MixTape Draft - 6+ word titles. Finish your draft and listen to mixes! (4 Viewers)

I never listened to Hawkwind.

for some reason, I had it in my mind it was some kind of new age super-group and just avoided. not sure it's my wheelhouse, but need to expand my horizons a bit here.

@Northern Voice the Everly Bros tune on your playlist isn't available in the US, but if you can get the one on "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us" that should work

Spotify, a toolish tool as always

Otherwise,  thanks

3.xx Magazine - The Light Pours Out of Me

A great song from one of Manchester's finest post-punk bands.  I don't recall ever drafting it before although we've done a lot of drafts.   I'm either righting a longstanding injustice or plowing the same field again.

I'm still out to lunch on mix ideas but this is the kind of track that can be used as a transition...I guess.
I was only intermittently interested in Magazine- mostly because Devoto's voice had to find me in just the right mood.

But I like that song a lot- not familiar with it. also love the pink sweater v-neck and fro look of the guitarist. might try to be "that" guy from now on.... but will have to get a perm first.

Well, ####, aren't I the #######.

I am a cat guy - I think what you are doing is great and I hope the best for Mr. Jerry (love the names, btw).  I assume you have a farm/big barn that these guys are running around?  What's the diff b/t the normal trap and a drop trap to get him loaded up?
A normal trap he has to enter, and then near the back he steps on a lever that makes the back of the trap close. A drop trap is a trap that is like a big basket that sits partially off the ground, he goes under it and eats, and I pull a string that is attached to the arm holding up the trap, and he gets trapped. I then open a part of the basket and attach a trap to it, and he will run in it thinking it's an escape route. I could try to shove him into a carrier, but he would probably rip me apart. I just don't know what I'm going to do. As for their lodging, many of them live in garages in the back of a welding place. They were all born behind this welding place. The owner's grandson got a divorce, and put his unfixed female cat out in the lot, and then many cats were born. The two owners are twins in their 70s, and want to retire soon, and they want to sell their place since the kids of one owner that work there don't seem to care about carrying on with the business. I worry about where the cats will go. Behind their place is 17 acres of land for sale. It's where a lumber yard once was. A few of the cats hang out in the office building that is still on the property. It has been vandalized, and I put up keep out signs. I also built them a fort with wheat straw inside, three tote (with styrofoam insulation) cat houses with wheat straw, and three 50 gallon cat houses with wheat straw, and they are in some bushes and evergreen trees beside a fence that separate the lumber yard and storage units. They hang out a lot in the storage unit lot. One of the owners of the welding place, gave me a shack that is rotting in some places to put the cats food in when it rains. It is sitting actually on the storage unit property, but behind their fence beside the gravel road that is a dead end. I painted the shack a couple weekends ago to try to make it the color of the storage units.  Here is a pic of the cat shack where I put their food when it rains. I sawed out an escape door inside. The cat in that pic is Jerry. It is very sketchy in this area. The abc store is a couple buildings over, and I'm always finding liquor bottles around. I've also found near the fort a pair of ripped man's pants, a hypodermic needle with something in it, pizza boxes, shoes, booze, etc.

Think I took that, GB. Just checked the sheet. Linked YouTube, but I'm only on free Spotify, so not sure what to do.

Today my biggest care is about a cat named Jerry. He is a feral cat I take care of. Back in 2014, an organization and I got together and trapped over 30 feral colony cats. The place that fixed them would only do so if I agreed to take care of them, and of course pay to have it done. Being the soft hearted fool that I am, I agreed to it. I raised a big part of the money for their fixings from this very site. I've kept my end of the bargain, but it can be tough. There are still about 26 cats still alive. Most recently, I lost one, Clio, last week from getting hit by a car. I lost two in October. One (Low-Rider) we think licked up anti-freeze and died of poisoning, and the other (Tiger Lily/Loretta) just vanished. Something bad happened to her. She was Jerry's girl. Anyway, Jerry has a UTI. I noticed last night he kept trying to pee again and again. He, and two others, will let me pet them, but only on their terms. I can't pick him up. A vet that used to work for the SPCA, and who fixed some of the colony prior to the mass trappings, gave me some antibiotics to give him, but if he is plugged, he has to be helped by a vet or he will die. I can't tell if he is plugged. He will only pee at least 15 feet from me, and it rained last night, and it started raining this afternoon when I went to find him at lunch. Luckily he showed up this afternoon when I called him, and I was able to crush an antibiotic in some tuna, and he ate it. He wouldn't take a pill pocket. Tonight all the cats will be out, and it will be harder to separate him, and I hope he will eat the tuna again with the antibiotic. It is supposed to snow tomorrow night. If he is plugged, I can't catch him in a regular trap, because he is too smart for that. I can catch him in a drop trap, and I don't know if the vet who gave me the antibiotic has hers with her. I don't know what I'm going to do, but it is frustrating and sucks. Jerry is my bud. Oh, I also spilt tuna juice all over my pants when I was out there at the colony, and I now smell like a can of Starkist.  :(

amazing that you did/doing this. I vaguely remember you mentioning it originally and hope to hell I donated to this amazing cause. if not- I'd love to help out now, if you're still equipped to accept donations.

our last two cats were East Village/ Lower East Side (NYC) alley-cats that we rescued ourselves. if we ever won the lotto, wife has said she wants to create a mobile vet to handle the feral colonies that pop up every now and then (usually just one cat and their litter) in the hood along with all of the bodega and store cats that live indoors, in basements, and outside of some obviously loved ones are usually scrawny and weak looking.

Really re-confirms how awesome Lemmy was, going all the way from this to Motörhead.
Former Hawkwind weirdo Nik Turner is still touring at age 76.  I saw him in late 2015 and had a good time even though I didn't know his material, Mrs. Eephus stayed home sick and my neighbor the drunk was tripping on acid and disappeared about three songs into Turner's set.

Oh, if it helps, the Everlys should be on the standard Rhino release of their Greatest Hits. That's how I found it. I just remembered the album, because it was a memorable song for me (obviously).

Just in case.

did hawkwind ever turn new-agey? I'm trying to figure out where I got that from...

Here are the songs that are missing links...If you update the earlier post, can you re-post it with the link, so we don't have to dig for it. Thanks!

You didn't donate  , but you may have been laid off at the time. I know you are an animal lover, and I don't hold a grudge against anyone who didn't donate. I don't even know who saw the thread. Thanks for offering to donate now, but you keep that money for the alley cats on your side of the tracks.   I like your wife's idea of the mobile vet for the ferals.

A day late, but thirty years + one day later this is still a great listen.  And the song title sums up my current feelings about theme, mix, strategy, and direction for this draft.  "Where The Streets..." had the much better video and I would have taken that in the #2 hole if it was still on the draft board.  But this is a very good consolation prize here at #3.  Looking forward to the tour stop with the full album later this year.

And I may even try to mine some non-Nickelback songs that don't make these drafts too often.

Or maybe not.  But for right now, I'll follow the chalk line.  Kinda sort of.

Is this the same OZ with all them boys?  Don't they watch You Tube day and night like every other kid in the USA?

No idea.  They've been around in various forms for almost a half century so anything is possible.  I think there are two different outfits currently touring under the Hawkwind banner.  Both Turner and Dave Brock were original members in 1969.  Brock probably has more right to the name since he was a singer and guitarist while Turner played woodwinds and was a general oddball.  But according to Wikipedia, Turner was the source of the band's name

Hawkwind being the nickname of Turner derived from his unappealing habit of clearing his throat (hawking) and excessive flatulence (wind)

I'm watching Glastonbury 2005 which has been on my DVR since 9/1/09!  What happened to the Paladia channel anyway?

Missed this exchange last night...

Upside:  Having a TiVo + TiVoToGo/KMTTG makes archiving these nice and easy.

Downside:  Eats up a lot of hard drive space and I've lost count of the externals at this point.

What did you call me? :boxing:

That's me.  And yeah, pretty much but they at least use the WiFi.  Except one month when I had to disable my 14yo's access.
Are you still in cover two?  I miss the trades we used to do in that war room chat.
