasty

Dynasty vs Redraft Poll

I signed up for four different dynasties this season.

1. Contract/Salary

2. Contarct/Salary 32 team league

3. MOX league

4. Regular Dynasty

I still have my local league with friends that just went to keeper last year.

While the draft is the best part of football, I am tired of the renting players system that some have mentioned already. Its a preference

Most hard-core FF players seem to eventually get involved in more Dynasty leagues than Redrafts (BASSNBREW notwithstanding) as the year round aspect feeds the craving better.

That being said, there is nothing more exciting (from my perspective) than being in room with 11 other owners and completing a live draft in 4-5 hours - a Dynasty could be done that way but most go at a more leisurely pace on the internet (12-24 hour time limit for the next pick to be done).

I do although I am still in a few redrafts.

Fair enough.....Acer....is this the first year you are trying dynasties? You have a good array of dynasty styles listed.

Do you like the Contract salary league? And was it hard to get use to/adjust?

This will answer the two posts above. This is my first year in that type of league and we have not started drafting yet. Ill let you know how I like it

Based on other leagues I've been in. One league blow up over a trade. Another folded when half the owners had more important life events come up...job relocation, building a house, marriage, etc. Another league will likely fold over a payment issue. Add to that issues where a couple of bad trades can so severely impact the competiveness for years for years and I've just haven't gotten excited about dynasty. I realize there are some great leagues out there, but when you're starting from scratch you just never know.Beyond that, I absolutely love the draft and having a full compliment of players available. Getting together with a group and spending a few hours talking trash and stragizing is the best part for me. I have been in a couple of keeper leagues and the draft never was as exciting for me.

Lastly, I was just giving my opinion, not knocking those who enjoy dynasty better.

I love dynasty the most but do a mix each year. As stated many times Dynasty is more year round. Most I play in (7) have to drop players in March. Have a Rookie draft in May or June. Drop players for the Vets draft in July. Have vets/FA draft to fill out rosters in Aug. Usually I also fine better competition. Probably because most have played FF for a number of years before trying a dynasty.

I also do 1 - redraft, 1 survivor and 1 all auction league.

I've not seen an honestly run dynasty closing after 3-4 years. Yes some times owners leave bad teams. With good rules these team are wanted by good FF players looking for challenges. Nothing is more fun than taking over a really bad team and turning it into a winner in 2 to 3 years. Drafting and trading is fun in these leagues. It effects the team for years not just this season; like I blew it so start over of redraft.

Agreed. Which is one of several reasons why the keeper with an occasional clean slate is great.

I play, dynasty, keepers and redrafts.

Keepers that have an occasional clean slate every couple/few years are the most fun.
My local league is an auction keeper (9 players/3 year max) league with a rookie draft. The rules are always a work in progress but it is my favorite format.

One of the true positives to our hobby is the options. *I* prefer redraft leagues because it is an annual contest to see who can manage the best team NOW. Success and entertainment now is what's most enjoyable for me.

Dynasty is more challenging as to the depth of it all, and once you think you have mastered redrafts (or been successful enough) you want more. Thus, you are a hardcore FF player.

Most aren't hardcore. They do it for fun and in passing. They don't scour NFL news in March. They watch NBA, NHL or wait for baseball to start.

Also, ALL high stakes national contests and leagues are redraft. Dynasty national contests may never happen, as the # of owners is just too small (and it is hard to get them to pony up for bad teams).

Oh, that's no regular dynasty league you've joined! :goodposting:

You are one of the many who have confused complication with hardcore. Happens all the time.
