Is Pelosi fit to be in office? (1 Viewer)

I've listened to people talk about Joe losing his mental capabilities for a year now.  Heck, Rubio and folks are talking about Putin being off.  Well what the heck was up with Pelosi tonight?  She talked during Biden's speech.  She rub her fists together like insanity had set in. She bounced up and down during the speech like her brain was disconnect from her body.

Quite honestly I'll take my chances with Biden being fit to lead over Pelosi after tonight.

Meh, she's fine.

Most Democrats, from what I can tell, seem to think that if she wins in 2022 it will be the last term she serves and will retire after that.

Total distraction during the speech especially in contrast to Kamala who did a very good job . Pelosi looked like she was chewing her cud at times , sucking her teeth or dentures and then fidgety with her lips. Constantly

You don't think the fist rubbing thing was a sign something was off?

Also not a fan of her constantly yapping to Harris during Joe's speech and potentially distracting him when it was his stage.  Very unfair to Biden.

But what about the fists in the Hulk pose?

Yeah, Kamala looked like the  adult in the room.

Pelosi is my favorite.  She’s like a degenerate sports gambler but politician style.  Coked out of her mind, balls deep in stock options, and a politician so she cheats and knows what stocks to pick so she always wins.  It’s like knowing the sports injury report before anyone else.  And she doesn’t care that everyone knows this about her, and goes super far right capitalist Republican when anyone asks her about stocks.  I got a crush on her. Top 5 favorite politician right now. I wish anyone in my life would talk about me the way she talks about Joe Biden.  Would love to see her and Donald Trump have another gun control conversation where she was in awe of him just making #### up he didn’t have power to do. It was almost like Trump was trying to hit on her showing his manly presidential power, but he better watch out cause Nancy’s my lady.

Agreed.  I  didn't watch much, but during the part I did see I was completely distracted by the mouth movements and all the facial expressions while she scanned the crowd.  She looked much more interested in who and what was going on out there than anything the president was saying.

Yeah, right.

From what I have read,  Nancy Pelosi does not drink any alcoholic beverages, so her being "Coked out of her mind" seems an absurd accusation.

Wife made several comments about her throughout or however long we managed to listen to it. Same type of comments you are.

Does anyone know what "Go Get Him" meant? It was at the very end and I missed it.

It's a a slightly older, though not uncommon rallying cry.  I've heard it in person, and on tv and in movies.

You can Google it

We have way too many baby boomers still holding critical offices.  These people need to be out playing pickleball or whatever old people do these days, not running the country.

Worst generation ever.
In academia, they have to carry many of them out. I also see it in the medical field. Instead of abruptly going from an old team to an inexperienced team, I think the old team needs to help the transition to the new team,  while they still have all their marbles, and before they're forced out. But people don't wanna give up power or money. RBG, is an example, RIP.  In Florida, shuffle board and trips to the casino are popular.

More hate for the boomers. Geez are we really that bad. I mean boomers are some of you guys parents. I agree thought get the old farts out of office time for them to retire. I retired at 57.

One other thing Joe and Nancy predate boomers as do quite a few of the other ancients that are in office.

None of those people in that room are fit for office.
I kinda feel like I agree with this.

To answer Bass' thread title question: My answer is NO, she is not fit for office. Not because she's not good at being the Speaker of the House, she is quite good at that part of her job. It's because of her blatant disregard for restrictions placed on congress in regards to stocks and futures trading. She, her staff and her husband continually break the rules and make boatloads of money off insider knowledge, with absolutely zero consequences. She's a stock cheat.

Old rallying cry?

I've never heard it but OK
I didn't watch or listen to the SOTU. But, from what I've read here I get the feeling Biden is being misquoted with regards to this rallying cry. I'm fairly certain he did not say, "Go get him!" He more likely said, "Go get 'em!" Which is, in fact, a phrase I've heard hundreds of times, if not more, in my lifetime.

I wondered out loud last night how we got so many old people in office.

-I voted in '08 for Obama, it's true. I did it because I was naive and thought he could turn around poor communities but I also liked that he wasn't an old man, had a successful and intelligent wife, two lovely children and I voted on emotion which I vowed after to never do again even if I don't "like" the guy that makes more sense as the leader between the 2 parties, be it a GOP or DNC.

I would like to see some younger and hungrier folks in politics.

-For example, MoP firmly supports hourly workers right now that have had their lives wrecked the last 2 years, I'd like to see those willing to go in and make the things we need, service the folks trying to get to their big office jobs, I'd like to see those folks get a subsidy from the government. Anywhere from $800-$1200 a month to incentivize them going to their jobs, show people we value the worker and we need them.

Maybe that's a wet dream i have of one day waking up and seeing a politician get on the TV and talk like a normal person that speaks about real day to day life many/most experience here in America.

-Get people excited about getting up and going back to work without feeling like they have to maneuver an obstacle course just trying to get in and out of work.

-Some folks have PTSD, we have a mental health pandemic at the moment and perhaps money doesn't fix things but it will get folks moving forward I believe.

-This is a rich country, we have the money to make peoples lives better that actually want to get up and contribute to this country. We should use those resources wisely and invest in people who are motivated. Stop trying to appeal to lazy folks or those that just want to suck up resources.

Marie Antoinette…do as I say not as I do…when I hear the words elite and politicians she is the first person I think of (John Kerry being #2)…very good at what she does as far as her party is concerned but unfortunately she is incredibly divisive, knows she is but doesn’t care and will do anything to advance her power….wonder what designer ice cream she had after the speech…America will be a better place when her and McConnell are gone.

I know.  Every time I visit my parents, I can't help but reflect on the fact that people their age and older are still running the country.  That should be terrifying.

Could not agree more…that age and those under the age of 30 should just take a backseat as one group is over-the- hill and the other group has no clue.

My wife and I don't really trust our parents to make the 13 hour drive to visit us.  Starting about a year ago, we resolved to be the ones doing the visiting, unless they flew.  We won't stick to that 100%, but our parents are at that stage.

Meanwhile, people older than them are making decisions about US nuclear policy, making go/no-go decisions about our domestic legislative agenda, and telling the rest of us what the constitution says.  All of these people should retire or be voted of office.  We should reinstate mandatory retirement for justices.

Exactly right

I agree sometimes I can't remember what I did 2 minutes ago. Hell sometimes I forget what I'm doing as I'm doing it. Frustrating.

80 years old and losing it, have lived in DC for the last 40, wealthy, kids are on the gravy train due to connections, beholden to donors…I am mean what can go wrong with this scenario which seems to becoming commonplace…it’s unfortunate that the few non-partisan things in DC seem to be stuff that benefits the individual.

No, she's probably not fit for office, she's 81 years old.  I understand there's value in experience, no question, but there comes a point in time when you should hang em up.  While we're at it, many of the rest of these people aren't fit to hold office either at this point.

Oh come on

Now this is getting silly. "Fit" is a very low standard and an entirely separate analysis from whether they are legislating effectively, best person for the job, etc.

Completely and entirely agree with the bold.

However, that does not mean that these people are "unfit."

How many 82 year old people do you know and have been around for a period of time?  That will answer your question.

Not unfit imo, but her and many others (both sides of the aisle) need to go as they are completely out of touch with today's America.

My mom is 86 and can't change the batteries in the tv remote, but I'll be darned if she doesn't complete the daily newspaper crossword puzzle. She comes up with words that I don't even know the definition of but are sure enough the correct answers.
