Being on steroids does not mean you look like David Boston. It means you recover faster, your body repairs itself better, and performs better.Steroids taken in moderation will accomplish the above. Steroids taken in excess will result in Barry Bonds

I can definitely see Dunn being a candidate for this. He has lasted very long in the NFL for someone of his size.

However, no one has come out and said this is steroids. I believe what I've read was that it was a weight loss pill with some additives that are banned by the NFL- possibly linked to masking steroids

I think that is the case for banned substances (weed, coke) but steroid/performance enhancers are more serious. I could be wrong too, but off the top of my head, I think they can face a 4 game susp. for this.

You actually have the policy right for recreational drugs. For performance enhancing drugs and masking agents, the policy is much stricter. I was able to find more info here.Basically, a player testing positive is subject to an immediate 4 game suspension. An example earlier this year is Jesse Chatman, who as I recall did not appeal. A player testing positive for a masking agent (in this case the water pill), is treated the same as if that player tested positive for a performance enhancing drug. My understanding is that as soon as the appeals process is completed, assuming the appeal is denied, these players will be immediately suspended.

That is hardly a "terrible swipe"All he did was point out that he's a very small RB, small RBs don't last long in the NFL. Therefore it makes sense he would be using steroids after this comes out. He's not calling out his moral character, just his NFL character. Him being on steroids doesn't take away any of the homes he bought for anyone... nor does buying homes for single moms give him the okay to go use steroids.

The fact is he tested positive for a banned substance linked to masking steroid use. He may have been using steroids. Just because he buys homes doesn't mean he'd never cheat the system to try and extend his career. He was using a substance banned by the NFL. Guilty. Maybe his 4 game suspension will allow him to go check out the housing market (now there is a swipe)

I wouldn't say that Graham is the second string back here. He stepped up for the team and moved to FB becasue of injuries but is still putting up some good fantasy numbers. If Dunn is suspended, I think Graham becomes a stud RB in the TB offense.

if he's on the list, he deserves examination...it does make some sense as steroids are often more about recovery than growth and someone his age could need that benefit.I'm not saying he did or didn't but it does make some sense.

I'm pretty sure what you're referring to is for other drugs. I think steroids (and presumably masking agents for them) are an automatic 4 game the first time.Now, that being said, IF there is an explanation such as an ingredient that wasn't listed on the bottle of something legit the players were taking (I heard someone on ESPN throw this out-- have no idea where they were getting the info/speculation), I can see the league making an exception or a reduced penalty.

If Dunn really is one of the players, I'm inclined to think that there is some kind of explanation. Not that good guys don't make mistakes, but I'd be pretty surprised if he was doing something shady.

1. In this situation, the rules clearly state that the process (including appeals) must be resolved no later than when 4 games remain in the regular season.

2. The Saints players were taking a supplement that does not show the name of the banned substance on its label. Because of this, their attorneys are considering suing the manufacturer, among other extreme measures.

3. NFL policy states that NFL players are responsible for what they put in their bodies, no excuses. If they have a question, they are supposed to take a substance to their trainer, who has the ability to have the substance tested. Presumably, that did not happen here, and thus an appeal is unlikely to be successful.

Assuming a professional football player is not on steroids because he weighs 185 and is a model citizen is just as bad as assuming these pending suspensions are for steriods, and not water pills or something else.

For the record I would put Deuce McAllister in the same mold. Both Dunn and Mcallister are very honorable guys that do a lot for people outside football. Its a shame if its true.

Only 2 players (Duece & Smith) on the OP's list have been named so far. The OP's list was way off. He was just posting what he heard, but the source he got the list from was wrong. Maybe something will come out in the future about other players, but I questioned the valdity of that list as soon as I saw Dunn's name on it.
