Marvel Contest of Champions - Time Killer (1 Viewer)

Strange is definitely the choice here to upgrade to 4/40 since he is the only way you are taking down Wolverine. As for the last two I would debate between SW/Hawkeye and Thor/Hulk. I can see the merit in increased power gain as well as the crit damage increase.

 
I did it.

Now, its all about deciding who to upgrade to 4/40. Based on what people said online, looks like Dr. Strange is the choice, even though I don't have him duped. Thing is, I never really use him.

So, for the realm, looks like taking 4* Strange, 3* Strange, and 3* Scarlet Witch will get me block proficiency high enough that all blocks = 0 damage. (PS, this works for alliance quests too!)

So, about Strange... what else is best to bring.

I could do 4* Black Widow and 4* Hawkeye... adding 10% power gain. This might make it go faster waiting for Strange's meter to fill.

I could do 4* Thor and 4* Jugg, adding 17% armor and 5% attack.

I could do 4* Thor and 4* Hulk, adding 17% armor and 25% crit damage AND giving me a poison immune guy with a class advantage for the Scarlet Witch fight.

There are a few other combos, not sure what the last 2 I should go with are. Unfortunately I do not have the chick with the souls and sword for the Wolverine fight. I've heard Scarlet Witch can be a pain, so I'd like to get a poison immune champ in there. I have 4* 3/30 Hulk unduped, Ms. Marvel duped, and The Vision duped twice. Ms. Marvel is awesome to fight with, but her synergies with the others are kinda meh. Hulk gives that +25% crit which should come in handy. The Vision's are also kinda meh, although maybe I could work something out with him.

Thoughts?

You're basically gonna build your whole team around one guy (Strange). The only reason I've even fought with anyone else is because SW is also duped at 4/40. I think you're vastly underestimating the fight against scarlet witch. Every crit hit against her pretty much triggers some effect so it's good to have Strange's regen, and she's pretty fast to try to take down with hulk. She also has a nasty regen of her own, and if it triggers you MUST quit ASAP and restart the fight, ala wolverine. She gains somewhere around 9k per tic or so.

Have you tried fighting WS at all for practice? It's a good barometer to see where you are. You'll probably wanna be able to solo him and captain marvel before moving on. Also I highly highly highly recommend becoming a master of parrying, or you'll have some trouble and those guys can make very quick work of your guys.

Since stranger's level 3 is key, is the power generation synergy the best? Or should I look to increase his damage?

 
Tell me more about getting 0 Block damage. What combos can achieve it?

Do you need the blocking masteries too? I went for greater vitality (+9% health) since champs regen a % of health, but might recover and switch to block before adding any more points to Willpower.

I think the main key is gonna be minimizing block damage. I'd put damage increase second, and wouldn't worry about power generation. Tbh I don't know if that works on Strange. The fights are gonna be long regardless. I try to use stranges L2 and L3 while his fury node is up whenever I have a lot of health to maximize damage. Make sure you have as many revives and potions as you can stored up (until they cap it) and units. I haven't needed to use any units yet and still have a decent amount of revives/potions left, hopefully enough to get through wolverine. However I've also been practicing on WS for quite a while. These fights are unlike any you've seen before, and definitely take a lot of concentration and patience. I'm not kidding when I say one slip up usually means the fight is over.

 
You need the blocking proficiency mastery maxed and +35% block proficiency from synergies. That puts Strange at a point where all blocked hits are reduced to zero.

Strange, Magneto, and Black Bolt can all get you there. Either, 4* Strange, 3* Strange, and Scarlet Witch any* or Magneto, Black Bolt, and Cyclops (Magneto or BB need at least 1 4* and 1 3*).

All that aside, I tried the realm a bit and this is just not my fighting style. I don't really care if I do it or not. Strongly leaning towards skipping it and just ranking up Ms. Marvel instead. She'd be much more practical for me.

 
I went for the max damage masteries and synergies. Simple reasons:

- parry takes just a bit of health

- parry has advantages over blocking, i block to a minimum

- fights take much less time due to more damage

- strange recovers easly, any block damage is healed within no time

- damage masteries very usefull in arena too

I would suggest to go for 0 block damage if you're using a non-regen champ like SL. For Strange my advice is the above, but doesnt mean going for 0 block damage isnt good, but doesnt fit my fighting style

Just the original. Marvel Now doesn't have the Leadership synergy that grants block proficiency.

So if the themes and everything are changing, I'm thinking the AQ final boss will change. Any guesses who the new one will be?

 
Not sure if this is a bug or an official change, but Captain America is now poison immune. His character bio doesn't mention it, but in play, he is immune to Liquid Courage's poison.

 
This AQ stuff is ######ed. Fighting the mini-bosses is an insta-wipe for my team.

Clearly, I need to rework masteries or something. Or, you know, never, ever get hit.

 
Lots of bugginess on the character animations for me. Red Specials can be hilarious like when my Hulkbuster fought Hawkeye, Hulkbuster just floated around in the air bobbing up and down while Hawkeye looks all serious with his walkoff gaze. Rocket has a tendency to float as well on the victory screen.

Fights seems much faster, too fast almost, except when theres lag and it causes me to get hit.

Like the Knowhere background, got punched a few times not paying attention just watching the background.

 
Has anyone else noticed a discrepancy in their T3 cat rewards and what their inventory shows? I mentioned it in LINE yesterday that the rewards do not match up. We all got 1000 T3 shards I think, ran the easy side and got around 650 shards, ran the hard side and the rewards screen showed the T3 for completion, and then in the chest line it showed a full T3 and around 1100 shards. I had 10 before I made the runs, and now I have 12 and 200 shards. I should have 13 plus the shards. I did not screenshot it since I didn't think they would screw that up (I know my bad). I sent in a ticket and their response is along the lines of "We don't see anything wrong". So either the graphics are screwed up and the T3 from the chest was really not awarded or they can't do math.

I will screenshot my inventory before and after each run today to make sure. There is a thread in the forum with other people have this same issue.

What is your cap? If you exceeded it, you'd have a t3 in your stash.

Not to the cap yet. Checked the stash just to be sure, not there.

 
So you had 1000 shards going in, gained 1750, and got a full T3. You would net one T3 and now have 2750/2800 towards another T3. Sounds like you need another 250 shards to be at 12 full / 200 shards.

The amounts of the shards were guesses since I was not paying that close attention to it. The rewards screen showed 2 T3 cats, plus the various shards that I recieved should have equaled another. I am doing more runs now so I will track it to make sure. The fact that the bugs thread is full of stuff that is now wrong since the update (plus a thread about this very subject) leads me to believe I was Kabam'd.

 
I dislike the Catalyst shards personally. When I first heard about them it seemed like a good idea much like the 4* shards make obtaining 4* champs a lot easier. The problem with the catalyst shards is that they do almost nothing to address the difficulty of getting T4s for the average player (the amount needed for one T4 is similar to 5* shards) and they did not address the impossibility of obtaining Class T4s. I never really have had an issue with how catalysts are obtained. You get a guaranteed drop per day, with 3 possible just by running both sides. I would say I probably average 1.5-2 per day. I use them faster than I have the ability to sell them for shards anyways.

The item cap is total BS as everyone has already stated. It's not so much that people are hoarding items, it is more that they are not terribly useful outside of RoL. With the caps I don't even think you can heal a 4* champ because of how ######edly little health the recover. They need to be percentage based, not 350 health.

 
Did the drop rates of catalysts go down in exchange for the shards? Doesn't seem like it to me so far.

Today I got 1 full and 1721 shards. I am guessing yesterday I was at 1 full plus 1900ish if I disregard the extra full that showed up. My guess is we average right around 1.5-1.75 a day, we just won't have the days were you pull 3 since we can't have a day where you only pull 1 anymore.

 
Anyone else having random issues with....except erything?

First chat died. Then alliance tab died. Then my inventory went dark.

Tried restarting and now can't login.

I think you just became a designated hitter of Ultron (for a couple days anyway).
I'm starting to think ultron is just slightly harder than the regular champs across the map, and definitely easier than colossus. Obviously you still can't slip up, and he takes a while due to 90k health, but he's getting pretty easy. Pretty much been able to take him down myself with one or two champs.

People always make comments like that like it's just easy to do because of those two. Still takes a lot of patience and skill. I've done it with an unduped 3/30 ms marvel as well.

He is the undisputed best champ in the game.

Seriously though, are you using specials during life steal so that he'll never die?

 
I can't stand the way he throws combos. He's almost as terrible as Magneto.

I also want fights to be over quickly. He requires waiting around for the purple thingy so you can steal health back. Lame. I waste enough time on load screens, I don't want to waste more time in battles.

You don't have to wait for that. It's beneficial in hard quests and obviously ROL, but he can end fights pretty quickly when his fury thing is up.
