Middle Aged Dummies - Artist - Round 5 - #1's have been posted. Link in OP. (7 Viewers)

don't pre-declare.

Who would do that?
I get why people do, it's a lot of work. It just doesn't seem to fit me and my mood swings sometimes.
Sorry, was joking because I had at least 3 artists I either selected or was going to for the next round. And I changed in previous rounds.
Got it. I don't remember people changing, but I don't remember much these days.

What started as "music and Mariners" as I watched games over the last couple months at night turned into "metal and Mariners" pretty quickly. That and my general mood had me leaning more to that genre than I have been in the last few years, so Aimee Mann research hasn't been done for a bit. I am sure something will hit me before this starts, but there are also a couple metal acts in the mix and I hesitate to through more in the mix from that genre.
The next round announcement is about two weeks away and then we usually have a month to submit our lists - so you’d have time even if you started all over now with a new band.

Couple updates on previous MAD31 artists:

Unfortunately, RIP Brent Hinds. Earlier in the year he parted ways with Mastodon, and a couple months later (late Aug) died on his motorcycle. One of my favorite things about those boys is they had been one of the few groups that seemed to click and had stayed with the core members for years and years. Not sure where they are heading in the future (internet seems to think they should poach Gina from Baroness), but he was a great guitarist. The Hunter is always one that pops in my head that is a Brent song. That was the song he wrote for his brother who passed, and the emotion comes through in the guitar.

I was probably a year early for Lord Huron. The newest album is on par with Lonesome Dreams and Strange Trails for me, and the playlist would have looked a little different if I had that album in the mix as well. Not that I listen to a ton of new releases, but for me it's AOY. True to form, a couple of my current favorites are two with the least listens on spotify..

Lastly, the Mrs and I are hitting up @landrys hat 's R4 artist My Morning Jacket in Madison next week. My plan was to do my own reasearch and make a playlist like I did for Thin Lizzy, but got metal obsessed so I am going to rock his playlist and the new album this weel.
