Isaiah Crowell (4 Viewers)

As long as Manziel doesn't cherry pick all the goal line work I'm fine with that.
that's what i'd be worried about.
I wouldn't get too worried. 3 of Crow's 7 TD's have been inside the 5. IMO the threat of Manziel running only helps the RB situation. Not to mention Hoyer wasn't scaring anyone with his arm. I said it a month ago when the running game stalled. We'll see how it plays out, but I think the completion to the TE that Manziel had said a lot. The defender was used to Hoyer's velocity and thought he had the pick....Manziel's ball had way more zip, and that is easily noticeable.

Hoyer said this is his team after the game. I think they are finally going to find out what the problem with the offense was. Cameron, Gordon, Crow, Manziel. This should be fun to watch whether they can get it done or not.

The Bills sent three D lineman to the Pro Bowl last year. Best in the league.

Sat Crowell, starting him the next two weeks. Should be a fun ride.
You are such a smart person.
He is in that respect. I started Crowell last week in 2 of 3 leagues and sat him for Morris and Ingram in those 2 this week. It reminded me of Ingram against Detroit his first week back (sat him that week and started him ever since). Ingram and Crowell aren't transcendent talents who in PPR leagues can rely on receptions to buffer facing great run Ds. I was hoping to see a bit more to show that he is startable ROS, but I knew he would have a bad game as well.

The next couple weeks look a lot juicier and as long as you don't hear any grumblings about him not starting or having a bad practice week (we heard the opposite when he started to get more time).

One note, the 18 touches he got were the most he has gotten in 1 game all year. That IMHO, shows that the coaches had faith in him and fed him because the D was solid and didn't take away carries because he was playing bad. 17 to 7 in terms of carries with West and West had a pivotal fumble for a D TD. Before the last few drives (it was 20-3 at the time around 9 minutes left in the game) the touches were 18 to 5. I don't think the game was all negative for him, especially with what West did.

Crowell in PPR is not a stone cold lock, but there's a lot of positive signs. He faced a pretty tough front four Week 13, but he is still the most talented RB on the team. The West fumble was a crushing blow and will tilt this heavily in Isaiah's favor IMO.

Awwwww...crud.

:kicksrock:
Couldn't help but notice this snippet from RW:

Isaiah Crowell owners, in particular, should be hoping Cleveland turns to Johnny Football for good. Manziel's dual threat would open up lanes for the Browns' rushing attack.
I would say this is fishing? Or whatever RW does to get clicks or generate interest?

Because it seems to me that Manziel could steal carries from RBs, he might encourage defensive fronts to crowd the line, while also hurting the passing game with his lack of vision, accuracy and preparation.

Admittedly, glad to be wrong

I own Gordon & Crowell on two teams. Really don't think Johnny helps either.

The logic is that a running qb opens up the running game (think RG3-Morris or even Tebow-McGahee). But who knows?

Glenn Winston - RB - Browns

Coach Mike Pettine said "we'll look at" getting No. 3 RB Glenn Winston more reps after Terrance West lost a critical fumble in the Week 13 loss to the Browns.

"West lately has been very careless with the football," Pettine said. "Giving up the ball like that is inexcusable." Winston was claimed off waivers from the 49ers at final cuts. The UDFA out of Michigan State rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries in the preseason. Winston stands 6-foot, 220. Isaiah Crowell is locked in atop the depth chart with an arrow pointing up.

Yep.

My thoughts went directly to Browns RB Glenn Winston the second I heard Pettine's post-game comments Sunday.

Mike Pettine's post game comments.

"The West fumble is totally inexcusable."

The carries to the Crow have to increase IMHO.

The wildcard out there is Glenn Winston. I thought Winston's time would be next year but man did Pettine sound pissed at Terrance West. He didn't use his first name just spat out 'The WEST fumble....'
Don't overlook Glenn Winston, Pettine is still pissed at T-West and he said Winston is a possibility.

Oh and good news for Isaiah Crowell owners.

The Crow has moved ahead of West on the depth chart.

Be warned though, if he turns it over again then that won't last and we may have a thread about RB Glenn Winston since West is not a favorite of head coach Mike Pettine right now.

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2014/12/cleveland_browns_coach_mike_pe_8.html

... Asked about possibly adding rookie Glenn Winston to the halfback mix, Pettine said: "That's something we'll look at."

...Pettine was clearly irked by the turnover in his post-game news conference. His tone didn't soften Monday.

"Giving the ball up like that is inexcusable," Pettine said.

...In the Browns' last two setbacks, running back fumbles have turned games on their axis. Crowell lost one in the 23-7 setback against the Texans.

West leads the Browns with 502 yards on 133 carries, but Crowell has moved ahead of him on the depth chart.

"We need to pride ourselves on not turning the ball over and ball security is a priority for our running backs," Pettine said. "I think Crow has improved since some of his issues early in the year. He's much more conscious of it."

Manziel likely doesn't help Gordon, but he could help Crowell depending on if they tailor the offence at all to Manziel. Typically running QBs help RBs as defences have to have players account for the QB, taking attention from the RB.

Agreed. See 2012 RGIII and Alfred Morris. Oh, and their OC: Kyle Shanahan

Let's talk Crow vs. the Colts at home. Who has the stones the start him in the playoffs and over whom?

My other options are Forsett (@MIA) and Ingram (vs.CAR), so I don't know that I can ca-caw this week. Can I? Gotta admit to secretly coveting more Crow, particularly in the wake of the TWest fumbliah last week and a tasty home match ahead.

I like Crowell over Hill because reading the tea leaves a bit tells me that Crowell is tightening his grip on the starting running back job. Hill isn't. He's going to be part of a timeshare with Gio. I see very little chance of Hill getting 25 carries in a game when Gio only sees 5 or something like that. I can see a scenario where Crowell gets 25 carries in a game and West getting 5. I think it could be this week. Crowell is ready to burst onto the national scene alongside Manziel and Gordon. They are the dark triad whose time is arriving IMO.

In a start 2 RBs my options are Gio, Crow, McKinnon, Spiller, Ridley, and Hyde, so I am planning on starting Gio and Crow as the rest are done or walking wounded.

Kinda think West's touches have gone west with the fumble issues. How many go to elsewhere other than Crowell is debatable I guess.

The real question is when Cleveland falls behind and is forced to pass, is Crowell going to be left in to get some receptions.

This ^ I'm concerned about Cleveland's ability to keep up!with Indy. That said, I'd definitely roll with Crowell over Hill and Herron. Probably Mason too.

Tough decision of mason vs crow the week. Leaning crow ATM...
im in the same boat... wish i could start both but can't. Left a lot of mason pointson the bench lastweek.
Also have same decision but I am leaning towards Mason over Crowell is PPR.
Same.

Not sure Cleveland will be able to hang with Indy. Could limit touches. Have no feel for what Manziel or Hoyer would do in catch up mode...neither West nor Crowell seem to catch many passes.

I could see STL in their game if not controlling it for the most part. Almost ensures Mason gets the touches. Also a good chance WASH has just given up while STL seems to be getting their groove on.

Leaning Mason.

They haven't faced an offense close to as good as Indy's either. So there really isn't a precedent we can look at. Lots of unknowns with Crowell this week. I think.

  • Manziel helps elevate the offense and a rising tide raises all ships. I expect more points and first downs, meaning more plays. I think when Cleveland has the ball, they will move the ball. I'm not so sure that Indy is going to be up by 20 at halftime or anything like that (of course they might be). I don't know that Indy's offense will materially change the way Pettine attacks on offense. But a wildcard is needed for the Browns to punch the Colts in the mouth there and Manziel is it. No chance he goes back to Hoyer.
  • Crowell is cementing the job. I think the gap from Crowell to West has increased steadily for the past 3 weeks. Since West had his big carry game, the carries have gone to 43 to 26 in favor of Crowell. That gap appears to be on the verge of widening with the West fumble and 17 to 7 workload split from last week. I don't see anything at all to indicate the West is going to be getting more touches. More like the opposite. But even if Crowell only maintains so 60-40 carry split that' going to mean 20 carries moving forward. He's been way more productive. And he hasn't lost a fumble since week 11.
  • Josh Gordon will raise this offense as well. He's excellent. He's going to convert first downs and extend drives. He's going to school Indy's dbacks. I think they score well this week.
  • Vegas line right now is 50 with Indy a 3 point favorite. So they are thinking 26.5 to 23.5 There's some room there for some touchdowns. I think Crowell gets one.

- Cleveland fell behind Pittsburgh 27-3 at the half in the first game of the season but kept running. The Crow wasn't even supposed to get a single carry but he came away from that game with 2 rushing TDs and the team rang up 191 yards on the ground, the majority of that coming after falling behind by 24 points at the half.

- Against Tennessee they fell behind 28-3 and came back to win it and the team rang up 176 yards on the ground.

The Browns lost their starting center and struggled for the next three weeks running the ball failing to eclipse 60 yards rushing. The first game back against Jacksonville they tried using a guard at center which lead to bad center and bad guard play. They plugged in a rookie center the next game and he wasn't up to speed and he struggled the next game but he came around in the very next game...

- Against Cincinnati the team ran for 170 yards.

- Struggled next game against Houston with J.J. Watt, only 65 rushing yards

- Going against an easier defense in Atlanta the team rang up 162 yards

- Last Sunday after losing starting TE and the backup center they couldn't run and only put up 74 rushing yards, 13 of those Manziel scrambles not called runs

This Sunday they play the weak Colts defense and they get their backup center back and they play at home. Considering they won't abandon the run even when they are down and face a weak defense at home, and Tate is gone and West is in the doghouse, I'd say fire up the hashtag #feedthecrow

Just caught Petine's presser on NFL network. Crowell being held out of practice and dealing with a injury. He didn't go into specifics.

Isaiah Crowell has a hip injury and may not practice Wednesday.
Coach Mike Pettine said Crowell will either be DNP or limited. The Browns are "hopeful" Crowell will be able to play Week 14 against the Colts, but this explains their signing of RB Shaun Draughn on Wednesday. If Crowell can't play, we'd imagine Terrance West would start. Stay tuned for updates on The Crow.

Relax. Its Wednesday, have a cup of coffee :coffee: ... Now if he doesn't practice tomorrow you can worry about Friday's practice report but Pettine has adopted a practice of sitting players on Wednesday. I don't think Joe Thomas has practiced once on Wed this year and Pettine typically will use any excuse to sit guys who have slight dings on Wed especially this late in the year.

Also the signing of Draughn probably has more to do with the roster spot that opened up with the IRing of Miles Austin who is still hospitalized with a bruised kidney and the fact that Terrance West is in the doghouse than any impending threat to Isaiah Crowell.

Oh I'll mention RB Glenn Winston again. Expect him to get his first carries of the year Sunday over T-West.

Not like I can start a guy under that cloud

Pettine said that about today's practice since his presser was prior to practice.

Reports are that Crow was riding the stationary bike and wasn't taking treatments so he was up riding a bike and not taking treatments.

Read into that what you may.

Also Pettine said he's 'hopeful' that Isaiah will play Sunday.

Once again, make of this what you will.

Two Roto Reports on Crow.

---------

Crowell is dealing with a hip issue, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Spin:
The report indicates that coach Mike Pettine is hopeful that Crowell will be able to play Sunday against the Colts, but the running back might be held out of practice on Wednesday. With Crowell banged up, the Browns bolstered their backfield depth by signing Shaun Draughn.-------

Spin:
The report notes that Crowell was riding a stationary bike on the sideline during Wednesday's session, but the running back's status will need to be monitored in advance of Sunday's game against the Colts. Terrance West would be next in line for carries this weekend if Crowell is limited at all, or unavailable on Sunday

Actually according to Browns beat writer Scott Petrak's tweet, Pettine actually said that Isaiah Crowell WILL PLAY Sunday but that he wasn't sure about him practicing today.

#Browns Pettine said hopeful RB Isaiah Crowell (hip) will be able to go Sunday. Might hold him out of practice today.

Did you just completely ignore the word "hopeful"?
