Looting in Missouri after cops shoot 18 year old (1 Viewer)

CNN is reporting that Wilson had a swollen face but didn't suffer any fractures.
Apparently it was some kind of weird leak to a KooK.

So very possible Brown didnt hit or attack the officer again?
No matter what Wilson will always have his "He tried to grab my gun defense". I can't believe so many people go for this.
Look at how the police played card that in the other article I just linked to by the dad whose white son was killed by police.

How did his face get swollen? Allergic to black people?
who says he had even a swollen face ? hard to believe any reports at this point

So now they're walking back the "severely beaten", "fractured orbital" statements? I've watched the videos taken directly after the shooting several times. The officer doesn't look like he is any way a victim of a severe beating. He stands around for a while, walks back and forth up and down the street. Doesn't call for an ambulance. I'm just not buying it.

yup....george zimmerman played that angle like a pro
Yes, because criminals are so much more believable.

Cool how they let it hang out there for a couple days to whip up a nice frenzy in the usual suspects....

Apparently 'unnamed sources' has changed his story again

Dammit
No CNN has to get something out there quickly to fire up the protests and riots again. Did you see last night? People were calm and peaceful and protesting within the law. CNN needs to get that changed real quick like because the weekend is coming and we can't have this. Rating People. Ratings!!

Honestly, an alleged orbital fracture being downgraded to face swelling likely doesn't affect Wilson's defense. For Wilson's face to still be swollen when he finally got to the hospital, which was presumably a significant period of time after the impact that caused the swelling, the impact must have been severe. Wilson's attorney can still argue that Wilson was harshly struck in the face by Brown and, as a result, Wilson had legitimate fear that Brown would continue to attack.

This kind of injury is easy to fake (I'm not saying he got his buddy to punch him hard) so he may not get a lot of sympathy from the other side.

Good point. Is there any evidence or report Wilson had any medical treatment at all, of any kind?

What was this guy thinking trying to protect himself against a 290 lb guy...
Wilson must show that he feared for his life. So if Wilson wasn't the victim of a severe beating, then his case for killing Brown becomes weaker. Moreover, if the report that Wilson suffered a fractured eye socket was false, then the report's claim that there's evidence of stuggle for the gun is also dubious.

You have to appreciate that unnamed sources are only credible when they are reporting what you want to hear. I mean, cnn is using an unnamed source to counter a statement by another unnamed source.

I don't agree with your analysis. If the kid did try to grab the cop's weapon once and then he started charging the cop again that would cause the cop to fear for his life whether or not he had suffered a severe beating. As a matter of fact it would meet that requirement even if the kid had never hit him. Cops are not required to physically fight someone and risk having their gun taken away from them. Especially when that person has already demonstrated his intent to take the weapon.

A good family friend is a cop in a city bordering Newark.

He's a complete nut job. Probably from the job, but a bit of predisposition too. I could see him making a mistake and shooting a kid on accident. It happens. No one can deny it happens.

All we can do is wait and see. Watch it unfold. But the inquiry is justified. It should always be justified when someone is killed. Even when the big bad wolf is the one shot in the street.
I wish we had a better system in place to filter out the nutjobs in the department. Can't argue there... they exist, and they don't need to.

Unforutnately when you have a job like LEO where you pay poorly but have extremely high expectations and stress levels, it's a recipe for disaster. You're not going to get top of the line candidates to risk their lives for $35-45k a year.... at least not many. You'll get some who really care and want to make a difference. But most just want the paycheck.
Those guys need to move to CA. Officers here average more than twice that and get 90% pension at 55.

What? If Wilson wasn't the victim of a severe beating and there's no evidence of a struggle for the gun, then his case for shooting Brown seems much weaker than has been stated by people here, including me, who were basing it off of the Fox report.

Wilson doesn't have to show anything actually. Probably like George Z, if he ever goes to trial he'll never testify. Just have his defense team question the witnesses, get a jury dominated by older white people, and then his lawyer argues the state can't prove it (which is probably true). And he'll walk.

As a matter of fact it would meet that requirement even if the kid had never hit him. Cops are not required to physically fight someone and risk having their gun taken away from them. Especially when that person has already demonstrated his intent to take the weapon.
Hence why I said the claim that there's evidence Brown grabbed for his gun was dubious. If I recall correctly, both claims came from the same source.
I was addressing your legal analysis not the strength of the evidence--which we really don't have much of at this point.
What? If Wilson wasn't the victim of a severe beating and there's no evidence of a struggle for the gun, then his case for shooting Brown seems much weaker than has been stated by people here, including me, who were basing it off of the Fox report.
This:

Wilson must show that he feared for his life. So if Wilson wasn't the victim of a severe beating, then his case for killing Brown becomes weaker.

CNN is reporting that Wilson had a swollen face but didn't suffer any fractures.
shocker
What was this guy thinking trying to protect himself against a 290 lb guy...
Wilson must show that he feared for his life. So if Wilson wasn't the victim of a severe beating, then his case for killing Brown becomes weaker. Moreover, if the report that Wilson suffered a fractured eye socket was false, then the report's claim that there's evidence of stuggle for the gun is also dubious.
Your conclusion might have been correct. You had a 50/50 shot. The basis for your conclusion is bunk.

So while Brown was bum rushing Wilson for the distance of 20 or 30 feet was he staring at the ground ?Im trying to figure out how the bullet went into the top of his head
