MixTape Draft - 6+ word titles. Finish your draft and listen to mixes! (2 Viewers)

A whole draft?  I don't think so.  I do remember a draft where Zilla did that for his theme and there might have been others who have done that as well.
since this is my 1st draft I didn't think about my songs having a flow or theme other than  "stuff i like that fits". Maybe next time around.

Left to pick for Round 13...

Mrs. Rannous
Steve Tasker
The Dreaded Marco
Binky the Doormat
Eephus
Northern Voice
Raging Weasel

13.17 - Morrissey - You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side

Morrissey has written many songs with long titles so choosing one from his Smiths and solo catalog was tough.  I'm going with the leadoff track from the Your Arsenal LP, which I think is as good an album as he's ever been associated with.

This is Mozza rocking at his hardest.  It isn't exactly Pantera but the dual guitars of Boz Boorer and Alain Whyte provide backing that combines elements of rockabilly, glam and punk.

This was on my A list for a while then made its way down to my B list, still another option scratched off

And here I am.. try not to look so pleased

I thought about a theme of drafting all 20 songs from the Morrissey/Smiths catalog. At a quick glance there were at least 15 so that I would've been happy with. I am sure I could've listed 20. I am still debating double dipping.

You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To - The Four Vagabonds and Patti Clayton

Dont want to cut in line but I'm pretty sure this is far off the radar for most. Many bigger names have done this song but I like this one the best. Read the lyrics:

You'd be so nice to come home toYou'd be so nice by the fireWhile the breeze on high sang a lullabyYou'd be all that I could desire

Reads cute and sweet, but when you hear Patti sing it, you know instantly that he will never come home to her.

I will re-pick. My bad.

flying by the seat of my pants here - no research or forethought (and apparently not much fact checking either ;)  )
I was vibing and imbibing the other day and added a bunch of songs to my Spotify list that only had 4 or 5 words. Was counting syllables like it was hooked on phonics.

Kinda flying by the seat of my pants now, and just adding stuff I come across while doing research hoping I cobble together something resembling a mix that has flow to it:

14.xx:  MUDDY WATERS - YOU CAN'T LOSE WHAT YOU AIN'T NEVER HAD

LINK

This was originally going to be my theme when I drafted my first song, but then I had a lot going on and decided not to do a theme.
Yeah thought about doing a draft of just covers of songs other people already drafted and made it a "my playlist is better than yours". The fact it would have been against the rules would have made it even better

RD 14:  Trust Me To Open My Mouth - Squeeze

These guys songs hold up ...like really hold up.  Perfect pop.  Doesn't hurt that Difford & Tillbrook write very Beatlesque stuff and Tillbrook can sing the #### out of anything.  Also didn't hurt that the golden-throated Paul Carrack sang "Tempted" either.

song link.

Like it?  Give their Singles 45s & Under album a try.
