Levi Jones wants OUT

Jones asks Bengals for a trade out of Cincinnati

By Adam Schefter | NFL Network

Levi Jones, OT

Cincinnati Bengals

Career Statistics

GMs/GS: 84/79

Turns out Chad Johnson is not the only Bengal that has asked to be traded.

Former first-round pick Levi Jones recently asked the Bengals to trade him, though his issues have nothing to do with money. The offensive tackle has disagreements with Cincinnati's coaching staff.

As they did with Johnson, the Bengals told Jones they wouldn't trade him.

If Jones remains in Cincinnati, as the Bengals insist, he is not expected to attend the team's voluntary workouts. He will attend their mandatory functions, but he would like to be traded, a feeling he has voiced to the organization.

Levi had a weird season last year. He got hurt, wanted to come back but the coaching staff kept him out. He was even benched when healthy part of the time. This is a Levi-specific issue.

I think the players feel their window has closed. It may have, they sure were a great O recently but the D was always hurt.

I would figure some good tinkerring by a good GM could right the ship pretty easily but.....it seems like the players don't believe anymore.

Something I want to add and ask the people up in Cinci...do you feel the players that have been arrested in Cinci over the past 4-5 years...do you think all of them would have suffered the same fate in another city like New York, Miami, or even cities where the players are looked out for. it just seems like Cinci Police love to bust players on that team.

It isn't like they use pictures of Bengals in their lineup choices for people...oh wait they did that at least once...-QG

The coaching staff just needs to stick with their guns. It is no different then parenting, just because two of your children say they are pissed at you and would rather life with the Jones's who have huge pool and lots of money doesn't mean you ship them down there.

As soon as one of those athletes get their way, that whole team will unravel. I just see a lot of players trying to protray that the situation there is terrible in hopes the GM will get rid of coaching staff. But in all reality that coaching staff brought that team up from the laughing stock of the league for past 10 years.

No way in heck, that coaching staff gets the boot.

Cinci is paying for drafting non-character guys. Henry, Thurman, Jones, etc

How exactly is Levi not a character guy? Never mind. But anyhow this isn't a guy who had flags when we drafted him. Frankly we'd get a good deal for him in a trade I think, though I think he is replaceable with what we have.-QG

He never said Levi was a non-character guy. In fact, nobody did.

Um, what's that then?Anyhow the never mind was based on an arrest 3-years ago and the dude has kept it clean since then. I think that Levi's pissed he went into the doghouse.

Apologies, I had read that as 'Johnson'. (Ocho Stinko)

Levi was a band memeber in school, how non-character can he be?

He played poorly last year and got Carson almost killed against the Chiefs. When he thought he was healthy he did not get his starting gig back right away. He may have not been told he was assured a starting spot as a motivational ploy. Right now the depth chart has Whitworth on the bench. He is more than capable to play every down at LT.

People hating to play in Cincy goes back to the Corey Dillon days and maybe further.
It's stunning people don't put this franchise on the Cardinals/Detroit level. With a "Fantasy" offense it's sometimes hard to be objective about a team. If I'm remembering this right just one winning record since 1990?

The franchising of Stacey Andrews makes A LOT more sense now.
 They've spent 4 years developing him, they weren't going to let him walk. Willie Anderson is on his last legs, and Levi Jones can't stay healthy. Them tagging Andrews had nothing to do with this.

That Chiefs game was more on the coaching staff than Jones. There's no shame in getting beaten by the league's best pass rusher especially when you are playing hurt. They could have easily doubled Allen that whole game.I have no idea why Jones was benched, but he seems to have a more legit beef with the organization than Johnson does.

He played poorly last year. Either he tried to come back when he shouldnt have, or he just plain got lazy. He is still steaming over not being let in the lineup earlier. Not sure why, since he played poorly and didnt seem to be ready to come back when he did.

I'm not.I've seen the Bengals play in two Superbowls. Never seen the Cardinals or Lions in either. As recent as two years ago CIN was 11-5. The last time DET had 11+ wins was 1991. The last time the STL/PHX/ARZ Cardinals had 11+ wins was 1975.

That 11-5 was their only winning season in the last 17 years.

Yeah, and it's been 33 years since DET has won 11 games. There is simply no comparison between these two franchises imo.

A kid I grew up with was a UDFA for them in 96 (I think, same year as his teammate Plummer) and couldn't wait to get out of there as soon as his 3 year deal was up. He said the Bidwells in AZ, back then when they were worse, were a lot better than being in Cinci.
