How is this even being debated? Crowell has to be downgrad big time with the mckown injury as does the entire offense. rookie qb+ More stacked boxes + more 3 and outs + more turnovers + less scoring opp = less fantasy potential. See Todd Gurley.

He did nothing the 1st game of the season. In the final minute of the game he got 40 yards on 2 plays where the Eagles D was just standing around with their hands on their hips waiting to see if the game was over yet so they could leave the field...otherwise he'd have had like 20 yards on 10 carries.
Didn't see this past game...but saw the clip of the 85 yard run...nice blocking by the line, left him a giant hole, and he did put on the burst so the secondary didn't make the tackle. But he could have easily been 48 yards on 17 carries if not for that.
Of course a rookie QB that's going to get no respect is going to hurt him more. I'd sell if anyone was buying.

I like crow don't get me wrong. He was in my starting lineup last week over Jeremy Hill. He would be this week too if McCown was at QB. I just like to see crow do well in this situation then have him put up two points in my flex this week

But what is he being downgraded from? Dude had an ADP in the 10th round. Yeah, he's played well so far, but this isn't someone people were taking as a RB2 or even an RB3 in most draft. He more than likely started out as people's RB4. He's shown he has value and could be a solid flex contributor in standard leagues.rickyg said:

He's not someone you would probably start every week, but with what we've seen so far, I'm comfortable throwing him in the lineup now when I need him. Downgrade? No.

Well Dodds didn't get the memo, because on his Top 200 forward, Crowell is now RB14 in standard leagues. I think that's a tad high and would put him somewhere in the 20-25 range.
If people had not been sleeping on him for 2 weeks then I'd agree, but he was so undervalued through 2 weeks, now that people have woken up, he's actually an upgrade over their previous perception even with the QB downgrade. In other words, he probably should've been in people's top 20 the first two weeks and outside the top 20 in week 3, but instead he was waaay undervalued through 2 weeks.rickyg said:

That's a really strange assumption considering a subscriber already told you his week 2 value was RB30 and his week 3 is RB22.

Another factor might be pre-season expectations of Duke Johnson's role increasing, which hasn't played out like some thought.
Yeah, I think that's directly tied to people sleeping on Crowell. Personally, I thought there were enough indicators to the contrary that the Duke hype should've died out, but it persevered. Their loss, our gain.

I was on board with Crow as my flex but then I saw Crow got 34 snaps and Duke got 32 snaps....so they're still pretty much a time share. Add in the McCown injury and the center being injured, I'm staying away for another week.

If you don't start someone because its "point chasing" you are crazy. Last year for example Devonta owners would have missed 80 points. Did people who started Crow week 1 chase the points week 2?

glad to see bloom come around, his touches have been great, and hue has this team in the hunt...
he's not an auto start each week, but def a solid chouice in good matchups

Exactly. That's where I've stood on him all along. He was drafted as most people's RB4. He's shown he can be a decent flex play in standard leagues. I'll gladly take that.
Which brings me to the thought of selling high on Crowell. To who? I don't think people see Crowell as much more than a flex guy most weeks. Unless a team is desperate for RB help, I doubt he'd bring much in return.

This is the problem, I got him very late, his value is greater than his perception, doubt anyone will give the real value he is worth right now as a spot starter and a flex play.

I'm considering trading Tyrrell Williams for him. Wr5 for a rb3 (lost abdullah). I'm highly considering making this move. I can't blame people for wanting to sell high, but I'm not entirely sure he drops off the face of the earth. We've seen usable rbs out of bad teams and Crowell is one of those that'll get his regardless it seems.

Sent Crowell and Maclin for Hopkins and Asiata to a team that's hurting at RB, FWIW.
JMHO but Crowell is in a sell-high window right now.

I sent Crowell for Rawls on Saturday night. Then the news comes out that Rawls is out 2-4 weeks, and Crowell had a decent game. I thought I made out well on the trade (I had CMike) but now I'm thinking it was good for the other team.
Ehhhh. Might appear so right now while August rankings are on our mind, but Maclin is getting just as many targets as Hopkins (not sure which QB is better, but I'd give the edge to Smith until Oz proves otherwise). IMO Hopkins was overrated after last year's volume + garbage time. Maclin is older (4 years) but that's offset IF Crowell can maintain RB2 status for 3-5 years (assuming Asiata maintains bench fodder status).
He's definitely at his all time high, but if he continues to hog the touches (and goal line carries) his value will keep rising until he's recognized as a legitimate RB2.

His value is definitely high right now, but I don't think most people him value him the same as I do. I see him as an RB3 with RB2 upside. I don't think I'd get good value for him in return in a trade.

Crow - 58%, 52%, 51% - 14, 19, 16
Duke - 44%, 50%, 50% - 8, 8, 17
Each had a RZ carry.
Despite Duke's touches essentially doubling last week they still split snaps. Too bad WAS is -8 this week because I'd like to see crow get 20+ touches.

Yeah, I agree. I think most people are still discounting him due to pre-season ADP. He's currently at RB15 in ppr, likely higher in 0ppr, and his team is 0-3. Should this team ever improve and nurse a lead, he should get even more touches. Personally, I see him as a low-end RB2 with occasional RB1 upside (TD & matchup dependent). He's not plug'n'play, but I'll slide him in there when the matchup looks good even though he's probably my RB4 or lower on most teams.

I would agree with this. If he is sell high, what is the perceived value versus "real" value; where do people see him finishing if he is at an all time high?
He is top 20 right now. Which RBs do people feel will finish ahead of him who are currently ranked below him? RB has been a disaster. Crowell has shown already he will get his no matter who is at QB. The browns are bad, yes, but Richardson had an amazing year his rookie season on a team that was just as bad if not worse. A good RB will make plays and still get the ball; they will still run the ball. I'm not exactly sure where people see him finishing.
I see him as a RB2. He will be my RB3 and bye week fill in. I am happy that I was able to grab him. For a low price IMO (my WR5, which I am heavy at WR so my 5th was T Williams).
I guess if you drafted him as your RB4 or worse then you are in a situation where you have 2 or 3 RB2/3s and Crowell seems like the reasonable one to get rid of. I get that. But at the same time I don't really see him dropping in value significantly over the course of the season. If anything, Kessler seems like a decent QB who can manage short routes. JMHO.
Yeah, I don't plan to move him. Can't ever have enough depth at RB it seems. Plus, Gordon will be back in 1 week, McCown in 2-4 weeks, and Coleman in 3-5 weeks. This offense will get better.

In one league ( ten man this one is ) I'm pretty deep in numbers at RB - Miller/Ware/Coleman/Crowell/Dwayne Washington/Jennings/D Williams
and a little light at WR just now - Evans/Watkins/Dorsett/D Thomas
the Bell owner literally has only C-Mike/Bell/T West at RB and has Baldwin/Kelvin/Jordy/Gordon/Wallace/Desean at WR.
I offered him Crowell and Deangelo for Kelvin. No dice. Thought I may get it through due to his WR depth and Kelvins goose egg at weekend. I mean the guy literally has C-Mike and now Bell to start this week and no other serviceable RBs.
I know. Boring. But thought it might be of interest re trade value.

I think Crowell is going to be one of the most traded RBs this week and possibly next week. I think rightfully so. Many of his owners have a RB who is outproducing where they drafted him to be, and RB is such a mess this year many owners are looking for someone to fill in. He doesn't cost that much right now if he is valued correctly, but at the same time he is a fairly solid player IMO going forward. He has potential to finish top 15 but likely top 20. I don't see him crashing and burning.
I think he's a great sell and a great buy... because people who are selling are doing so from a position of strength as their RB4/5 is now a RB2/3. But people buying may be getting a very solid player to develop later into the year, if he isn't already there.
If you're hurting at RB and people trade in your league about as often as mine (maybe 2 or 3 a year if you're lucky), then Crowell is someone you should really target. Yahoo is recommending to sell high. FGB is (from what I hear) upgrading/recommending to buy

I bought him for 2 late 3rds in 2017. Even though I have Zeke/DJ as starters as well as M. Gordon/Sims/Matt Jones, I think the offense slowly starts getting better and better the more threats start appearing on the field. With Pryor proving he can be a threat, and Gordon almost back, there's going to be more room to run as long as the QB can be competent.

My guess is that will really vary based on how desperate the owner is for a RB and whether the owner is inclined to look at stats or think about the name. If Matt Jones or Eddie Lacy had Crow's numbers people would be falling over themselves to call them RB1s. However, some people just see Crow and think of his 2 mediocre seasons so they aren't buying in. Definition of post-hype guy.

Rotoworld's coverage of him is not helping. He had 15 carries for 79 yards (5.2 ypc) and all they say is:
Crowell was mostly held in check outside of a 25-yard run. He lost 10 carries to Duke Johnson, who was more effective on fewer touches. Crowell has a solid floor in Hue Jackson's run scheme in the few games where Cleveland isn't playing from behind, but is due for some regression. He remains a prime sell high candidate.
Spencer Ware had 20 carries for 75 yards (3.75 ypc) and they had this to say:
Advice: The final line is not impressive, but Ware was again even against a tough run defense. He easily picked through traffic on inside runs, showed the burst to do damage in the open field, and had a great hesitation move to get the corner on what should have been a six-yard touchdown in the second half, although it was ruled he fumbled into the end zone on review. Ware has proven himself to be an above-average back, and he will have a role even when Jamaal Charles returns.

I was watching Vereen and Darkwa's touches vs. WAS for separate reasons and wow is that run defense a sieve. Crow should be able to pick up chunks of yards this week.
