Jonathan Stewart Screen Pass Play (1 Viewer)

I was on that game at the time. IIRC, after looking at the replay, Bill Leavy said that Stewart's elbow touched the ground.

Great run.

I'll have to watch again on Short Cuts but they said his elbow hit the ground.

There were 2 plays this weekend that I didn't see how they over-turned. Had the ruling on the field been that he was down I would've agreed with the replay ruling. I watched the replay and I just don't see where they can tell for sure that the elbow was down. The other one was the Fred Jackson catch at the very end of the game. The camera angle was slightly behind the ball and you just couldn't quite tell, it was very close. The announcers said something about how his shadow wasn't even with the goal line and I was like  because unless the light source is straight above that isn't a very good indication either. I just didn't see enough to think they would over-turn. Maybe some backlash from last week where they didn't over-turn some that should've been.

Unless he had a camera angle no one else did I don't see how he can say that definitively. If it had been ruled down I would have been just as surprised to see it overturned. Seems to me there just wasn't enough conclusive video evidence to overturn the on the field call either way.

According to the announcers that was the best angle they had. This is a good example of the awful overturns we see in NFL these days. The camera was 70 yards away in a monsoon and Stewart was behind 2 different players. These refs need to be reintroduced to what the word indisputable means.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et_ePMpP-WMCheck out the shadows of the ref and other players. The sun was behind and to the right of the players. I think that was a good overturn based on indisputable evidence.

yea... there definitely was not indesputable evidence to overturn that... it went from 1st and goal on the 5 yd line to 3rd and 10 on the Panthers own 40 yd line.. and they didn't convert... Jacksonville got the ball back and scored in two plays... when the Panthers probably would have scored and wasted the clock before the half if the call had not been overturned.... it definitely could have affected the outcome of the game... and should not have been overturned...

The FJax thing was pretty clear to me, he was short of the goal line when his knee hit.
