Javon Walker Injury Update (1 Viewer)

Nothing in the latest Rocky Mountain news. We should find out if he plays this week later today. Or at least get an update. My guess is he's a game-time decision this week.
Yes, thanks for something on task here. I'm guessing game time decision too. I see him playing and maybe practicing one day a week for the remainder of the season to keep that knee together till he can get it scoped in the offseason...Gonna be lots of Shanny Game Time Decision headaches from here on out though....

First of all Dropping Javon is dumb i agree with hornet 100 percent... Walker is def. a stud... he is a top 10 receiver... he will be fine he had a little swelling so they kept him out one game.. even if he doesn't play til week 7 he should be ready to roll then and tear it up... first two weeks he avg 9 catches and 100 yards... u see how bad they missed him vs indy when cutler couldn't move the ball for crap... WALKER is a stud and should never be dropped unless he was on IR.. not a bright move......

Id be glad he's resting from a fantasy standpoint but from an NFL standpoint this is a big divisional game against a team you really dont want to see get well at your expense.

Broncos have yet to prove they can win without a significant contribution from Walker. I agree resting him and then giving him the bye week for additional rest is probably the smart move but I think it could result in Denver going into the bye at 2-3 and riding a three-game losing streak.

You think the Chargers in their current form can go to Denver and come away with the W? It will be an interesting game to watch.. I guess it will depend on who wants the loss more :ptts:

I didn't think the Jags were going into Denver and winning in Week 3 but that's what happened. And despite their problems, I still think the Chargers are much more talented team than Jacksonville.

Walker will more than likely rest again this week.
 and thanks for your insight as usual.Do you get the impression this could linger all year, or is it truly just rest it this week, get through the bye, and then he'll be good to go?
this injury should be well rested after the bye, but it could pop up at any time. Javon really wants to play, it's just a case of Shanny wanting to be completely sure he's ready.

Cecil, would it be Stokley who would get the nod if Javon can't go? Does he have any kind of value this week against that San Diego secondary?

Thanks Cec, having trouble deciding which WR to drop and this just made up my mind. Hoping he does get back to 100%.

Thursday update from KFFL:

Broncos | Walker misses practice, a game-time decision

Thu, 4 Oct 2007 13:40:34 -0700

Bill Williamson, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos WR Javon Walker (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 4. Walker will be a game-time decision for Week 5.

not meant to hijack, but does this latest news give anyone else a much gloomier outlook on his being 100% again this year? Starting to rethink whether I should drop him.

I'm starting to get the same vibes I had when I owned Darrell Jackson a couple of seasons ago and he missed about 10 games or so. But we'll see what happens after the bye. If he isn't healthy by then I think dropping Walker in smaller or tight roster limit leagues becomes a very viable option.

Looks like he'll sit out this week:

Wow.....That's another two weeks according to the article....I'm wondering where they are getting this information from that he won't play until October 21st.....they said he's resigned to the fact but they never quote him. He just says he needs rest.

unfortunately I have to make a call on him or Evans today. Tough call

Choose Evans. NO WAY Javon plays on a sprained knee going into a bye week.

They have a bye next week.
Hmm... that certainly could be a factor :lmao:
Doh.

Sorry, I meant that because of roster limitations in one league I have to choose which one to drop today.

this has not been declalred official anywhere but Javon Walker isn't playing this week. there is no chance he plays.

yeah, we got that part. The convo has moved onto what are his long-term prospects for a full recovery by week 7.

oh, my bad. I think owners need to weary of the situation all year now. Full recovery by week 7...not so much, but mobile enough to play, yes. I still think he can post good numbers, but it comes with a great risk moving forward.

If Walker isn't healthy enough to make a big contribution after the bye I think Cutler's value sinks as well. Cutler has not been very good the past two games without Walker and I'm not sure he's ready to carry the passing game with only Brandon Marshall (Stokley is a decent No. 3 WR but he isn't a starter in my opinion). Walker may not be the only casualty here if he isn't ready to make a big contribution starting in Week 7.

I wish we had a better prognisis for this injury- Walker could be a great buy low candidate for making a late season run if this is something that will heal up in a couple weeks. Look at Denvers FF playoff sched:

Week 14: KC @ Denver

Week 15: Denver @ Houston

Week 16: Denver @ SD MONDAY NIGHT!!!

If Walker were healthy for that FF superbowl game against the awful Chargers secondary on MNF, that is a matchup you gotta love.

I have speculated all along that Javon would NOT play this week...week 6 is a bye week for DEN thus giving him nearly 4 full wks of rest before suiting up to play again. Having said that, if he dos NOT play in week 7, then clearly there is something all Javon owners should be concerned about. Some good PR coming from Javon though

You think so? I thought his comments were far more negative. It's hard to read tone on the written page but his comments struck me as someone who's a bit defeated by the injury since it clearly hasn't gotten better as quickly as he anticipated. Hope I'm wrong because I think he could be huge this season if healthy.

It could also be Walker's frustration that he wants to play and the team (and/or doctors) is deciding it's best to wait out the bye.

Walker says he thinks he might be ready for the Pittsburgh game on Oct. 21.

Not liking those two words. Doesn't sound very confident.

Friday quotes from Walker:

Walker, who has been ruled out of the game Sunday because he has had swelling and fluid on the back of his right knee, said Friday the injury will not require surgery to repair.

"No, no, no, no, it's nothing to do with surgery," Walker said. "It's just football. A lot of people's bodies react differently, and mine reacts with a little swelling and a little fluid and some of the other stuff that was in there. You've just got to let it settle down."

With the bye week to follow the game Sunday, the Broncos believe the extra rest should put Walker in a position to be far closer to practicing than he is now.

"The best thing sometimes is time," Walker said. "Like I said before, it has nothing to do with surgery; it's constantly going with offseason training . . . and a little wear and tear takes place where you've got to let it rest."

Walker, who did not play Sunday in Indianapolis or practice this week, is second on the team in receptions, with 19.
