Isiah Pead>Darryl Richardson. (1 Viewer)

It can't be all the oline at fault or Fisher wouldn't be cycling through and benching different running backs trying to find a spark. If they coaches thought it was on the blocking when they watch film, their actions don't suggest it. I think Ben Tate will be leading this backfield next year.

I cut Richardson and Pead off the same team last night, replaced with Jennings, OGB, and Blount. I wasn't starting those 2 RBs anyways at this point, might as well cut them and find other bye week parts.

I'm

10 pages...fantasy football shouldn't be this hard folks.

All this for the dead last rushing offense in the league at 47.2 yds/game. Time to acknowledge the real answer may be none of the above.
Be that as it may, as McFadden/Spiller are my starting RBs (stop laughing) I'm in the pool of interested people.

I took a flier on Cunningham FWIW.

Per Rotoworld: ESPN Rams blogger Nick Wagoner believes "it seems as though it’s time" for rookie Zac Stacy to "at least lead the committee" in St. Louis' backfield.
It's not clear if Wagoner has heard this at Rams Park or is simply throwing it out there, but 12- and 14-team leaguers could make worse use of a bench spot than to stash the fifth-round pick out of Vanderbilt. Stacy was a favorite of Rotoworld college prospects guru Josh Norris before April's draft. "I think Zac’s done a really good job since he’s been here," Sam Bradford said. "He’s a very talented runner. He’s a powerful guy. He’s got great vision. He makes cuts in the hole that are quick and decisive, so I’m excited to see him out there."

As my current RB rosters is Doug Martin, Steven Jackson, David Wilson, Jason Snelling and Brandon Bolden. I am quite interested for a flier this week, and am thinking of trying out Stacy.

I expect that fumbler to not disappoint and fumble his way back onto the bench.

This feels familiar: THe "guy" is out and everyone scrambles to pick up the young "next guy" and completely ignores the guy that has been there the longest because everyone says he is worthless. THen the worthless guy comes in and is the most valuable fantasy player because he has actually been in the system long enough to perform all aspects of the job, like pass protection, etc.

Take a quick look at Denver last year. THe answer is Isiah Pead.
I'm not saying you're wrong - it's wide open at this point, though I don't personally believe in Pead. What I will say, however, is that the parallel you draw is flawed. Moreno was inactive last year because he was McGahee's handcuff and had zero special teams value while Hillman and Ball both offered either COP or ST abilities. Pead was inactive for rookie Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham. Now you could argue Cunningham plays special teams, so that's why he gets a spot over Pead. IMO, that ignores Cunningham playing ahead of Pead in the Dallas game before they went full comeback mode and did nothing but throw.

To my knowledge (admittedly limited here) Stacy doesn't exactly offer ST value, so why give him the active spot over Pead?
Actually, Moreno was inactive last year because of his injury and they didn't rush him back. This was LARGELY overlooked last year as everyone assumed that he was just inactive but he even said late last year that he was still recovering for a long time and probably wouldn't have played when he did down the stretch had McGahee been healthy (meaning, may have been a "healthy scratch").

People have glossed over Moreno completely and missed the boat on him and now they are seeing the fantasy implications of that. I'm not saying I am right about Pead either; just seems similar to me and Fisher is one of those coaches that kind of does things in that old school way, like Fox. I'm just drawing the comparison and it is more similar than what those who think of Moreno as just being a guy that was there last year with nothing else going on.
Yeah I'm totally with you on the Moreno situation. I was one of the few on here touting him over Hillman, though I believe his lack of ST value did play into the decision to deactivate him week after week in favor of Lance Ball. But you are correct, he was still rehabbing his knee.

Moreno looks better this year as well, lending further credence to him not being 100% last year.

Regardless - with no information that any of these guys were hurt, I just find it hard to believe that Pead goes from inactive to starting RB, though I admit fully that I could be completely wrong. IF I had to guess, it's Cunningham or Stacy this week getting a shot to prove he can be the guy. I've tried to stash both where I have room, but that's not plausible in every league, and certainly expectations need to be held in check.

Rotoworld:

Rams declared RB Isaiah Pead a healthy inactive for Monday night's Week 8 game against the Seahawks.
Even with Benny Cunningham (ankle) also inactive, Pead still can't crack the game-day 46. Zac Stacy and Daryl Richardson will handle backfield duties. Also inactive for the Rams are QB Brady Quinn, G/C Barrett Jones, T Mike Person, and DE Gerald Rivers. Cortland Finnegan (thigh) and C Scott Wells (thigh) are active.

Rotoworld:

It's unclear if Isaiah Pead or Daryl Richardson would be the No. 2 back if Zac Stacy (concussion) sits out Sunday.

It's a foregone conclusion that Benny Cunningham would start and be the feature back in the event Stacy can't get cleared. Behind him, it gets more muddled. Pead played just five snaps against the Bears and got no touches while Richardson was a healthy scratch. The coaching staff doesn't appear to have much faith in either one right now.

My turd is > than your turd
Exactly. I liked Pead more than Richardson because he's a terrible RB. But so is Pead and neither holds a candle to Stacy. I believe Gian said it best last year, "Richardson and Pead will not be the starting RB for the Rams at the end of 2013."

He was right.

My God, 10 pages of Pead vs. Daryl Richardson debate. Think of the wonders we could have built with that time, the diseases we could've cured, the pron we could've watched.

Rotoworld:

Rams GM Les Snead indicated at the Combine that the team now envisions 2012 second-round pick Isaiah Pead as a special teamer.
Knowshon Moreno and Donald Brown give talented Pead some hope for a later-career resurgence, but he's clearly now on the backburner in St. Louis' backfield. "He became one of our better special teamers," Snead said of Pead. "You can expect some nice things going forward for him." Pead finished 2013 with two special teams tackles. He was the 50th overall pick in the 2012 draft.

Pead is the square peg and the Rams are the round hole. He'll never fit in that scheme as it's built for bruisers. The O-line is one of the worst lines in the NFL. His best bet is to get released but as a 2nd rounder Snead won't as it's his rep on the line. Pead will just fizzle out in STL. He needs a miracle to get hooked up with a different team. I think him and Ryan Williams are kind of in the same situation.

At least Pead is healthy unlike Williams.

Pead is a bust.

Stacy got nearly 1,000 yards despite only one carry in the first month.

STL had over 200 rushing yards against SEA at home, CHI had a bad defense but 250 yards against them.

Their OL improved when Saffold went to guard, but he could be gone in free agency.

Jake Long returning from torn ACL, center Wells and/or guard Dahl could be cap casualty.

But based on last year, I don't think STL had one of the worst OLs in the league, that isn't Pead's problem. He has been suspended, and there has been talk in the first two seasons of being late, immature and unprofessional, said he almost quit during his rookie year. Fisher and Snead have done a good job overall, but Pead and Quick were terrible second round picks in 2012.

Good post

Rotoworld:

NFL insider Dan Pompei reports Rams 2012 second-round pick Isaiah Pead was "the subject of some trade talks during the draft."
The Rams return Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham, and used a top-75 pick on Tre Mason. At the Combine, GM Les Snead indicated he envisions Pead as mostly a special teamer. Pead's roster chances are around 50:50 entering training camp. It's likely St. Louis was the initiator of trade talks, not the other way around. Through three NFL seasons, Pead has 17 carries for 75 yards (4.4 YPC).

I'd bank on Benny being the next guy in line, I think Pead was sliding out of relevancy anyway, unfortunately this injury cements his fate.
