Why would you trade Ball for West if you believed in Crowell? That is a terrible deal any way you look at it.I own Crow and traded Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman to the CJ Anderson owner for West. I had the option to trade Crow for CJ instead but...well I don't know why I went that direction but clearly I believe in Crow.

Handcuff for handcuff deal. I do not see a problem. Why would you trade Ball for West if you believed in Crowell? your first sentence was pretty condescending. Tate wouldn't have been sharing a load if he was playing well. He wasn't. Marshawn Lynch comes to mind as a malcontent who is kept around because he produces. Tate didn't produce and is now gone.No. It wasn't intended to be condescending and it wasn't entirely inaccurate either. Tate got benched and cut for attitude and it's my bad for not considering the "bad teammate" option but let's not act like he was benched for production. In the future I will add a "bad teammate" option.Next time try not to be so condescending.Nice. And I'll own it for the most part because I never saw this coming. Although I think it is fair to say that Tate did #### the bed, he just did it by being a bad teammate. One said:I am starting to wonder how much experience some people in here have with the NFL. I don't care how many YPC a rookie back puts up. It is entirely irrelevant. If there is a veteran back who is moving the chains (even at a lower YPC), keeping his assignments in the passing game (particularly blitz pickup) and keeping the football secure then, in all but the rarest of circumstances, that veteran will keep the job.
If we were talking about a rookie Adrian Peterson and an incumbent Chester Taylor then I would worry about the veteran's job security, but we're not talking about that. We're talking about Crowell and Tate and in this case the veteran will win out. That's the way the NFL works. Now if Tate starts ######## the bed for several weeks in a row, fumbling, missing blocks and the like then maybe the door will open for the rookie, but if he keeps doing what he is doing then expect him to hold onto his job.
Injury is what will allow Crowell to get into the starting lineup this year and not much else.
Sorry.![]()
And I sincerely apologize if I offended you or anyone else.
I drafted and held Crowell all season. I agree with you. It is still not time for exuberance.I'm tempering my excitement. I don't trust Pettine/Shanahan to commit to either RB. I think what we're looking at here is a 50/50 split week to week, hot hand situation that will lead to further fantasy angst.
I will start Crow but not with confidence.
Pettine stuck up for Crowell after the game. He attributed the fumble to a great defensive play. Pettine does not think Crowell has a fumbling problem. 2 weeks fumble free (Crowell's fault or not) should put that whole thing to rest. What is this fascination with fumbles? He wasn't a fumbler in College and the fumbles I've actually seen haven't been of the careless variety (not counting the non fumble against Cincy). Some of the greatest backs of today have had their share of fumbles, including uber studs DeMarco Murray and Adrian Peterson. Let's face it, there are some big dudes on the defensive side of the ball, and they will occasionally strip the strongest running back.
If you want a running back who never fumbles, you need to be satisfied with a Ben Jarvis Green Ellis who will give you three yards and a cloud of dust. If I sound a little bitter, it's because i watched Tom Coughlin destroy David Wilson's career even before the injuries caught up with him.
It's all about risk/reward and I'm not sure where Pettine falls on that spectrum. Guess we'll find out over the next few weeks.
Btw, the more pertinent concern should be pass protection. The NFL is a passing league, and if a RB can't pick up blitzers the coaching staff will not allow him to see the field on a regular basis. Can any Cleveland homers lend in any insight into Crow's blocking prowess?
Ball is still 2-3 weeks from playing and so is Hillman. When they both return who knows how Denver will utilize them. Don't want to deal with that mess heading into the fantasy playoffs.
I think that should be in the sit/start thread. But it is an opportunity to point out that Crowell's floor is not as high as that of an uncontested first string RB playing a team that just made a guy the Pats pulled of the street look like an all-pro.Torn about starting Crowell or Denard Robinson this week. Win and I'm in...I'll inevitably make the wrong decision, just watch![]()
This. The only thing stopping Crowell from running away with the job is the fumbles. That's got to stop. Even with that they still felt comfortable enough to cut Tate which says a lot IMO. I'm not starting Crowell this weekend but I'm interested to see what happens with the touches. I think out touches West something like 18 to 7 and West gets more receptions like 5 to 2.
Wow that's quite the endorsement. Hope you are right.Crow is probably in the top 3 of RBs for ROS due the perfect storm of talent, Gordon's return, and remaining schedule. I only prefer Charles and L. Bell at this point. Maybe Lynch but back+schedule hurts value going forward. I think he's going to win a lot of leagues.
Well I stupidly forgot Murray but I think the logic is there otherwise. I'd say Murray, Charles, Bell, Crow, Forte to finish season. Everyone else has big question marks themselves.Wow that's quite the endorsement. What the.... Where can I take this bet? haha. If Crowell is even in the top-10 for the ROS, I'd be stunned. Not to be argumentative but who would you rank ahead and? I edited to add Forte, who I also forgot in my haste to reply, but all the other backs I can think of have some big question marks themselves with injury, talent, opportunity, or scehedule. McCoy? CJ Anderson? Lynch? Foster has more and more dings. Maybe Forsett but his schedule isn't the cakewalk that Crow's is. Lacy maybe. I don't think Ingram with the way the Saints are playing and him being an FO at end of season. Even if not top 5 I have a hard time not seeing him top 10.What the.... Where can I take this bet? haha. The issue with Crowell ROS is usage, like it has been all season. I love the guy, but I wouldn't trade for him right now if I had a lot of those guys because when they're playing it is their backfield. Not to be argumentative but who would you rank ahead and? My bad. I always assume dynasty trades in these kinds of threads. Weird to say "I believe in this dude, so I traded a starting situation to get his backup, who will never play because I believe in the dude so hard". But in redraft it makes a little more sense.Ball is still 2-3 weeks from playing and so is Hillman. When they both return who knows how Denver will utilize them. What's the deal with lunchables?A lot of folks in here jealous of our Pizza Lunchables.
Atlanta D couldn't shut down the local Girl Scout troop.Bold prediction! falcons claim ben tate on waivers, he gives them the cleveland playbook and they shut down the running game, gets a garbage time td to outscore crowell for the week.
The Atlanta run D isn't that bad really. Going back to week 4 where they were destroyed by Minn on the ground, they've given up only 101 yds/game rushing. That's probably better then average if I had to guess. But they've been shredded through the air so take that as u will..Atlanta D couldn't shut down the local Girl Scout troop.Bold prediction! falcons claim ben tate on waivers, he gives them the cleveland playbook and they shut down the running game, gets a garbage time td to outscore crowell for the week.
Agreed. I think we are seeing the league's best WR and RB working in tandem here. Hop on and enjoy the ride. The Browns were severely limited early in the year but now Shanahan can really open things up.
With the addition of WR Josh Gordon the Browns can now line-up three wides and split a TE out and go with one deep back forcing the defense into nickel/dime which is going to open things up for the RB who can hit the hole with a full head of steam.
Seems tailor made for the Crow IMHO.

Yeah, I'd take any of the other three as a combo over these two. I might even addI don't doubt Gordon's talent, but the best WR and RB?Agreed. Murray and Dez?
Forte and Marshall/Jeffrey?
Bell and Brown?
TRich and Hilton?
Okay, that last one was a joke, but do you seriously think Crowell and Gordon is a better combo than the other 3?
That is quite enough of your shtick in this very serious thread!A lot of folks in here jealous of our Pizza Lunchables.
Agreed. Any given week West could simply have a better week of practice or just get the "hot hand". I like Crowell a lot, but I'm not sure I trust the Browns to feed the crow every week. And the week they don't could end your FF season. The issue with Crowell ROS is usage, like it has been all season. This coaching staff will not anoint anyone. They are building a culture where each player gets what they earn. No more no less.
Tate got entitled. They cut him. Josh Gordon came back. They put him last on the depth chart.http://dawgpounddaily.com/2014/11/18/browns-depth-chart-reshuffled-greatly/?utm_source=FanSided&utm_medium=Network&utm_campaign=Trending%20on%20FS
Crowell is going to be awesome but something big would have to happen before he gets a feature back role.
I hope so too. They used to say the same things about David Wilson.Wow that's quite the endorsement. Is this really high? I'd like to think this would be selling low. Once the situation clears up and West is given his second string memo, Crow's value should blast through the nest. CACAW!Agreed. Anyone selling high?
Browns coach Mike Pettine defended Isaiah Crowell's Week 11 lost fumble, crediting Texans ILB Brian Cushing with making a great play.
The Browns appear to be increasingly committed to Crowell, sticking with him after the loose ball, and cutting Ben Tate. "I don't see him as having a fumbling problem," Pettine said. "I think he was trying to switch (hands with) the ball and got caught. I thought Cushing made a heck of a play. He hit right on top of it." The Cleveland Plain Dealer foresees the Browns using a "two-back rotation" of Crowell and Terrance West going forward. Crowell is the strongest fantasy option, at least for now.
