Is it OVER for the Patriots? (1 Viewer)

Brady will be 35 next season, the Pats may have 1-2 more years to really make a run.

BTW, they gave the MVP trophy to the wrong guy. It should go to Bernard Pollard.

I believe New England wins with Gronk being healthy.

No running game, bargain bin wide receivers, a qb who makes awful decisions in the fourth quarter and has a habit of throwing scratch yer head deep interceptions at the most inopportune times, a swiss cheese defense...yeah, I'd say their time is past.

Too bad.

If they can find a big, fast STUD receiver in the draft (like, say, Nicks), that offense would be STUPID!

Can't imagine the criticism a qb like Joe Flacco would take if he played to Tom Brady's standards.

U believe wrongly...Oh no here comes the 'if' parade.....maybe if brady , tommy terrfic not the best ever qb, didnt throw that bonehead pick to blackburn the giants dont win? Nothing to do with Gronk..they beat gronk and pats in NE earlier this season in NE...you can believe all you want stop hating on NYG..they have beaten pats when it matters most , twice now...

 Who's "hating" on the Giants? Other than the 18-1 game, this was my favorite non-Raider game ever.Just stating the truth. Gronk was about 50%, if that. The Giants knew he had nothing. N.E. led most of the game as it was. With Gronk at full strength, I feel comfortable saying the Pats win tonight.

Agreed 100%. They pretty much left him alone. Gronk's playing and it's a much different game. Pollard for MVP

I think Brandon Lloyd signing on the cheap to stick with McD would solve that need and allow them to draft for Dteam is far from over. Only 1 team per year wins a super bowl. For them to make that many is pretty amazing

Two #1's, two #2's and a healthy cap-situation...they've still got a few more years of contending left in them but they have to add some more play-makers...especially on D to get over the hump...

True but on the flip side people on this board would have said Brady was the all time best Qb.So the stakes are high with Brady, no doubt. In the end, he's one of the all time greats.

It's certainly coming to a close (Thank God!), but it looks like they have another soft schedule next year. The AFC East faces the amazing NFC West.

I think they need to start seriously considering giving Ryan Mallett some playing time. The future is going to happen before you know it.

Brady will be great again next year. Those 2 Tes are only getting better, Welker will be fine.

They need to add some secondary help and sign another vet WR. Cinco was a bust, they could use another solid WR.

Seattle and San Francisco aren't exactly patsies. Arizona's defense came on strong toward the end of the year. But the Pats will be around. Vereen and Ridley will have a full year under their belt, and they'll probably pick up a deep threat for their receiving corps. Brady's not done. Their offensive line is still excellent. I also can't imagine them not picking up a corner and a linebacker.

 The 49ers had that division locked up by like week 8. Seattle is awful and so are the other two.

I am just happy to see Boston get their heart ripped out again. Just fantastic, first the epic Red Sox choke and now they get beat by the Giants again. Yeah I am a hater.

IMO Brady has a few more elite years left and as long as he is around, this team is going to be a top contender.

Seattle is actually looking much improved. They finished 7-9, and Football Outsiders had their weighted DVOA (taking into account how they were playing at the end of the year) as 12th out of the 32 teams. I watched Seattle all year. They're big and tough on defense, have two of the best young safeties in the game, two big, good cover corners, and a stout run defense. Their offensive line, which was a problem at the beginning of the year, got quite good as the season went on. If they can snag a QB or develop Jackson for one more year, and re-sign Marshawn Lynch, they're playoff contenders. Regardless, NE gets them at home next year.

Weird question to ask about a 13-3 team who just came within a few minutes of winning another Super Bowl.

No, they're not done. They just weren't good enough today.

They were a Lee Evans B12 shot or slight breeze to the right from not even making it to where they were. 13-3 or not, this was not a dominant Patriots team.

They werent very good when they finished 14-2 last year either, or 10-6 the year before that, or 11-5 the year before that, or 16-0 the year before that, lmfao.

The Pats had to turn over a lot of their roster the last 2-3 years, they were supposed to be rebuilding on defense. They managed to get to the Super Bowl along the way. They will be better next year, it's not over and it won't be until Brady retires and then BB retires, maybe they go out together.

Never said they were dominant. And so what if they'd lost in the AFC championship? The Patriots are the only team in the league that people ask if they're "done" when they don't make/win a Super Bowl. The bar is absurdly high.

Probably.

Jets, Bills, or Dolphins are not overtaking them anytime soon and that crummy division will give them a shot at a bye and or home field for the next 2-3 years. Steelers and Ravens are also getting old and/or going through transitions. The Colts are going to rebuild. The challenges in the AFC might have to come from other teams. Texans?

Not a Pats fan, but it just looks to me the Giants have the best team to exploit their weaknesses.

Pats will still have a punchers chance the next few years with Brady.

This question was asked right after haters for the Patriots were biting there finger nails waiting for a Brady comeback.

Seems like a thread just to hate on a guy who already won 3 SBs if you ask me, and you did.

I agree with your post, but the upcoming teams to watch in the AFC are the Bengals, Texans and IMO the Titans.

I think Wes needs the Pats as much as the Pats need him. He won't be as successful anywhere else. Maybe the saints. He and Brady are in sync. And that will need to be rebuilt if he choses to leave.

With those 2 TEs, welker, and a piss poor division, I think they will be around for a bit.
I believe Welker's contract is up. I could see BB letting someone else pay his market rate.
Don't see that happening...he'll get franchised before he walks...they are very thin at WR and he's way too important to their offense...

If a healthy Peyton shows up in Miami, this division could change in heartbeat.

Remove Brady and they are a 5 win team. Brady will be 35 when next season starts. The dude isn't immortal.

I don't see any reason why Brady won't continue to be an elite QB for a good number of years still and even if he's not there, I don't know that Mallett won't be a solid replacement. We already saw that this team can be more competitive as 70% of the league with a replacement like Cassell at QB so I think they are fine there.

They have a lot of draft picks, as usual. They usually aren't major FA players but there are a LOT of FAs out there this year and they could use a pass rushing DE. I think they get on in FA or the draft.

If someone wants to say "its over", then they are obviously saying it in the context of "against the patriots own elite standards". Yes, they may not be going to Super Bowls every other year.

But as far as being one of the perennial best teams in the NFL, I don't think anything suggests they won't be in the running each and every season for quite a bit longer.

I think it's Mallett's time. He sat for a year, was the best prototype QB in the draft last year and was sabotaged by the honesty of his childish exuberant history. We have seen time and time again that loyalty gets you nowhere in this league and Brady as of now is still worth a good deal. So wouldn't it make more sense to trade him now, then try to do it after the wheels fall off after next season or 13?

Brady's still a great QB with at least 3 years left and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays till he's 40.
