I thought it was kind of weird, kind of dumb, and a little funny.
Had it been some player I already didn't like, though, I would have reacted about like the OP did.

Harmless. It wasn't the most sportsmanlike thing of all time, but compared to the stuff we see every week in the NFL, it was completely harmless.

McNabb knows that was a bush league move, he said as much after the game. Do I wish he hadn't done that? Yeah. But at the end of the day it was that same passion and hatred for the Giants that led to the win, so I'll take it.

it looked simply whimsical. dude was in the zone and on top of the world. that sort of endorphin high will make you do stupid things like that. it was kinda dumb, and he was penalized. definitely not bad sportmanship or anything like that. i'm sure it's the least of the Giants' concerns right now.

No doubt it was a stupid move, McNabb admitted as much after the game and regretted doing it. Any time you get your team a 15 yard penalty, you are putting yourself ahead of your team.
I figure it was a spur of the moment thing (i.e. not premeditated in the least), and it's certainly easy to understand McNabb's elation at winning the game after the stuff he's put up with this year - and it's not like he's known for doing that kind of stuff.
So I'm not defending it in the least... just saying that I mostly give him a pass on this one, and generally I can't stand show-off, look at me type players and actions.

He has heart. It's the same reason he led the Eagles to the position they're in (with help from the DEF), and the same reason he picked up the phone. Same reason he always has a smile on his face, dances on the sidelines and enjoys the game, almost no matter what is going on in the game.Some guys show it with seriousness, some show it with more fun. How can you fault McNabb for loving the game, having fun with it, and when the game is really going his way, showing it off loud/proud.

It just seemed like a really stupid thing.
And McNabb's reaction after the game was pretty ridiculous, "As a veteran, I was just trying to have a little fun." So it is ok as a veteran to do something that stupid but not as a rookie? I dont get it.

Same here. I've read the whole thread but I still don't understand what happened. How did he pick up a phone on the Giants sideline?

McNabb got run OB on the Giant's sideline. While there he coincidentally slowed down by the Giants phone. He then picked the phone up for about a second and set it back down. Was flagged for 15 yds for unsportsmanlike conduct.
