This is accptable trade from a vikings fan stand point. If this is the deal that is done. Only thing I would take over this is top 10 pick. Even then I not sure Bulger is heck of QB if he can stay of the feild.![]()
I never saw this coming.

I had the same thought. I wonder if Minnesota is just blowing smoke trying to get a couple teams in a bidding war for a player that in all likelihood will be let go anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if "rumors" start circulating that the "before free agency deadline" for trading CPepp is somehow pushed back, and we're sitting here in 2 weeks still wondering where Culpepper will be playing next year.I would be surprised if Saban plays this game. But if he has done his homework and likes what he sees in Culpepper (eventhough I haven't read anywhere that they've actually had a face to face sit down meeting) then Nick will pull the trigger. Hard to believe he'd give up a 1st rounder this year or next. But who knows...I don't get the impression Saban would go for that, I think he would say fine and just go back to looking at drafting his QB.I'd like to throw out my uninformed, no basis in reality guess.
What if the Vikings strong armed the Dolphins saying "look, we have more money than you to throw at Brees and if you don't want to work something out for C-pep you gonna be sucking air come Sept. We will be sitting pretty with Brees and C-pep playing for your AFC rival (Oakland)". Offer up!
Done?
The news appears to have changed as of early this morning however, when Vikings board confirmed with no less than two sources that there are now other players in the mix.
"After the news of the Rams' offer became public, two other highly interested clubs decided to jump into the fray with more serious offers" said one source out of Minnesota. The other insider is telling us that the club most interested now is Oakland and "another AFC team".
Vikingsboard believes that team is the Miami Dolphins, but our insider refused to confirm or deny that
I'm shocked that a Vikings fan board called it a done deal before it was actually done. Who could have guessed that?

kitna perhaps? New rams OC greg Olson helped develop Jon Kitna at Central Washington,If Culpepper is out this long and the Rams rumor is true. Then the Rams also need to find another viable QB for the first half of the season. This trade makes little sense. He would except for the fact that he's probably pushing 300 lbs+ on his frame and his latest injury included not just a tear to his ACL, but also his MCL and PCL as well. Expected recovery time has him coming in healthy on November 1st, 2006.I'm factoring in a slightly longer rehabilitation due to his size and the fact that mobility is key to his success. Could he recover sooner than that? Of course, but I think the team needs to assume that he won't even be able to play next year. This makes his trade worth much less obviously so the Vikes will be sending out reports about how well he is progressing in his rehab. Just take them with a grain of salt imo. If he plays in week 1, I'll eat my crow sandwich. If Culpepper stayed in Minnesota why wouldn't he win the job over BJ? I just don't get the appeal of this deal for either team.
Hi, Have you read the rest of this thread? If Culpepper stayed in Minnesota why wouldn't he win the job over BJ? I just don't get the appeal of this deal for either team.I doubt thats the deal, but....how is that not a good trade for both teams? If Cpep is ready to play, he knows Linehan's system and has prospered in it. He'll help the offense get on track much earlier than it would with Bulger.I just don't see how this is a good trade for either team.
Cpep will NOT be the starting QB for Minny next year no matter what...whats wrong with getting a Pro Bowl QB for him?
I'm sorry, this is so obviously the Minnesota front office trying to manufacture a feeding frenzy. Not saying I'm complaining if it works (being a Viking fan) but things don't get more transparent than this.Done? The news appears to have changed as of early this morning however, when Vikings board confirmed with no less than two sources that there are now other players in the mix.

Can we please shelve our love and/or hate for PFT and try not to discuss it anytime they GUESS at something or post a RUMOR or whatever else. IT has gotten REALLY old.Good point... I overreacted. I guess it would be clearer that if people posted stuff like this, they labeled it clearly as a guess, rather than a rumor. PFT gets too much stuff right that they never get credit for from some people around here. I hate to see something they clearly label as a guess posted out here as one of their "rumors" that may be proven wrong, thus giving the haters more fodder.I agree with everything you said there, except the part about "it shouldn't be posted here." We speculate, other sites speculate, other sports people speculate. Speculate = guess. We post a lot of that stuff, so why exclude PFT or anyone from it? Yes, it should be labeled "guess", but it should still be posted. Perhaps that's what you meant and I didn't understand.Stop calling the PFT-Rams comment a "rumor". They said "Our guess (and it's only a guess) is that it'll be the Rams"
This is definitely a case where I agree with the people who say this shouldn't even be posted here as a rumor.I agree with all of that.PFT is not saying they have any inside information indicating this; it's just speculation. So they should get no credit for a 'scoop' even if it should turn out to be correct, and no derision for bad information if it doesn't come true. This is no different than us on here speculating where he might be traded other than Florio having a bigger audience. But at least he told us it was a guess and not a rumor.

That's Big D as in Dallas, not Denver, right? Also says TO is headed to Big D, more then likely.
if TO stays out of the AFC West.
AL Davis is probably more hungry to get Cpepp than Miami's ownership is...Moss looked like a waste of $$ past year, playing with Collins and the rest of that hapless offense..He's got Raiders written all over him...Culpep to Moss, part Deux...with Porter playing the role of C. Carter.

Geez, i was just jumping around last night trying to find a little info and I mentioned something about PFT saying something about CPepp going to the Rams, I dont believe I made a big deal out of it, just somethig I read, now we have people getting pissy all over the place!!Well...Can we please shelve our love and/or hate for PFT and try not to discuss it anytime they GUESS at something or post a RUMOR or whatever else. just want this trade thing to get over with and see how bad we get kicked in the groin again. lighten up people...Here's hoping Bongo's right. CPep needs a dominant WR who has the ability to go after the ball. All of these teams have a guy like that, at least if Braylon and KW2 are healthy.Adam Schefter just reported on the NFL Network that Oakland never even made an offer for Culpepper. It's down to two teams. Aside from Oakland, the Saints and Ravens are not involved.
That Bongo dude did say last night that Oakland was never involved and that it was between Miami, Arizona, and Cleveland.
Age concerns me... 38 at the start of the season? He was a top 7-8 QB in most leagues over the last half of the season. Any reason that would not continue?I think Minnesota goes into rebuild mode for a year. I see BJ doing aight, but nothing specatcular. Fantastic QB3, but that's about it. I also expect him to miss time due to age....But good for him if he gets one more nice signing bonus before he calls it a career....I would think that this will do wonders for the value of Brad Johnson
They would be unstoppable...plus Rackers will probably go the entire season without missing a FG and then in the NFC championship...never mind.Culpep + Edge + Fitz + Boldin =![]()

You left out the part about Denny deciding to take a knee instead of going for the win.Can they even afford Daunte?Warner just got paid.Culpep + Edge + Fitz + Boldin =![]()
I think warner's contract is cap friendly, not much guaranteed. They could get c-pepp and drop warner and not be affected much IIRCCan they even afford Daunte?Warner just got paid.Culpep + Edge + Fitz + Boldin =![]()

Man, I've got some serious problems being clear in this thread. I was referring to redman's unnecessary comment. Back on topic...Interesting if it was really that oakland backed out after they pushed negotiations to the last minute. I wonder if the Vikes kept shopping around trying to raise the price and the Raiders just got tired of it. If they did, it sounds a lot like the Leftwich draft a few years ago where the Vikings tried to keep raising the ante for their 1st rounder with jax and baltimore and waited so long that the thing fell through at the last second (and before we start an argument of why the deal fell through: whether Baltimore backed out, or they couldn't get through to the league office because Jax was tying up the lines is irrelevant. The point is that it happened and the Vikings couldn't react because they had tried to push the negotiations too close to the deadline.) instead of just getting a good deal agreed to with a team and sticking with it.Geez, i was just jumping around last night trying to find a little info and I mentioned something about PFT saying something about CPepp going to the Rams, I dont believe I made a big deal out of it, just somethig I read, now we have people getting pissy all over the place!!Well...Can we please shelve our love and/or hate for PFT and try not to discuss it anytime they GUESS at something or post a RUMOR or whatever else. The Dolphins, Raiders, and Titans were reportedly the 3 teams involved in the final bidding for Culpepper, according to Clayton.
Didn't they just re-sign both McNair and Volek?and interested in drafting Young? The Dolphins, Raiders, and Titans were reportedly the 3 teams involved in the final bidding for Culpepper, according to Clayton.Didn't they just re-sign both McNair and Volek?
Titans are a brow raising team to be interested in Pepper. Guess they arent very high on Vinny? Thats a telling tale considering Tenn needs a young qb.The Dolphins, Raiders, and Titans were reportedly the 3 teams involved in the final bidding for Culpepper, according to Clayton.
But it isn't like QB is the ONLY area of need for the Titans...if they can get Culpepper cheap it would allow them to get another position in the draft. Volek isn't really the answer and McNair has a year (maybe)...might be a good fit.Titans are a brow raising team to be interested in Pepper. Guess they arent very high on Vinny? A young "qb of the future" I could see, but bringing in 'Pepper would probably mean getting rid of one of the others (and taking a cap hit), unless they just think Daunte's injured and won't be a factor until year.and interested in drafting Young? The Dolphins, Raiders, and Titans were reportedly the 3 teams involved in the final bidding for Culpepper, according to Clayton.Didn't they just re-sign both McNair and Volek?

What's funny is that my comment was actually a sarcastic jab at PFT, as if to say that telling us it's a PFT rumor is unnecessary and redundant. you guys. Can't we all just get along? If this is true, I think it indicates that the supposed Rams deal was bogus.John Clayton just reported that the raiders and dolphins backed out becuase the Vikes are asking for a 2nd round pick for Culpepper.
Clayton also said that the unknown surprise team that was in on the bidding was actually the Tennessee Titans, but they weren't biting for a 2nd round pick either.
If a deal doesn't get done soon the Vikings may be stuck with him or they will have to lower their asking price too low to make it worth trading him.
A source said Dolphins coach Nick Saban and General Manager Randy Mueller traveled to Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday morning to meet with Brees, who was scheduled to travel today to New Orleans. A private charter airplane registered to Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga arrived in Birmingham from Fort Lauderdale this morning.
That deal was completely bogus, I think it was a message board rumor and nothing more. I have yet to see or hear any info that says the Rams were involved at all in the discussion. If this is true, I think it indicates that the supposed Rams deal was bogus.John Clayton just reported that the raiders and dolphins backed out becuase the Vikes are asking for a 2nd round pick for Culpepper.
