Matt Bryant, PK in the new top 250 (1 Viewer)

I can't help but see that my kicker Matt Bryant is missing from the new Top 250 forward. Just wondering if this was done intentionally or it was a mistake. I was just a bit confused because he's currently the 5th highest scoring kicker in my league but not ranked.

I would say it's a joke, just like the rest of the top 250. I have scratched my head so many times on it. For example, last week Boldin has 92 yds & 2 TDs and drops 2 spots .... but this week, he has 13 catches for 186 yds and moves up 9 spots. It isn't like he hasn't been rock solid all season long (except for missing 2 games due to injury).

I take the Top 250 Forward with a grain of salt. It is clearly a part of the subscriber information that gets neglected IMO. It comes out on Monday nights and never gets tweaked during the week. I would suggest they spend another day or two and also release a tweaked version on Wed once they have considered some feedback or updated info on certain players.

I've been wondering this for the past several weeks as Bryant has been left out lots more than just this week...he also did not get upgraded after this week's performance and he ALSO is tied for the league lead in field goals. He is listed as the top kicker to have for the rest of the year in the Kickermania article, however. Why he gets no love from Dodds is a mystery.

It's no mystery to me. Given Dodds' capability for very solid contributions, I can only chalk it up to a lack of time spent on this weekly project. You can't tell me he did a very thorough analysis and made these "mistakes."

Bryant has been missing for weeks off of that list. If your theory is correct and he's not on there because of lack of time spent on this project, then perhaps they should just eliminate it altogether. I agree with the other poster that the Top 250 has seemed like a joke this year at times. Then again, maybe I'm the joker because I keep going back to look at it!!

My recollection is that it did used to come out later in the week, but a lot of people asked for it earlier b/c many leagues open up waivers on Tuesday. I'm sure it's a pain in the ### to try to quick get it done between Sunday evening and Monday night. My guess is that Bryant is an oversight.Take it for what it is: one person's opinion based on the projections he uses. If he's got a guy a lot higher or lower than I do, I always just try to figure out the rationale and decide if I agree or disagree. One thing I've definitely noticed is that the Top 250 does not equal perceived value on breakout players. It's way more conservative than the thinking of most people in my leagues. For instance, it took DeSean Jackson some time to crack the top 40 WRs. Right or wrong, if you're using the 250 to gauge a trade, guys like that will be way undervalued compared to what you could have gotten for them in week 2.

With the deadline on getting out the top 250 each week, my guess is focus is more on position players and not kickers and defense as much. I think overall a very good job is don eon the top 250. Is it perfect? No. But I think it is a GREAT tool and very helpful. If you see players you don't agree with the ranking then adjust accordingly....

For in depth and I find very useful analysis on kickers, I would recommend Mike Herman's Kickermania article.

For defenses, scoring is so variable from league to league. It is often a great idea to look a week or two ahead good match-ups. There are the Strength of Schedule spreadsheets that Clayton Gray does which are quite useful.

Shameless bump for a kicking discussion, I know, but....

Can't help but notice a guy like Akers' rank in the Top 250 forward this week. Would think that the consistency of a guy like Bryant, playing for a warm weather team means more than someone playing for a team whose stud RB is dinged and not producing, and who has flux at QB, with the offence seemingly sputtering.

I own neither kicker -- honest. Both are owned in all leagues I'm in. But one league, where we've made kickers matters in terms of points scored, distance, misses, etc. -- the theory behind these two guys brings up interesting philosophical points regarding the different situations these guys face.

Wanted to hear some more opinions from those guys that are supporting Bryant due to his accuracy, schedule, team, opportunity, etc., in relation to a guy like Akers, who seems to have the favor of Dodds & Crew.
