Like Breaking Bad, Hawkeye's penultimate was the masterpiece while the finale was simply good.

So, just remembered that there were 2 episodes after Ozymandis, but whatever...my point about Hawkeyes still stands that #5 was the best episode.

I learned from watching James Stenbeck on As the World Turns, if there isn't a body, the dude isn't dead.  My guess is that Echo shot him in the chest.  That suit he's wearing is made of a tailored bullet-proof material, so her shot isn't all that fatal.

I think they realize that they (Marvel) are in danger of losing some fans who don't want the multiverse stuff.

I can't be sure about they do realize this.

Spiderman was their big leap into the multiverse world for the general MCU fan who does not watch every tv show.

Spiderman is killing it across every single metric.  Both fan reviews and critical reviews are fabulous and most importantly it is absolutely crushing it at the box office so far.

If they had concerns that they were going to lose fans, I don't think the Spiderman results are going to give them any sleepless nights on doing more Multiverse stuff I bet.

Although it only takes one bomb to make them rethink so Dr Strange will be another important marker for the people in charge.

99% sure he is alive.  A cardinal rule is if you don't see the body/kill, there is an extremely high likelihood that they intend to bring the character back.

Echo/Maya is getting her own tv series and with Kingpin being added so late to Hawkeye it makes me think he will be used as the protagonist for the new series to keep continuity.

This is similar to my thoughts.  The way I put it was each episode was better than the previous one.  The first one really was kinda meh.  The next pretty good.  From the third on I was really excited about each new episode.  Really well done in my opinion.

I think they realize that they (Marvel) are in danger of losing some fans who don't want the multiverse stuff.  Spiderman may be setting the stage for more "ground level" heroes.  Kingpin won't be the Thanos of any MCU arc, but he could surely be a player in things.

For sure Kingpin could be the main villain in a Spiderman or Daredevil movie keeping it a bit more grounded and there are some great arcs there to exploit. And that would be more in line with what those characters do in their own books. Although Spidey is more cosmic than DD by a long shot.

This was me too. It was a ton of fun because of all the nostalgia, and pretty funny at times, but I just couldn’t get past how idiotic the whole sequence was that kicked off the major plot of the movie. I know it’s a comic book movie, it’s not a suspension of disbelief thing, I just thought Strange behaved as though he didn’t have a working brain or an understanding of how basic conversations work and it soured the rest of it for me.

I’m familiar with the trope, but the cut away  in that scene struck me as more of a “Disney doesn’t want to show someone’s head getting blown off” as opposed to “we’re leaving this character’s fate purposefully ambiguous.”

Following that train of though about a doctor and a MIT candidate not being able to hold an intelligent conversation - they previously discussed having everyone forget Parker = Spider Man and showed why it got messed up - and the solution to the later threat was to have everyone forget Parker?  Shouldn't it just have been make everyone forget Parker = Spiderman - which was already discussed?  Instead they go the illogical route for the sake of setting up that storyline.

It's not a great movie but it was great fun for the last hour or so.

Kilgrave is arguably the best villain in the entire MCU (movies and tv).   David Tennant tore up every second of the screen time he was on.

It is ironic that the two best villains in the MCU (Kilgrave and Fiske) were stuck on the Netflix shows that too many people missed out on.

Luke Cage and Iron Fist were "meh" at best.   I watched them mostly because I wanted all the back stories before I watched the Defenders (which brings them all together on one season).

I really liked Daredevil but I am good taking a break for JJ.

I enjoyed Luke Cage as a whole but admit it meandered quite a bit. Still you at least must watch the first half of Season 1 if for no other reason then Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth. He was fantastic. Alfre Woodard was solid in this show as well.

It is. But season 2 was so bad that I didn’t watch season 3. And I watched every season of Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

The first half of Luke Cage was good but it took a nosedive quickly. Personally I loved Daredevil and the Punisher on Netflix but the rest of the series were disappointing. People seem to love Jessica Jones. I did not.

I will never understand how making Danny Rand some surfer/stoner dude was the direction they decided to take it. Also find it hard to believe that the actor impressed during his audition. I loved the character back when I read the comic books so it was by far the most disappointing Marvel series for me.

Luke was up and down for me. Season 2 was better imo. Alfe Woodard being in both LC and civil war was a little confusing at first, but not the same character. 

I will never understand how making Danny Rand some surfer/stoner dude was the direction they decided to take it. Also find it hard to believe that the actor impressed during his audition. I loved the character back when I read the comic books so it was by far the most disappointing Marvel series for me.

It was, but Colleen mostly saves it for me. Her and Claire are among my favorite characters.

As did I. But I like crossovers and when they bring separate characters together. I thought they did it well bringing them together.  Not sure Sigourney Weaver worked well as the villain, but overall I thought it was good.

My understanding was they were always considered "MCU Adjacent".  They referenced events in the MCU with vague terms or pictures behind characters (Newspaper article on a wall talking about the battle of NY).  Will be interesting to see if the backstories or origins are kept from the Netflix versions or they are rewritten with the same actors.

I started rewatching DD and the first couple eps refer to the Battle of NY as "The Incident".  They also talk about all the destruction that happened and rebuilding.  Once of the villains remarked he was happy another hero type was running around because of the destruction they cause helps their margins go up.  They even talk about how a person doesn't need an suit of metal or a magic hammer to be a hero.

Kind of agree here, but I think some of the shows should get graded on a curve bc of COVID (FAWS mainly). Defenders is good if you simply ignore Iron fist as a character.

I think that Jessica Jones likely doesn't translate over simply because it was "darker" and more alcohol/Sex ridden than Daredevil (so less "Disneyesque") but seeing MM in Spiderman and Kingpin in Hawkeye does give me hope.

Haven't read in quite a while, posting without catching up so as to avoid spoilers.  Spiderman: NWH was a great, sad movie.

Part of me wishes it was more triumphant.  Part of me is thankful for the sacrifice.  Either way, I have zero ragrets for watching it, and neither do my wife nor son.  Good, good movie.

Not sure I'd go that far, very tough comparisons.  Let's make a list! I do recognize I suffer from recency bias so I will try to tone that down. Just doing Netflix and D+.  I really liked Agents of Shield and Agent Carter but didn't watch enough of some of the other shows to include (Runaways, etc).

To me the only real absolute clunker was Iron Fist.  If Luke Cage could have kept the first half villain for the whole first season (or both seasons) it could have rated a lot better.  Ali was great in that role.

And I see you already made a list  I broke mine out by season but yours is probably a better way to do it.  Jessica Jones would be the most interesting one to rank like that, as David Tennant is easily one of the best Marvel villains.  The 2nd and 3rd seasons didn't capture that same feel.
