Manti Te'o's girlfriend who died... (1 Viewer)

Fun to watch the rest of the FFA get a taste of what the ACC Basketball thread has had to put up with for years.
Agreed...I found it odd to see Pantherclub so invested in anything other than the ACC thread. Looks like this story has touched on something that speaks intimately to him on some level...wonder what it could be?

Can someone explain to me the "strict religious culture" of the Samoans? Was that report about another third gender (basically gays) being embraced so wonderfully and completely in their culture some kind of Onion article?Something doesn't jibe.

It wasn't an Onion article, Fa'afafines are definitely a big part of Samoan culture. Now, the whole third gender thing is rather silly but apparently they prefer that name to ######.

The point I made in another thread is somewhat intertwined: Te'o is LDS. Doing the math of students at ND, and that LDS typically don't date outside their faith, it is easier to understand why he wasn't roaming campus with his pick of the litter.

Yeah, that's not a rule that goes unbroken.

Is there a link for this? I honestly dont remember seeing or hearing this? I know there was a supposed rebound chick that one of the sites ran a picture with but thats all I remember.

I saw an interview with a student at ND who said the same thing. And there were also reports somewhere that a girl called him a 'player'.

This whole thing just doesn't make any sense. If he's trying to cover up being gay, that's believable, but multiple people conspiring to create a fake girlfriend, talking for hundreds of hours on the phone, involving family, lying about many things, claiming to fake being a girl when you didn't, etc. is simply insane. I don't understand why somebody would do it. What were they getting out of it? Mind blown.

Either he's gay and is now getting other people to help cover it up after he figured out that his original plan was ridiculous, or all parties involved are clinically insane.
Pretend you're gay. And that you live in an insanely religious environment where coming out is more than frowned on. And that you're connected to lots of men that you'd like to talk to, but can't.Maybe Ronniah could pretend he had a real relationship that was forbidden to him any other way. And he could punch way above his weight, with a celebrity!

Not saying that's how it went down, but it seems a lot more likely than Manti being in on it now.
Sounds like that's how it went down. Good news is that it doesn't look like Te'o was in on it.

Tuiasosopo said he was the voice of Kekua but initially refused to recreate it when pressed by McGraw. He eventually agreed to do the voice behind a privacy screen, something McGraw promised to show during part two of the interview on Friday.

It's supposedly about to happen..

That interview was nearly impossible to watch. It was about as informative as Simone's explanation of Ferris Bueller's illness to Ben Stein.

Did anybody (Jim Gray/Katie Couric) ever ask Manti if there were other girls at the same time he was supposedly dating Lennay? Because Ronaiah implies it, but I take everything he says with a grain of salt

So after all of this, is there anyone outside of Idiot Boxer that still doesnt believe Manti was in on this from the word go? Manti is gay and I wish he would come out. It would be an awesome social experiment to see how NFL teams would treat this? Would he get drafted, if so what round?

I think it's safe to say Chris Culliver would frown on that.

Prediction: Tuiasosopo goes behind the screen presumably to do the "Lennay" voice and breaks out into the first verse from his debut album. Dr. Phil starts nodding along and forgets the whole thing. A brief infomercial follows in the remaining five minutes.

Yes, they matched the voicemails Te'o gave Couric but is there any evidence those voicemails were not produced after this all happened?

Manti attributes his 4.8 40 yesterday to 'exhaustion'....since he usually runs in the 4.5 range:http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2013/2/25/4030294/2013-nfl-combine-manti-teo-40-yard-dash-pro-day

Yea, I heard that too. This guy has some problems. No way your 40 changes that dramatically.

Yeah, also he's used to running towards his girlfriend's pretty corpse so he was a little lost.

So, when he gets run over by a running back in an NFL game, he can blame that on exhaustion?
