I would think this is a pretty basic question to answer. Knowing that Cecil Lammey specifically covers Broncos and is watching them practice daily, it should be pretty obvious that what he says is nearly fantasy gold as far as the Broncos are concerned.
With all due respect to Cecil, it just hasn't worked out that way as far as I can recall.
As others have mentioned, Hillman was the guy he raved about last year. He also was big on Montee Ball at the mid-way point of the season, speculating that he would take over for Moreno mid-season. And while he was rightly high on Julius Thomas, it was two years too early (back in 2011) which is kind of what I worry about with Latimer here.
Getting insider info on how guys are looking in practice is great, but I'm just not sure on how regularly that actually translates to production on the field, especially out of young players. I agree that I'd rather stash Latimer on my redraft bench than Caldwell for upside alone, but I don't think it's anywhere near a lock just because he's looked good in practice any more than Hillman was last year or Julius Thomas was way back in 2011.
