Marvel Contest of Champions - Time Killer (1 Viewer)

Thinking of going for Willpower, have just under 1000 units now and one stony core. What do I need for it?

Also, I probably will need to pull points out of offense to do it (taking from fury masteries). Anyone remember what it will cost me to reactivate the one that gives the big crit damage bonus?
Do it. Fury bonus is meager compared to Willpower.

Bleed and poison nodes are no sweat with it.

Willpower costs 2 carbo cores ( 550 credits each ) to unlock, then 30 credits to put a point in ( no stony cores for this )

Each level needs to be unlocked, so another carbo core + 30 for level 2 & level 3. Max is 4 cores + 90 credits total 2290.

I think it's cruelty that gives the damage bonus ( precision gives the crit rate boost ). That is 5 levels that increase credits each time, but if you already unlocked with 5 stony core ( or 675 credits, I don't remember which one ), the credit cost for all 5 levels is relatively small ( < 100, I believe )

Let's see if he is active first. I will take someone who actively participates over someone who has a team of 4* and sits around with 10k points in AQ.
Lol, how do you even score that low? Thats like 2 battles.
No ####### clue, but it happens every AQ
Where do you check the scores? I don't even know.

I guess looking at that would make me sad.
When its up, you have the little shield looking icon in the lower right, which will show everyone's score and current health of their teams.

You can also go back and look at historical efforts by touching the alliance box under fight, then look for alliance quests View. Up top, there is a Completed, which will pull up the last challenge. Lower right corner is View Details, where you can see the entire team score ( in Order ) or go to each battle group details and see how each group.

Updated the spreadsheet, I know, I know, bragging but I didnt list alternates, just the top for each class. Have two 4* 3/30's in every class except Mystic and close on my Juggs & Iron Fist.

Decided to unlock Willpower, respec'd and shifted a lot of defense points from Block masteries to Salve & Recovery. Made the mistake of not having enough credits for Recovery, 6 Stony Cores to unlock? Crazy.

Now I'm sitting on four unspent points until I get a few more units to buy Cores and not enough points in Defense to unlock Willpower. Irony is, my PI still went up!

I have 9 unused points right now lol.

Yeah I sat on like 9 at one point then unlocked all the cruelty ones. I would have been much better served if I had focused on masteries earlier.

Willpower is nice in arena. In AQ it has its use but less impact. Damage by those poison opponents is much greater then can be recovered by WP. Also ultron has heal block, so no use there and gives Strange a disadvantage. This applies to map 4 and i think also for 5.

I'm still happy i got it, but more happy with max cruelty and precision. Decreases time per fight big time.

So I unlocked parry and got pretty good at it already. If anyone can recommend an app to record video I'll gladly make some to demonstrate a useful technique. I have an iPhone 6s.

So played a little ROL for fun, solo'd winter soldier and strange was just about at full health. Played Capt marvel and lost. I feel like I wasn't too focused knowing I wasn't making a serious attempt at this point. I do think it's in the near future though. Right now I have 16 L1 revives and 8 L2 revives, and hundreds and hundreds of health potions. I'd like more revives before trying for real, and need to come up with a good strategy for wolverine. Any tips for me? (Looking at you woot)

ETA: it's really not too difficult, just takes a LOT of patience and really can't afford to get sloppy. With strange you can afford to slip up once, but gotta be extra careful to make sure you get back to full health. 5 hit combos from those guys can end a fight fairly quickly, especially Capt marvel with fury. When I do try it for real, I'm only gonna play when I'm in a room by myself, my son jumping around on the couch and on me didn't help things much.

Watch woots video of his Wolverine match. Or just bring a Guillotine.

I'll rewatch the video. I only have a 2* guillotine and I'd have to play literally flawlessly to even maybe have a chance.

I dunno, that video I posted it didn't take more than a 50-hit combo to get that bleed stacked beyond belief. Beauty of it is that you can be super aggressive since stacking the regen is the goal.

So for Willpower are you guys getting it for the PI increase? (i.e. not recommended for primarily quest players with all the crit masteries?)

I am getting it to increase my survivability. It helps a lot in arena, and even in AQ. My favorite trick is to hit Cap when he is blocking to trigger Fatigue. It then heals me. I regained about 50% health on DD last AQ in one fight vs Cap

I'm at L2 Willpower and rarely play arenas anymore.

So far having willpower has made the Act 4 quests ridiculously easy. It's also been nice in AQ to be able to sometimes actual heal your heroes a bit depending on your opponent. Fighting Cap America is a good one since you can procure fatigue easily and heal.

TBH though I am a bit underwhelmed by Willpower. It absolutely kills me in arena and I don't notice the same benefit on my end. Debating whether to add L3 Willpower or jump over and add Cruelty and Precision. Sick of losing 50% health from time running out fighting Colossus. Need some more firepower.

I would do Cruelty and Precision first, yes. I maxed them before starting willpower.

Tips for Wolverine in RoL:

- strange, only use L3. 20-30 revives

- guillotine, done in 2 minutes

- star lord, get a 500+ combo and damage is more then regen

- electro, let him hit you cost him health. Hundreds of revives

When you have max cruelty and precision then arena fights are shorter. So less WP will be used in that time. It can help, depends on how fast you are but i think it regens me about 5% during a fight. Usually 12-25 hits in 1 fight before its over.

For me it isnt a life saver, but still good to have.

My advice is to go with cruelty and precision first. If you do willpower, then also max recovery for full potential

I had cruelty and precision maxed first, and just finally got willpower level 3. It helps in all venues except obviously opponents/matches with heal block. Like others have said, some guys like cap and antman are awesome to regen back to full health. I also noticed a pretty big difference between level 2 and level 3 as far as health regen. I haven't put any points into recovery yet but that's my next move when I have the units, and I know that'll boost regen even higher.

Some tips for RoL and AQ's:

- DONT RUSH, really. It aren't arena fights. Take your time. Rush = mistakes = punished in a few hits

- evade always unless you need to gain some breathing time, then use parry (especially with Wolverine). Blocking cost too much health.

- dont get cornered, harder to evade.

- you can evade (almost) all L1 & L2, use that

- only hit when there is an open spot, or when they are already blocking

- bring enough revives with you in RoL, if you dont have guillotine

- make advantage of synergies, i added +65% crit damage or so. Combined with cruelty and precision that adds up a lot

- only take champs you are comfortabele with. Playing bad with good champs = guaranteed fail (yes i have tried that)

Ultron tips:

- only let him use L1, easy to evade

- his regen stops when getting stun, also by parry

Thanks for the tips woot. May have to delay my attempt a little more now that strange is nerfed.

Fun little bonus for you guys:

After you do the update, and there's the little bomb at the top left, log out and log back in. You'll get 100 units and an energy refill.

Obviously make sure you remember your login info or you might run into some troubles with that.

Um, you guys know the best thing about willpower is double edge, right?
It's a beneficial thing to have with it, sure, but it's still great to have been without double edge.
Untill you run into opponents that give heal block, like Ultron does permanently in map 4. Then you're toast. i know some players who have removed LC and i think DE too.

I bet that there will be many more opponents with permanent heal block in Act 4.

In my opinion 30% more attack vs 30% less health is not worth it. WP makes up for that, if it activates.

You can get 60% more attack for 0% health loss if you do it right.

Heal block does F you though. We don't deal with it much at our level though.

This is the idea for the 3* arena. Not sure you have the guns to put out a 6000 PI team yet though.

I don't know how you guys get to endless. I end up fighting a group of 4/40's or 5/50's with the damn regeneration from negative effects and I'm toast.
The trick is to keep your champ level a bit lower until fight 14. Fights 7-8 with an even distribution under 4k will match you with 4800-5500 opponents, with typically easy AI.

Fights 9-13 use a 2 max 3* with one unranked 3*. This is one tricky area, where I've lost my bid for endless a few times. You have to win the 2 matchups, so look for at least one good class matchup. Also, be careful of the random game crash. You may want to reset the game before you start this stretch. These fights aren't too bad, but occasionally you hit a tough AI match.

Fights 14-15 use your best team. I have 2 over 6k, so that's what I use. I match up with about 10k teams, but these are Thanos / Kang teams without the best masteries, and typically without the tough AI. I usually find two or 3 class advantage matchup in these.

From 15 - 20, you'll start the easy matchups, but you have to keep your PL total high. The blueprint says over 6k until 20, but I played with that some during the cornucopia this week. I stated with my best teams, then on match 17 I dropped down to about 5700, then 5400 and finally 5100.

What I think happens is that there is a gap that grows / matchup in your streak between the team you put up and the opponent. Once you hit the max gap, you get a Thanos/Kang team ( before match 15 ) and an easy match ( with tougher AI ) after 15. As your streak grows, the max PL of the team you use can drop and still get the favorable matchup.

What I used to calculate the target totals was take the blueprint numbers ( 6k at 16, 4500 at 21 ), and linearly step down, so drop about 300 PL each match. It was only one time, but it gave me the easy matches from 16-20, as I hoped.

Full disclosure: I haven't hit endless this arena in two tries, Caught a stubborn L3 on match 15 in the first go, and slipped on an evade to storm's L2 in my second attempt at match 13. This isn't foolproof, and you have to be decent at the fighting aspect ( I'm *maybe* decent )

For the 2* arena, you follow a similar path. When you reach fight 8ish you can start sandbagging and sending your 2 top 2* and then an unleveled guy. Once you get to fight 15 you should start getting the Kang and Thanos teams, then you want to stay above like 1200 I think, once you get to 20 you could drop down to like 1000 maybe. Been a while since I had to really try for it in 2*.

Been wondering when they'd get around to Power Man.
He's been one of my faves for a long time. Especially since marvel ultimate alliance. Sometimes new characters are in game files for a long time, but I imagine the next new one will be Jessica Jones when the show comes out, followed by Cage since they're married and all.

Reminder: I leave for Disney World for a week tomorrow morning.

I'll try and hop on when I can, but I don't expect it to be often.
