Millen: Lions have my back

He heard the "Fire Millen!" chants during Sunday's 48-25 loss to Green Bay. He knows fans are already jumping off the bandwagon because of the Lions' 0-2 start. That's their choice," Matt Millen said Thursday. Millen nodded toward the coaches and players on the practice field. "It's not their choice," Millen said. "They're not jumping." Though he said owner William Clay Ford has high expectations and is frustrated -- and though he took full responsibility for the state of the team -- Millen indicated no changes are imminent. Millen said he believes in Rod Marinelli more than ever before because Marinelli has remained consistent amid adversity. He said he still believes in the coaching staff and players -- and that if the Lions just do what they've been doing, they will win this year.

technically going 0-16 would be "consistent amid adversity" too

A Lions bandwagon. That's rich! The Lions "bandwagon" is Matt Millen being pulled by William Ford down the sidewalk in a Radio Flyer.

Both Ford, the owner, and Millen, the whatever...have got to go. Marinelli can go too! :bs:

My observations...pathetic, terrible, horrendous, egotistical, comical...and a crying shame.

Whatever, the great Henry Ford will be forever remembered...after him?

Sell the team and rename the field.

Barry Sanders could still play.

A look inside Matt Millen's conscience...

<a phone rings>

<Matt Millen answers, pausing his game of Madden and wearing a Barry Sanders jersey that is several sizes too small>

Millen: Hello?

Distraught fan: WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!?!?

Millen: Oh, hello! Who's this?

Distraught fan: Is this Matt Millen? Because if it is then I hate you!

Millen: Thanks, the team appreciates your support! We're always happy to hear from the fans!

Distraught fan: You are the worst general manager in the history of general managers... did you know that?

Millen: Thanks, I think my draft selections will pan out quite well too! I mean, when haven't they? <He chuckles>

Distraught fan: What the -- what kind of reality do you live in? And what kind of drugs do I need to take to get there?

Millen: Well, thanks for the call, it's good to hear from the die hard Lions supporters! Goooooooooooooooo Lions!

The conclusion? This guy HAS to have some kind of filter in his brain to block out the fact that 100% of people agree that he should step down as well as well as their opinion of his legendarily horrible GM reign.

Matt obviously did not major in math. At this rate they will be 0-16.

Listening to Millen's BS is eerily similar to hearing King George Bush say we are going to "stay the course" for years. Did they both drop out of the same high school? :)

One Said Good Job Brownie after KatrinaOne Said Good Job Marinelli after the Atlanta game....

I think the Dolphins' eventual rise back to the playoffs will piss off Lions fans like no other. It'll be the latest reminder that a team can greatly improve in a span of 2-3 years. Apparently the Lions front office didn't get the memo.

As a Wisconsin native I am scared of what Millen has been able to do with the Lions. The dividends are not paying off yet but his decision making is top notch and the Lions are making themselves competitive for years to come. I would not be surprised if the Lions were in the Superbowl in the next 5 years... maybe twice. The man named Millen has done a terrific job creating a future winner. Detroit should be proud.

Oh they got the memo, Millen junked it thinking it was spam.

It gets better....

Here's the article if you need a laugh.

I hate Matt Millen....and I'm now into my 40's and the Lions are no better off than when I turned 20...or 30. It's a GD shame.

I would never confuse whatever a memo is with a delicious piece of meatsigned,Matt Millen

It's hard to relate fully, when you're not a Lions fan, but that organization really is a sad situation. I happened to move to MI a few years ago, and while it's great being a fan of an out-of-town team in MI, I kind of feel for the locals. I've heard of lots of fans giving up hope, not caring to even watch games, etc.

I really think it's the fans that need to do something about the situation. It has been proven that time will not change things. I would love to see a boycot of a game. Parhaps a nearly empty stadium on Thanksgiving would send a message to the NFL.

It's because of statements like this that companies have random drug testing policies.

This is the same organization that kept Wayne Fontes around for 9 years... every other year when the Lions had a easy schedule they would produce. An they only won most of those games because of Barry Sanders.

Millen isn't going anywhere... Maranelli is the fall guy this season. Millen will once again Hire the wrong coach... screw up the draft and the process will continue on..

This guy is the antichrist. Problem is I'll be rooting them on again tomorrow and next weekend and the weekend after that forever. I will also swear them off tomorrow and vow to find a new team. Same story for my 38 years in existence. Sad, really sad. At least I have the Wolverines. :goodposting:

This guy is worse than Isiah and if his had any history of being a good team he would have been fired right now. Suprised the media hasn't thrown him under the bus like they do with everyone else in professional sports. The media loves a losser.

I hate this arrogant ###.Of course the Lions look great in practice-they are playing themselves! Marinelli is supposed to be a defensive line guru but we've had the worst D in football since he's been here mostly due to lack of pressure on opposing QB's.

I think a chimp with a dartboard could draft as well as Millen.Of his 20 1st and 2nd round picks,5 are starters,5 are backups and I think the other 10 are out of the league.
