Isaiah Crowell (2 Viewers)

I'm heavily invested in Crowell.  It really irks me that he is not on the field more.  He is still only get just over 50% of the offensive snaps.
He's a beast, no doubt. During the broadcast they said he was the number 1 ranked h.s. RB when he enrolled at Georgia. I'm ashamed to admit I didn't know that.

But Duke is almost equally effective.

Has anyone traded for him after the dud game against the Patriots?

Corwell is currently 7th overall in total yards from scrimmage, but I have a feeling his best match ups are already behind him.

I traded for him in a dynasty league.  A rebuilding owner offered me Crowell/18 4th for my Tyrell Williams/'18 3rd. Even in a PPR, I thought that was a low risk price to invest in him.

His best matchups may be behind him, but I still think he has the makings of an RB10-15 ROS. I wouldn't be too worried about the dud against NE. The Pats are great at planning to take away a team's best offensive player,  and of course CLE had to roll with Whitehurst for most of the game (who they proceeded to cut this week). I think Crowell gets back on the mid-high RB2 path this week with Kessler under center.

Tenn does appear to be a tough match up but I don't see how the average fantasy team can bench him.  Hue is determined to run and Crow not only gets the lions share but also gets the goal line stuff plus has shown a ton of big play ability already this season.

I'm starting him. But then again I have 7 RBS of which only McCoy and him are true bellcows ( the rest being lotto tickets, RBBC and Jennings ).

To be honest, sometimes it's nice to have no alternative and not be agonising over decisions every week.

I am considering benching him for Pryor and possibly even Coleman.  I also really like the potential of Floyd vs. the Jets.  The loss of Bitoni hurts and Tenn is the 4th worst matchup for rb's.  I do think the game script should mean Crowell gets a decent amount of carries

The RB's that Tennessee has faced so far;  AP, Riddick/Abdullah, Lat Murray/DeAndre Washington/Jalen Richard, Lamar Miller, Jay Ajayi/Damien Williams.  None of which are considered to be very good Rb's other than Miller and AP.  I chalk AP's bad game against them up to him not playing in preseason and not a lot of snaps and probably a dash of age.  Miller the 2nd best RB on that list, had 19 for 82 and 3 catches for 26, not a bad day only thing missing was a TD and those are kind of hit and miss.  Also the Oakland RB's combined had a decent day overall as well 22 for 112 and a TD and 3 catches for 19.  Again not a bad day.

Crowell is on a hot streak (starting to cool off with week 5 performance), but he's still a top 10 RB this year.  But he's a young RB with "fresh" legs who is arguably the best RB that the Titans have faced all year.  Or at least the best RB in 2016 that they've faced.  I'm confidently playing him at flex this week.  He's proven to get goal line carries, and workhorse types of carries so what exactly is there to worry about?

Nice price for him.

Guess I was just trying to convince myself he'd be ok.  Whoops ha

Anybody watch what happened ? I saw Duke run in a goal line TD that if have expected Crow to get. Luckily bacon saved by OBJ, Stafford and Shady but getting worried about Crow as my RB2

Bad team syndrome.  Sometimes you're going to get owned up front early and not be able to keep pounding the rock because you don't trust your defense to keep you in it.  The key is how many stinkers he'll put up like this.  That's why he's a RB2 and not RB1.  His own D is the bigger factor than the matchup D.

I'm in the same boat as you...The fact that Duke was the goal line back is most concerning.   He's definitely not a must start RB2 imo...although he has been up against decent front 7's the last 2 weeks.

He's the best kind of RB3. If you have him as an RB2 you're gonna want to pull your hair out. It'll be interesting to see how he finishes the season and whether or not CLE picks up some RB talent in the draft.

Yes it's not all ideal to have to be starting him as your RB2 right now. Unfortunately it can happen.(Langford/Jennings/Bernard were my own other mid round RB picks who have offered little so far )

For his value this year though, he's still had a few great weeks and I think he'll have a few more before its done.

Tennessee stacked the box every single play, daring Kessler to throw.

and the Browns kept throwing.

i wonder if Jackson just wants to see what they have in Kessler at this point, or if he was just trying to take what was being given by the defense.

based on what Kessler showed, maybe opposing defenses will start respecting the pass a bit more and Crow will have some room to work?

Thoughts on where Crow fits in the RB landscape ROS? #25ish? How does he compare to someone like Terrance West?
One of them has the faith of the coach, the other is a stopgap who will probably lose his job to a rookie before the end of the year.

I still see Crowell as an RB2 going forward. He's outsnapping Duke, averaging 14 carries & 2 targets a game. I'll take 220 carries and 20 receptions on the season. Even with the two bad games, he's still averaging over 5ypc.

they are determined to get him the ball today. promising.

I traded for him for depth and those " oh crap now what" situations.  can't say he's wasting space but he's not playing for me anytime soon that's for sure, I hope

I'm holding. more defensive than anything else

Anyone considering starting him this week ? Weather report was bad last I looked, they are coming fresh off of a bye, Bengals D isn't what it was past few years, and RG3 at QB could give him some more room to run.

It's between him, Booker and Lewis for me in a non ppr and I have Lewis in the spot right now.

debating him and FatRobb in a ppr league. Crowell always seems to catch a handful of passes, although with RG3 in there who knows

I am debating starting Crowell over Watkins at flex in my ppr league.  I had Crowell in but switched to Watkins yesterday.

Isaiah Crowell has until Friday to sign contract tender

Does anyone know what happens if Crowell doesn't sign his RFA tender?
Nothing.

The two sides have until Friday to work out a different deal, one that would keep the 24-year-old in Cleveland for more than just the upcoming season.

After Friday, the RFA tender is the only option allowed.  Prior to that the team could conceivably offer him a long term deal.  Additionally, after Friday, no other team can offer Crowell a tender either.

The next deadline is June 15th.  At that point, Cleveland can withdraw the current offer and submit a new tender for as low as 110% more than his 2016 salary.

After that the key date is week 10 - that's the last time he can sign any kind of offer and still play in the league that year (and thus get a year of accrued service).  If he doesn't sign by then, he'll remain an RFA and be in the exact same boat.

If at any time Cleveland withdraws an offer sheet he becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent immediately and can sign with anyone under any terms.

What are your expectations for him?

This year?

Short term (2-3 years)

Long term (4+ years)

Is he a speculative hold at this point? He is starting to remind me of Ben Tate without the production. Possibly stuck behind a solid starter until his rookie contract is up.
I would say with Crowell he is a top 15/20 Dynasty RB. For the following reasons:

1) Just 24 yrs old and got a 2nd Rnd Tender

2) Has a top 3 offensive line now with the free agent additions.

3) Has an awesome ypc and yards after contact rate. (People on Twitter bring up the fact that he had a few large runs that largely inflate his total yards and ypc. While I can see this point being a little valid. It doesn't hold a lot of weight for me as a con. Frankly because most RBs that get a lot of carries have a favorable game script and or trying to preserve a lead. How often was CLE doing that? Worst team in football ly. So never really. Not like Crowell was getting 20 to 25 carries a game.

4) Passes the eye test.

Open to other thoughts?

With the caveat that Dynasty RB rankings are the most fluid position in all the hobby, as of this moment:

1. Crowell is a top 20 RB right now, but until the NFL draft is complete, this is written in pencil. Cleveland has the most ammunition to move up/down to get the player they want. Garrett will go #1 to them- but what about #12? The whole QB (Trubisky) narrative could be a smokescreen. What's to say that if Fournette somehow doesn't get picked by either the Jaguars or Panthers in the Top 8, that Hue and crew jump into the #9 hole and pick him? What we all have to acknowledge right now is that we have no idea of any team's draft plans, that this is the season of misinformation, and that each team's big board is complete guesswork on our part. If, as many believe, Fournette is a top 3 prospect, and he somehow slips- why wouldn't Cleveland jump in? Cleveland has an improved line and EE showed how a truly elite back can lift the fortunes of an entire team. I'm not saying that I think Cleveland drafts him BUT this possibility is higher than most people realize. The EE example illustrated how a great running game can minimize exposure of other, weaker team components. A great running game allows a team to control clock and tempo, minimizing defensive exposure. Look at what Dallas did last year as an example and recognize that NFL teams are the biggest copycats out there.

2. If I have a share or Crowell in a dynasty format and have a trade partner who is more bullish on his talent than I am, than I would move him. Otherwise, he is a clear hold for me.

3. Duke Johnson is a decent player and will have a role in the Cleveland offense, so Crowell's upside is limited by Johnson's presence.

Browns re-signed RB Isaiah Crowell to a one-year, $2.81 million contract.
It's the value of his second round tender. Crowell was hoping for an extension, but there hadn't been any progress since January. Cleveland wants see more from Crowell before committing to him after an uneven 2016. Behind a massively upgraded offensive line, Crowell projects as an upside RB2 pick for 2017.

Firmly in 15-20 dynasty tier. Just turned 24, top caliber college prospect, no off-field issues since college issues, upgraded offensive line.

I like Duke Johnson and he may take a next step, but I don't think that means Crowell isn't going to continue to present value, as he has since the rookie drafts.

This looks really good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr1M7ZnDksI

he did have this

Browns running back Isaiah Crowell learned a hard lesson after posting a graphic depiction of a police officer being stabbed in the neck by a hooded man in the aftermath of two black men being fatally shot by officers last week.

Crowell, the Browns' starting tailback, quickly deleted the post, which went up Wednesday afternoon on his Instagram account. But now, some fans are outraged and calling for the Browns to cut him.

Agreed.  Duke is the superior pass-catching back, and a healthy Duke Johnson may prevent Crowell from matching his 2016 career high 40 receptions; however, Crowell's early-down role behind a vastly improved O-line appears to be secure.  I think it would be no surprise to see Crowell post his first thousand-yard season and perhaps even post double-digit touchdowns.
