ISIS/ISIL - Cartoonishly bad bad guy (1 Viewer)

Has there ever been a party to worldwide disputes who is so clearly the bad guy?  Think about it--these guys will bomb and kill, and have bombed and killed, just about everyone in the world.  There was a point at which the US was bombing the crap out of countries in the middle east, and those countries employed terrorism against the US in response, such that some folks could at least make a case that it was all about perspective, and there was no clear bad guy.

Does ANYONE out there defend ISIS/ISIL?  Have we ever in history seen such a clear bad guy?  These guys are like Cobra to our GI Joe.  Just cartoonish evil.  You rarely see this kind of black and white.

Even Nazi Germany had some allies in the world.  These guys?

Eesh.

I agree.   Complete, universal hatred for these guys.  And I also think ISIS does not give 2 s***s what anyone in the world thinks.

They have attacked the U.S., U.K.,  Russia, Egypt, France, Belgium, Turkey, and even the very countries they reside in force.  They may have even attacked targets in China, 'tho I could be wrong on this....who does this while at the same time think "man, we're really making friends and influencing people". ?

You take on the biggest kids in the block the way they do just screams either supreme confidence or absolute insanity.   It's like they are giving all of the world a big 'ol middle finger.

It makes sense if you read up on their ideology. The Atlantic had an excellent piece on this, maybe 6 months ago. In a nutshell they believe the end times are near and they are a caliphate (meaning they are ordained by God/Allah and have authority over all Muslims worldwide). When they slaughter infidels they believe they are doing God's will and bringing us closer to the apocalypse. Of course they don't care what anyone else thinks. And they are able to recruit in two ways: they appeal to disaffected loner types who want to be part of something big and important, and they brainwash devout Muslims into believing they are soldiers for Allah in the ultimate holy war. I'm guessing they also attract a lot of violent psychopaths who are just on board for the beheadings, and other assorted thugs and thieves who don't necessarily buy into the religious fanaticism.
