Combining production (332 yards), lack of mistakes (no TOs) and rating (102.5) that was the best game Mark Sanchez has ever had.

Looking at his stats again he had 54% completion rate which is typical sanchez and he had 2 fumbles, both recovered by his own team. I am not seeing a drastically different player from 2009/10 Sanchez.
And that's good enough for a deep playoff run but not exactly fantasy gold.

Both of the fumbles were drops of the center snap in the shotgun. They could have been the center's fault. One he fell on right away, the other he picked up and got a throw off.
Agree - one fumble was a bad snap. I don't remember the other one.
I said in the McCoy thread that I believe Chip Kelly game-planned for a run-heavy defensive front, and had a lot of quick throws & play action. That kind of stuff can help a QB a lot. The thing that impressed me most about Sanchez though was that he was generally accurate.
Next week... I'm not so sure about that. If GB plays a more balanced defensive game, Sanchez will be tested to read the defense a lot more than he was in this game.
If you don't own one of the top 4-5 QBs, I'd say he's worth a flyer.

There were several dropped passes.
That stat is very misleading.
Also, it was clear he was a little jittery on the first couple of drives.
After that, anyone that doesn't realize the guy played a pretty damn good game wasn't watching.
Sanchez looked really good in the second half, shaking off trouble, climbing the pocket, and making accurate throws. I'm a Palmer owner, and was originally grabbing RG3 to fill the void, but decided to pick up Sanchez as well after that game. I'm worried about him at Lambeau, but I might just start him anyway because I hate trusting my team to RG3.

Sanchez may suck seaweed @GB, but that doesn't change how he looked against CAR (which for some reason people refuse to admit).

Regardless of what he does going forward, he looked much more comfortable in the pocket than Foles. He stepped up instead of drifting back 10 yards and throwing off his back foot. Looked more confident than Foles too. Could all change in GB, but I'm optimistic it'll be a good game.

Sanchez has to play better this week if the Eagles are going to win, but even if Sanchez proves to be a step down from Foles it probably won't be a huge step with the way Foles was playing this year.

I kept hearing Sanchise and Jordan Matthews have good rapport so I used my #1 spot on Matthews. Will this develop into a beautiful relationship or was it just a one week thing? Thoughts?

GB has faced some pretty horrible QBs (Cutler, Ponder, Geno Smith, Tannehill, a dinged up Newton) and gave up a lot of yards/TDs to the one solid QB they faced. (Brees 311/3TDs). So, I think/hope this will be a decent matchup for him. I think the GBs weakness against the run (143ypg) and the improved health of the Eagle's OL will allow Sanchez room to throw.

He came a knee short from scoring 33 in my league (McCoy got the easy TD), 25 still good. No turnovers although on one play the defender came a toe tap short of an INT, however this was on the sideline with one on one and still a good bet where he threw it. It's a good performance vs a bad defense which is what QB1s should do. Actually I give him more credit because the Defense scored on a pick6 and there was an early scoring play by special teams and an early rushing TD, so he very easily could have put up 10-12 points running out the clock, but with his situation they can run up the score so for fantasy he actually did better than most fantasy QBs would do with a big lead. Contrast this with Vick scoring 20 points in the 1st Q last week and looking on pace for a big game and then that coaching staff sitting on the lead. its a good situation for Sanchez, and much better than anything in his past with a defensive minded coach. This is an uber offensive minded coach he has now so I throw out his time with the Jets as just a bad learning experience.

Defenses will adjust to Matthews.
Well, for better or worse I've hitched my playoff bound team to Sanchez after Palmer went down. Dear lordy save me.
Of note: Green Bay moved Clay Matthews to MLB instead of OLB for their last game and got significantly more pressure on the QB as well as better run defense. I expect that move to stick this week as well, and I'm deeply concerned that Sanchez is going to get lit up light a christmas tree. On the flip side, this may mean more quick hitters to Sproles for 70 yards and a TD. Fingers crossed!

Folks may want to ease up on Mathews for this week.
CAR slot DBs absolutely horrible. Think PHI gameplan was to attack this weakness. Thus, Mathews. Previous chemistry certainly doesn't hurt.
That said, GB slot CB may be their strength.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Mathews results a bit average this week and Maclin step right back into the lead role.
Chip Kelly actually said in the post-game interview that this was their exact strategy. He's very good at attacking the weakest defensive link.

As a Maclin owner, that would be awesome....but as an Eagles fan, I think you are wrong. It will take more than one great game for opponents to game plan for Matthews...with Maclin/McCoy/Sproles on the field, I have a feeling their attention will be on these guys instead of a relatively unproven rookie.

I can't imagine when a DC is game planning for the Eagles they'll have Matthews high up on the "stop" list. If they do, I'm sure the O will just take whatever matchup advantage the defense gives them. You can't stop all the weapons.
Clay was not lined up at MLB the whole game though. He was used all over the field and there is no guarantee the Packers even use him there that much next game.
I know ESPN Radio has been all over it and wondering how Clay will be used moving forward, their take it would seem would be to keep using Clay at ILB while still giving him opportunities at the OLB position based on packages.

Again that's this year's Foles. Last year's Foles did those things and made all the throws. Its a lot easier to come in as the backup with no expectations. He isn't the first guy to have a sophomore slump.

I'd be mildly worried if I'm Maclin, Ertz, and even Desean owners. Sanchez built chemistry working with the second unit. That's why second unit guys like the rookie Matthews and reserve TE Celek had big games. It's who he knows. Going forward, working with the first unit that should correct itself though. I hope.

Really wasn't a knock on Foles. I've been a supporter of his throughout. But in a 1 game sample, Sanchez looked much more comfortable right now than Foles has so far this year. It was a 1-game improvement over what the Eagles have had thus far in '14.

I know. I've just been hearing it all week on talk radio how Foles is garbage and how quickly people forget last year. You don't just accidentally throw 7tds in a game or go 29-2.

Yeah, that's not why they had a good game. It had more to do with the defensive game plan Carolina had.

Majority of what Sanchez and Matthews accomplished was pitch and catch against terrible coverage. It's not hardly that complicated, if you have some talent on your team, to make those throws a bit more complicated. Lets see how this plays out when the defense/teams isn't giving him great field position and he's not playing a team that has won 1 of their last 8 games. I don't think it ends as well as everyone thinks.

no, I'm as comfortable with Sanchez as I was w/ Foles--that is to say very comfortable. That offence is so QB and RB friendly the opponent doesn't sway me too much

I'm definitely worried starting Sanchez at Green Bay. I know Sanchez looked solid against Carolina but he literally had all day to make throws. He should've been picked off on one of them but the guy didn't get both feet in.

Started him over Brees last week, which worked out, though it was close. Considering rolling him out again as I'm not in love with Brees' matchup

I disagree with him looking comfortable. He just looked like he had better protection to me, some of the best I've seen this year. His footwork was off at times too. When he had pressure he looked just like Nick and got away with some stuff.
