This is from my favourite album of theirs by quite a lot but last year's Away was pretty good as well.10th Round - Okkervil River - "Our Life is Not a Movie or Maybe"
I've never really been able to get super into their music for the most part, but I ####### love this song....and what better opportunity to draft it than a 6+ word mixtape draft.
I actually liked The Silver Gymnasium (had to look it up, I didn't remember the title) from 2013, but it didn't stick with me in the long-term. I will have to check out Away. This is from my favourite album of theirs by quite a lot but last year's Away was pretty good as well.
Brian Eno is someone I'd like to get into more. I really like this song but at some point he veers into instrumental/ambient stuff that I don't think would really be my thing. I need an old school 5/10 song Hoofmix (or maybe I can just stick to the first three albums or the "This is:" playlist on Spotify).10.xx Brian Eno - Burning Airlines Give You So Much More
This youtube link blew my mind for a second with the Stay Positive album cover but it their mistake not mine. This isn't one of my favourite songs on Boys and Girls in America in terms of the album itself to be honest... but it's always one of the biggest highlights live. This song completely slipped my mind until last night. It fits right in...

I get that his ambient stuff was influential but for me, it's so innocuous that I forget what I'm listening to which I guess was the artist's point.Brian Eno is someone I'd like to get into more. Really? Again?Traffic- low spark of the high heeled boys. Would be an early rounder in a songs over 10 minutes draft.

It's all about the album "Here Come the Warm Jets" for me ...and early Roxy Music.I get that his ambient stuff was influential but for me, it's so innocuous that I forget what I'm listening to which I guess was the artist's point.Brian Eno is someone I'd like to get into more. Besides his early stuff, his collaborations with David Byrne are worth a listen (but not on Spotify AFAIK). His production credits are top shelf of course. The Bowie and U2 stuff obviously but I really like the two albums he produced for James in the early 90s. Laid has the songs but the follow-up album Wah-Wah is a grab bag of more experimental music recorded during the same sessions. Neither album is great but they make an interesting couple.
Early Roxy Music is so good. Also mid-period Roxy Music. And also 80s poppy Roxy Music. It's all about the album "Here Come the Warm Jets" for me ...and early Roxy Music.
Here Come the Warm Jets album includes lots of Robert Fripp guitaring stuff.Early Roxy Music is so good. Also mid-period Roxy Music. And also 80s poppy Roxy Music.
Scratches off short list...
I'm a huge fan of OR and pretty much love all their albums.I actually liked The Silver Gymnasium (had to look it up, I didn't remember the title) from 2013, but it didn't stick with me in the long-term. I will have to check out Away.
dammit. same boat for me, love that song but am ambivalent about the band.10th Round - Okkervil River - "Our Life is Not a Movie or Maybe"

oh, damn! KRS1 run!10.03 - KRS One, Step Into a World (Rapture's Delight)
This was one of the songs I would have paired up (with Rapture) in the juke box draft if I decided to link up my pairs of picks. I don't think I've ever picked this in any draft so far.
My eight year old daughtersings this all the time. Not sure how she even knows it.Quick post since it looks like we blew past my spot already this AM...
10.xx - Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)

I used to hear this song a lot but I had no idea it had a long title.
Eno has made everyone he's worked with sound better, even Coldplay.I get that his ambient stuff was influential but for me, it's so innocuous that I forget what I'm listening to which I guess was the artist's point.

I thought KP said Round 11 would start after noon Eastern. We're doing rd 11 now? I have to disappear for a couple hours. Are there more rounds today?
He really worked his production magic with these guys. Everything he's done since 1974 has been the downside of his career.Eno has made everyone he's worked with sound better, even Coldplay.
