I usually just end up following the playlist. I am sure there is an easier way that I am not smart enough to know as well. What's the best way to get the playlists to open on my Spotify app on the computer rather than in web browser?
I was going to try and figured if there were no Beach Boys, it was okay. Also - did we really just complete a draft without any Radiohead being drafted??
Thanks for the listen. I could see the song feeling weirder on mix. Glad you liked some stuff.karma police- your mix was a little jarring on shuffle play(only option on free mobile version) ..dug the bluesy/classic rock parts of your mix and even enjoyed the thing that only eats hippies. Never really got into punk-guess i'm not angry or drunk enough.
best track I never heard before was the arctic monkeys-may explore these guys some more.
Dammit snooms I just shoved an icepick into my ear twenty minutes ago to get rid of thisHeh... I figured Grease songs weren't high on anyone's draft list. This would've been my mix if I could guarantee no snipes and the "Want" theme. I *think* only 3-4 were sniped... but that would've been enough to force me to start taking multiple Ramones songs or some random kid/Xmas songs.
The Bangles - If She Knew What She Wants
The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand
Berry Gordy Jr - Money (That's What I Want)
Blondie - I Want To Drag You Around
Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me
Culture Club - Do You Really Want To Hurt Me
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Don Henley - All She Wants to Do Is Dance
Olivia Newton-John - You're The One That I Want
Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World
Minutemen - Do You Want New Wave Or Do You Want The Truth?
Ozzy Osbourne - I Don't Want To Change The World
Righteous Brothers - I Just Want To Make Love To You
Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get What You Want
Skankin' Pickle - Ice Cube, Korea Wants A Word With You
Smiths - Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want
Tumbleweed Wanderers - Don't You Want To Get Higher?
Screeching Weasel - I Wanna Be With You Tonight
Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)
Pet Shop Boys - What Did I Do To Deserve This
The Bonzai mix had "I Just Wasn't Made for this World".I was going to try and figured if there were no Beach Boys, it was okay.
I will definitely be checking this out.If you liked that Arctic Monkeys song, you might want to start with the album it's from - AM. I like a lot of their stuff, but most of that album has a similar feel to it.
Thanks for the listen and glad you liked it. Good to hear the flow worked as well, as that it what I said I had to work on.@KarmaPolice
Overcompensating
Considering the theme here is known (6+, under 3 minutes) I can't really say anything you don't already know. People have said much better things about short, quick songs than I ever could, so it would seem hubristic to even try. So I'll simply say that I love the conciseness, sequencing, pacing, and pretty much everything about this mix. It screams Friday night more than Wednesday morning to me. I can picture myself sitting around with friends with this on in the background, drinking and playing quarters or something when Sleater-Kinney's "I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone" comes on with the "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" chorus coming in while my friends and I sit at attention for a second or two. I knew a lot of these so I'm able to actually think about order on this one, and it's pretty darn good also. It's a singles mix, it would seem, and most of them work really well.
I love the Buzzcocks, Black Flag, Talking Heads, Circle Jerks, The Kinks (All Day and All Of The Night has seen many a mixtape I've personally made) and stuff like that already so the personal finds here are:
5 - Neil Young - What Did You Do To My Life?
I generally don't like Neil Young, so this was cool, for lack of a better word
4 - CCR - It Came Out Of The Sky
Kind of a rollicking good tune, eh? I like CCR, had never heard this one.
3) Muddy Waters - You Can't Lose What You Never Had
Dig it. I don't really like trad. blues, but this was cool
2) Sonic Youth - In The Mind Of The Bourgeois Reader
I like Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star but I hadn't really listened to this one because by the time I get there, I'm stuck on Bull in The Heather repeatedly. This was cool to hear in a sort of isolated setting
1) Sleater - Kinney - I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone
This is a band I never gave a chance. I don't know; you'd think a band that cribbed the cover of the Kink Kontroversy would appeal to me, but somehow they never did. This song simply rocks. Ramones-y with screaming vocals in the chorus? It doesn't get much better.
Cool job, KP. Loved it. Right up my alley.
I took that soundtrack when we had our 1970-1979 album draft for 1978Heh... I figured Grease songs weren't high on anyone's draft list.
Whoops. The Bonzai mix had "I Just Wasn't Made for this World".
My playlist got some action today. I am guessing people are mostly going in post order on the OP? Thanks for the listen.I'm working from home today so trying to get through a bunch playing on my phone as I "work" on my laptop.
@KarmaPolice was next.
A good mix of punk(ish) and classic rock - I was familiar with about 80-85% of the music. Good to hear some Hank, even though I'm actually more of a Rollins Band fan than Black Flag.
Bands that I never made an effort to listen to that I now think I really should: Buzzcocks, Sleater-Kinney, The Hold Steady and Artic Monkeys (especially the last two). Great stuff on this mix by those bands,
I started at the bottom of the list in the OP. Made it through Binky's list on the AM commute. Write-up coming tonight.I put the names in a list randomizer to mix it up a bit as far as what mixes are getting action.![]()
I'm just picking randomly. Have @dal_boys_phan on now.My playlist got some action today. I am guessing people are mostly going in post order on the OP? Thanks for the listen.
Copy and paste the link into the search box on the desktop app - that list will pop up. Follow to put in playlists bucket. That was how it worked for my on Windows 10.What's the best way to get the playlists to open on my Spotify app on the computer rather than in web browser?
This was a band I never listened to much until we started doing these things, now they are one of my faves. I would directly tie these drafts into my love for Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Thin Lizzy that I have now. There are a lot of others as well, but these 3 I have listened to more than just about any band over the last several years.Eeph mix was real good.. steady eddie.. I liked the Ballboy song about ****, it reminds of the time I went to ****'s and got some balls
For real though out of the handful of acts I wasn't too familiar with I'm most interested in checking out more of their stuff.
I need to listen to more Thin Lizzy now that I'm older and wiser. That MSP song is nice too
I still don't need to listen to anymore Bangles
They never caught on with me much in my younger years, for whatever reason, but anytime I hear them lately I am usually digging itThis was a band I never listened to much until we started doing these things, now they are one of my faves. Had Police song on my short list. Here is my working mix with quite a few songs no one took:Songs I was surprised weren't picked
Sly - Thank you falettin
Police - Every Little Thing
Cracker - Teen Angst
Nirvana - Frances Farmer
still a few stragglers out there
Right now he's hanging out with Low Rider in one arm and Clyde in the other.I'm sorry for your loss, Waingro. GB Baby Bean Cake![]()
everything else just made me want to rip my ears off.
Got a couple more in today-1st up the dreadedmarco mix. hate to say it but there wasn't much here for me to like. the bowie, floyd and pavement tracks are the only ones I'll ever hear again on purpose. nick cave, lcd soundsystem and super furry animals were the best of the rest. everything else just made me want to rip my ears off.
The Lone Bellow record is really good. That's not their best song but one that fits the parameters. They are very country-ish (although I'm pretty sure they are from Brooklyn), but I dig them.I'm finishing Dr. Octopus now and it's really good. On a side note why can't I use the back button after I already heard a tune?
Doc Oc had a very nice flow to his mix. He also had many under the radar tunes I enjoyed but hadn't heard in a while.
Dr. Octopus songs I loved....
I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better by the Byrds was great. I had not heard that in a LONG time.
I'm Gonna Make You Love Me - The Jayhawks I was really feeling this.
You Don't Have to Say You Love Me - Dusty Springfield made me smile and laugh. I thought she was black when I heard her as a kid. That's kinda racist?
Why Don't We Do It in the Road? Beatles
Cake, Stripes, Ben Folds, and Bruce are all $$. Well done.
My grievances with Doc are....
1) Stevie Tune sounds really compressed. I'm still not past being burned out on him also. Switch the version.
2) The Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover isnso bad it's almost comical. HUGE disappointment.
3) Spotify SUXOR!
4)That early contry song was awful! Bellow?
Oh, and never even listened to my own mix yet - that is the terrible version of "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover" - not sure why they say it's Paul Simon. It clearly is not. Let me see if I can change that out.I'm finishing Dr. Octopus now and it's really good. On a side note why can't I use the back button after I already heard a tune?

I did not. Will peep.Did you see there's a new Guv'na record out? I figured they were long done. haven't heard it yet, but I am bicurious.

thanks Mr E... should be Gil Scott-Heron- Home is where the hatred is@El Floppo - Can you point out the change for me?
It also looks like you are missing a Round 20 pick too.
Thanks!
tbh- your taste sucks.![]()
After reading a couple of your reviews of some other mixes I knew you were going to hate mine. No worries--thanks for giving it a listen.

I can see how those 2 songs and the Taking Back Sunday jump out as being out of style. Thought process was all songs about bad relationships or relationships gone bad. The kind of songs you'd stay up all night drinking too. I wanted a little more variety and energy in the mix so that's where the Hotelier and TBS come in- the furious anger that a heartbreak can bring.Dr. Octopus said:My next list was @Ilov80s mix:
I really appreciate his eclectic tastes and really really enjoyed this mix. I will likely listen to this one again when I want to drink some whiskey or wine and relax. I will however skip over two songs that didn't really fit the mood of the mix, and frankly I just didn't like - the Hotelier and BJ the Chicago Kid tracks.
Why Do Fools Fall in Love? should get move love than it does historically.
The mix also helped reaffirm the musical genius of Tom Waits, Jack White and Bob Dylan. Man, those guys can write songs and their vocals may not be pristine but they sure are identifiable and memorable.
I spotted this white cat for the first time at the end of January when I was at the colony later than usual. It was running through the storage units lot, and I didn't see it again until recently when I have been out there late again. Evidentally it has been coming out at night. I saw white cat last week right before dark trying to eat the feral food, but one of the ferals (Jamie) chased it off. I spotted white cat again Sunday night at 7:30 slipping through a fence behind the liquor store, and then strolling towards the cat shack. It ran when it saw me. Monday I decided to set a trap behind the liquor store to see if it would come out again around that time. I sat in my car keeping my head low so it wouldn't spot me.I've spotted a mysterious white cat three times in the last month. It runs when it sees me. I don't know if it is a dump off or what. I pray it is a male. If it keeps coming around, I'll eventually have to try and trap it, but it has to form a pattern for me to do that.
Are you going to place any bets in the NCAA Tourney while you're there?JZilla said:Will get a few more in today but then I'm mostly ghostly for four days. Vegas!

Interesting. I thought somebody told me they are like Phish and live is the way to go. Maybe I was misunderstanding them and they just meant you had to see them live. What album(s) should I start with?PIK95 said:In this case the studio is $$
