Joique Bell (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

Joique Bell (concussion) is practicing in full for Week 6.

Barring a setback, Bell will be Detroit's clear-cut No. 1 running back for Sunday's game against the Vikings, as Reggie Bush (ankle) is appearing unlikely to suit up. Despite his early-season struggles, Bell will be ticketed for a massive workload if neither Bush nor Calvin Johnson can play, making him an RB2. Bell will be backed up by Theo Riddick, with George Winn likely getting some run, as well.

Maybe can finally get some ROI from this guy.

Major buy low right now. Juicy match-ups the next 4 weeks. Only healthy RB on team. He's set up.

Only concern is the offensive line, which has struggled, and the fact that in games without Calvin, Stafford has an atrocious passer rating, like in the 50s or something really, really bad. So that whole offense could implode if Calvin is out for a while.

Agreed. This is why DET gave him the money, and I assume why Bell was a sexy pick this season... he's got skills, Bush will miss some time (games maybe)... what's not to like.

True*.

* He's not that healthy. Anybody on the concussion watch is worrisome.

* The other RBs aren't that injured. Bush might actually dress and muck up the whole thing.

* George Winn. Just what we needed, another mouth to feed in that backfield.

ESPN Lions reporter Michael Rothstein said Joique Bell (concussion, probable) will see "somewhere in the realm of 15-to-18 carries" against the Vikings this week.

When asked what to expect from Bell, Rothstein replied "a whole bunch of carries." With Reggie Bush (ankle, questionable) not expected to play, Bell should see a full workload against a Minnesota defense that has given up the eighth most fantasy points per game to running backs. Bell has been a disappointment so far this season, but has a big chance to turn it around this week. He is a solid RB2.

Is Riddick going to play a large role this week? I know better than to listen to these clowns on TV but I keep hearing his name, much more than I'm hearing Bell anyway.

I think they mention Riddick over Bell because it's obvious Bell is going to get carries (i hope this is true at least). I heard Riddick would get a reduced Reggie Bush role (NFL Network).

Looks like he's the next one on my team to hit the waiver wire. We'll see what the second half holds, but even with the perfect storm of Bush being out he's not producing.

He looks great right now. I would love to see more of this earlier in games. He's just running over guys showing great vision.

Rotoworld:

Joique Bell rushed 18 times for 48 yards and a touchdown against the Saints Week 7.

He added 19 yards in the passing game, but had several bad drops. Bell did most of his damage in the second half, sparking the Lions' offense to a second-half surge for the second week in a row. Bell has played well the last two weeks, and get the Falcons' sieve of a run defense next time out. He will be a borderline RB1 in that matchup.

Totally wrong on him this year. Should have known with the transition from NO to DET coaching, that they'd keep the same 3-4 RB committee through the year.

Makes no sense to me, because outside of Riddick's TD, Joique looked WAY better the entire day. Whatever.

I packaged him and Lacy for Forte yesterday and that's starting to look like a great move.

Sadly Bell looks totally TD dependent this year even with Bush hurt. Another of my many misses at RB this year.

I wouldn't totally write off Joique yet. With Calvin likely coming back after the bye the offense could look a lot different.

Joique hasn't looked as bad as his stats suggest. The O-line has been pretty lousy, and Joique's turned a lot of potential losses into 3 or 4 yard gains. Calvin should create more space and perhaps more TD opportunities as well.

Quit it with the excuses. Today was the day. Facing the worst run defense in the league, with no Calvin and no Bush. If there was ever a golden opportunity for Bell, it was today. And he laid an egg.

Yeah it was bad. Tate is putting on a similar show at the moment. Bell just seems like one of those players that probably wouldn't have a significant role with any other team except the one he is on. I really did not like the contracts that the Lions gave to him and Pettigrew.

How do you figure Calvin not playing is good for Joique?

Joique is not a workhorse running back, and the Lions are not at all a power running team. In present form, they're just a bad offense all around, ranking bottom 10 in both scoring and yardage.

Get Calvin back, and the Lions should have a much better offense. That could create more TD opportunities for Joique and more space for the running game, much like last season. Obviously Riddick's pass catching is a concern though.

Very disappointing performance with Bush out. Probably droppable in many leagues. I own him in dynasty and will hold him, but he needs to redeem himself before he makes his way off the bench.

Yeah, its pretty obvious that Theo Riddick is solidly in the mix (writing was on the wall with the way he started that Vikings game). Once Bush is back this will be a weekly crap shoot.
