George Plimpton was the editor of the Paris Review for a while, and just a really good writer. That we used to take literature seriously accounts for his appearing in movies and on television, but he was not a dumbing down of anything. RIP.

& the movie starring Alan Alda

there was a follow up book, too - Mad Ducks & Bears

Plimpton was a treasure
I haven't see the movie yet nor read the second book. Hadn't heard of the second book, even. Paper Lion was recommended to me by a trusted friend as probably the greatest sports book this side of Cobb, which I could not get into, even though it was New Journalism, a style and era I love.

Plimpton was a treasure, though.

Damn...I know this is a bad game, but book reports and American Lit class here?

Hey, I have Marcus Davenport going in an IDP league that doesn't care about my score anymore.

Notice I said nothing about the book. The only thing I remember about the book is Plimpton's fondness for Alex Karras. I read it in my twenties. Anything I read in my twenties I read drunk. I can't remember specifics about anything.

So no report, sadly. :(

If the Dolphins win tonight, they'll become the first team in NFL history to have at least a 7-game losing streak and 7-game winning streak in the same season.

A win would also propel them to 7th in the AFC's standings and into the third Wild Card spot.

The game is at the Caesars dome, let's see more of the Halley Berry Caesars Cleopatra commercials please.

I can't imagine Bortles could be this bad. I know he's bad but he's been in the NFL for a number of years.

What did he do?

Kamara what the hell was that? Right in front of the ref.

Took em a good 30-count to throw the flag.

Dolphins D is playing chippy ... probably applying some mustard to Kamara  in the piles.

Getting a sick feeling Tua can not outscore Gesicki by 5 points the rest of the way. Benching Wentz for Tua may kill my trip to the ship.

Everything looks so hard for the Saints tonight. They exert so much effort to just get a first down.
