As I said the issue for me isn't being against gay marriage. Duh Pope gonna Pope. It's did he lie about the whole thing in that post tour interview? That's what would disappoint me. I at least expect this Pope to be upfront with people. Maybe I set my expectations too high. And if so that's on me. But I can tell you meeting with that troll hurt his image here with not just us hopeful non-believers but with many American Catholics as well. In fact a majority of Americans think she should do her job or move on.

What bugs me is that he spent time meeting this ignorant, hypocritcal nobody. How many sick or abused or whatever people would have loved to meet with the pope?

ROME — Pope Francis’ encounter with Kim Davis last week in Washington, which was interpreted by many as a subtle intervention in the United States’ same-sex marriage debate, was part of a series of private meetings with dozens of guests and did not amount to an endorsement of her views, the Vatican said on Friday.

Ms. Davis — the Rowan County, Ky., clerk who defied a judge’s order and refused to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples — was among the guests ushered into the Vatican’s embassy for a brief meeting with him, the Vatican said.

“The pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis, and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects,” the Rev. Federico Lombardi, the Vatican spokesman, said in a statement released on Friday morning.

Ms. Davis’s case has become a focal point in the debate over the tensions between religious liberty and marriage equality in the United States.

“Pope Francis met with several dozen persons who had been invited by the Nunciature to greet him as he prepared to leave Washington for New York City,” Father Lombardi said in the statement, referring to the Vatican’s term for its embassy.

He added: “Such brief greetings occur on all papal visits and are due to the pope’s characteristic kindness and availability. The only real audience granted by the pope at the Nunciature was with one of his former students and his family.”

I have difficulty believing this is true. I can't imagine he'd set aside 15 minutes on his short trip for this troll. Unless someone donated a lot of $$ to the church to make it happen.

I think people might have lead the Pope to believe she's a conscientious objector. He used that phrase to describe her the other day, but also said he doesn't personally know the details of her case. Can't wait for someone to fill him in. Pope got trolled. Literally trolled.
