Keary Colbert released by Seahawks
Seattle released wide receiver Keary Colbert on Tuesday, a roster move that became official at 1 p.m.
Colbert was acquired in a trade from the Denver Broncos after Week 2 for an undisclosed draft pick. The Denver Post reported it was a fifth-round pick, but it may in fact have been a conditional draft pick based on Colbert's performance with the Seahawks.
Colbert caught seven passes in seven games with the Seahawks and was responsible for two of the five passes dropped by Seattle players in Sunday's loss in Miami.
Colbert likely will be replaced on the 53-man roster by Courtney Taylor or perhaps Michael Bumpus. Taylor began the season as Seattle's starting flanker after looking impressive in offseason workouts, but he struggled early in the season and was demoted first to the bench and then to the practice squad.
Seattle has used 11 different wide receivers this season. It is expected the Seahawks will have Deion Branch for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Branch has missed the past five games after suffering a heel injury on Oct. 5 against the New York Giants.
