Mark Sanchez (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

Mark Sanchez completed just 17-of-28 passes for 252 yards and two interceptions in Sunday night's Week 15 loss the Cowboys.

It was another disastrous start from Sanchez, who was sacked four times and threw two costly second-half interceptions. Nearly a third of his yards came on a short pass that Jeremy Maclin turned into a 72-yarder. Sanchez's play the last two games has the Eagles in danger of missing the playoffs. With Nick Foles a candidate to return next week, Sanchez could be relegated to backup duties.

Thoughts on Sanchez today? Washington pass D is terrible and Foles had a great week against them in week 3. I think I'm rolling with him over A Smith, but with a complete lack of confidence.

Yeah same decision here. He scares me, but I'm an underdog, swinging for the fences. Was run d is solid so they are going to have to throw to move the ball against an awful secondary...Alex Smith is prob the safer play. Also I want a reason to watch the game today...

This. Sanchez has the upside. You know what to expect from Smith. Sanchez hasn't been as bad as people are saying. He still gives the Eagles a chance to scrap into the playoff just like any good backup should. He also was never as good as people were saying either. Guys were acting like he would retire an Eagle. It's more likely he starts for the Browns next year. #endrant

I don't think Sanchez is a bad play today. Only way he's a starter next year is if he's a placeholder for a rook. I don't think the Browns would do that to their fans unless they're masochists.

Typical Sanchez game, took advantage of a really bad D, couple turnovers. Overall happy fantasy wise. Would have been nice to have a little more garbage time an a TD, but I'll take it.

Rotoworld:

Coach Chip Kelly said Mark Sanchez, not Matt Barkley, will start Week 17's meaningless finale against the Giants.

With Sanchez's one-year contract set to expire, there's been a lot of talk in Philadelphia that Barkley should start Sunday so the Eagles can see what they have. Kelly doesn't want to hear it. It's both an indictment of Barkley and affirmation that Kelly is going to play this game to win -- not evaluate. The Eagles have lost three straight games under Sanchez, getting eliminated from the playoffs while Week 1 starter Nick Foles (collarbone) continues to rehab. Foles' rookie deal is up after the 2015 season.

Rotoworld:

New coach Rex Ryan conceded that the Bills' quarterback situation is "unresolved."

"Unresolved" is putting it nicely. With Kyle Orton calling it quits, the only quarterbacks on the Bills' roster right now are E.J. Manuel and Jeff Tuel. It's an even worse situation than what Ryan dealt with for most of his tenure with the Jets. Speaking of that tenure, Rex said that free agent Mark Sanchez will "certainly" be under consideration as an addition. The regime change won't save Manuel.

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports the Titans are showing "decent interest" in free agent Mark Sanchez.
It's a wonder Sanchez hasn't played for Ken Whisenhunt already. Sanchez had decent success playing for manager-and-manipulator Chip Kelly in 2014, but would be a disaster waiting to happen in Tennessee. In theory, he'd be an excellent bridge/insurance policy for second-year pro Zach Mettenberger, but the odds are extremely long he'd have success with Whiz. Whiz needs future Hall-of-Famers to have success at quarterback.

Rotoworld:

Eagles re-signed QB Mark Sanchez to a two-year, $9 million contract.
The deal includes $5.5 million guaranteed. Sanchez can earn another $7 million via incentives. It's believed announcing Jeremy Maclin's re-signing is next on the docket for the aggressive Eagles. Sanchez, 28, finished the 2014 season with a 64.1 completion rate, 14:11 TD-to-INT ratio, and 7.8 YPA -- all career bests -- but got worse the more he played and shouldn't be viewed by the Eagles as more than a desperate option to start games. As the Eagles are very likely to draft a quarterback, the re-signing of Sanchez signals that Nick Foles is on his way out, likely via trade.

Why anyone would give this guy a guaranteed 5 million $ is beyond me. I liked all of Kelly's moves til this one.

Rotoworld:

Mark Sanchez said his arm feels "better and stronger" another year removed from shoulder surgery.

Sanchez missed all of 2013 with a torn labrum, and he felt like that injury affected his arm strength last season. "First thing, physically, I feel so much better," Sanchez said. "The farther it gets away from surgery and all the reps I've had, all the rehab on through, it only can get better and better and stronger." Sanchez has unsurprisingly expressed a desire to start. The Eagles likely hope it will not come to that, but with Sam Bradford already struggling with his surgically repaired knee, it is possible Sanchez is forced into a starting role at some point this season.

Rotoworld:

Coach Chip Kelly said Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez are openly competing for the starting quarterback job.

If all goes according to plan, Bradford will win the job with ease. The Eagles dealt Nick Foles and a second-round pick for Bradford and his $13 million salary. He's not going to sit behind Sanchez if healthy. But Bradford has yet to participate in any 11-on-11 drills with his new team, allowing Sanchez to take all the first-team reps. Sanchez has reportedly looked impressive in his second year in Kelly's system. The plan is for Bradford (torn ACL) to be cleared for the start of camp.

Rotoworld:

Mark Sanchez completed 2-of-7 passes for 52 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles' preseason opener against the Colts on Sunday.

For those who believe Sanchez is competing with Sam Bradford for the starting job, this performance showed why Bradford is the guy in Philadelphia. Sanchez missed open receivers on multiple occasions, failing to connect with TE Trey Burton for what would have been a LONG touchdown on the first play of the game and then missing a wide-open Jordan Matthews streaking across the middle for a would-be 34-yard score. On his touchdown pass, Sanchez threw above Nelson Agholor's head, but Agholor was able to leap up for the bad pass, snare it, and chew up YAC for the 34-yard score. The rookie did all the work.

he's not very good. that said, he could still have value as he did last year.

He did look bad in the first preseason game. He just looked off. But I won't worry about it unless he looks the same in the 2nd preseason game. I think he will come around.

He will almost certainly run this offense better. He's got another year of experience in it and another year of strengthening his shoulder. Unfortunately, he will also still throw back breaking picks at the most inopportune times. It will be interesting if he lights it up against TB and Detroit...does Chip go back to Bradford when he's healthy?

Sanchez has to be a boost to this offense. Bradford looks very shaky at times and not in sync with his receivers.

I think Sanchez will have a good game and make it hard for Chip to switch back to Bradford.
