Great movie...

My point was this; he left with his tail between his legs, went home and practiced practiced practiced, and came back to kick ###. It wasn't some make believe 8 minute quarter that got him there. It was the hours of work he put in everyday.

brohan he actually got sent to the jv squad he was not outright cut i do not know if they have the jv squad anymore maybe this extra eight is the equivalent of a jv squad who the hell knows i lose track of this junkola but what i do not get is why it bugs people so much it is eight minutes lets think about things that take more than eight minutes one cooking a pizza two the ads on an average episode of hell on wheels or three the amount of time brohans drop here every morning checking to see if tom the terrific updated the yoga pants thread so in the end i will never get worked up about something that costs me less time than i waste looking to see if a guy put up yoga pants pictures and that is one to take down the street around the corner and to the bank bromigo

Just trying to gauge if this is just in my area or around the country. My son is a freshman in high school. After his latest basketball game, they cleared the score and put 8 minutes on the clock. The kids that didnt get much playing time, played a mini-game for the eight minutes. I didnt know what was going on so I aksed the boy after I picked him up when he returned to the high school. He said they do it after every conference game. This was his first conference game of the year, so I had never seen, nor heard of it. Is this done anywhere else?
Weird. Isn't that what JV is for?

So this is the JJV. Nice. What about the kids who aren't good enough to play on the JJV team? How come they get screwed? :hot:

I won't be happy until every kid in the school is playing at some level, whether they want to or not. And this goes for every sport.
This really isnt a difficult concept:

Freshmen: all 9th graders

B squad: primarily 10th graders and some upper level 9th graders

JV/Varsity: Any grades and their placement is dependant upon talent.
I get it. I think it's dumb. There's Varsity and there's JV. If you're not good enough to play on one of those two squads, go play rec ball at the Y. I don't understand why there have to be 4 levels of teams for a single high school.
As someone said, the kids aren't even done developing at that age and some have had some screwy coach that placed too much emphasis on winning at a younger age rather than devleop talent.

We had a girl who never played before HS due to being cut who ended up making it as a walk on at a Pac-10 before blowing her knee out. Also worked at a camp where a frosh coach (Fresno area) was instructed by his Varsity coach not to keep more than 5 mexican kids (usually 5'8 mexican freshmen end up being 5'8 mexican seniors.)

B Squad wasnt around in my day. The freshmen level has always been there.
I never heard of Freshmen level. And, FTR, I'm not trying to attack you or anything. Just stating that I think it's dumb.
The Catholic league teams in our section used to field 2 frosh teams. Again, you don't know who is going to develop at that age. Their varsity squads were pretty much smashing everyone in the playoffs FWIW.
