Jake Locker (1 Viewer)

On a day full of surprises, Locker's retirement announcement was very surprising, even if it took back seat to other news.

Top quarterback on the market just decides not to play anymore. Wow.

Retires at 26.
I think he just got demoralized by the injuries (several of which were not minor). Every time it seemed to be coming together for him, he would be knocked out for the season. I think the prospect of possibly getting hurt again after just a few games outweighed his desire to compete (particularly since he probably just more likely to be a backup). Too bad, despite what his critics say, IMO he could have a good one - now we will never know.

Even if he was healthy he would have been Tebow.

Wow, what a QB draft class for 2011.

Locker (8th overall pick), Gabbert (10th overall pick), and Ponder (12th overall pick).

I feel dirty just typing this. :yucky:

Rotoworld:

The Titans didn't know Jake Locker was planning to retire.
"Same time you guys did," was coach Ken Whisenhunt's response when asked when he found out about Locker's decision. Whisenhunt said he wouldn't be surprised if Locker eventually attempted a comeback, but going on 27 with an absurdly-long injury history, Locker's window to return won't be big.

No. When on the field he looked like he could play. Not great by any stretch but better than at least a few current starters. He had the talent.
