1-3.  Could go a bunch of ways here but this has high snipe potential. I'll add link when I'm not using phone.

Van Halen- Hot for Teacher

spotify:track:6QDbGdbJ57Mtkflsg42WV5
Looks like I can't copy/paste links anymore- no longer an option on free version.

You can use this link...

https://open.spotify.com/track/6QDbGdbJ57Mtkflsg42WV5

If you continually get a link like yours above, you might be able to edit it to make it work; change the ':' to '/' with an 'https://' at the beginning.

It was hard deciding which way to go with the start of the draft here, but @Eephus has been making me think about the flow of these mixes.  There is one song on my mix that is the only one that I think will be sniped, but I have a backup plan and a song that I think will fit almost as well.  This one, however, I think fits the end of the mix a little better and will be missed more.

Here starts our lesson in Chemistry.  More specifically the elemental building blocks:

1.2:  THE B-52'S - PRIVATE IDAHO

LINK

Keep off the path, beware of the gate
Watch out for signs that say "hidden driveways"
Don't let the chlorine in your eyes
Blind you to the awful surprise
That's been waitin' for you at
The bottom of the bottomless blue, blue, blue pool
Interesting, I was planning for the song to the itself to refer to the class, not a specific lyric. Cool to have varying approaches.

Nope, the song is the focus either way you do it - either by song title or lyric.  Doesn't even matter if the song is "about" that topic.   Looking at my list, I think only 6/10 are using the titles of songs.

What we can't do is make a selection based on the band/artist - ie for my last selection, I could Not have taken a random song by the band Chlorine (unless the song also mentioned an element).

I thought this would open things up a bit if we included lyrics.  Like I said, IMO this can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be.  So the song I took could also be used for Geography (Idaho in the title) or Anatomy (eyes in the lyrics).

Downing some drinks while watching the Blue Jays?
local junior hockey team (Peterborough Petes) game 1 of round 2 of the playoffs tonight (they won   ). I had two tall cans there and finishing a third here back at home but I have been eating like a healthy person and as a result not drinking much the past couple weeks, so the 2.75 beers have given me a nice buzz and now I'm in that sweet place where I want ALL THE BEER and to listen to loud music.

The thing with tonight is unless I've messed up the dates, I'm pretty sure at midnight there will be new albums by The New Pornographers, Future Islands and Father John Misty for me to listen to...

That's the danger zone for me.  2 never feels like enough, and 3 usually leads to about 8.

I'm listening to an amazing ####### song by a band I'm seeing Saturday night and I want to paste and italicize all the lyrics but I'm pretty sure it's my finale for my forthcoming mix in here so I can't #blueballs.

My theme is just the graduation requirements/schedule of classes that a typical student at my high school would go through.

3 math classes

3 science classes

4 social studies classes

4 English classes

Art

Gym

Health

3 electives

Depending on how things go, I may be more specific with the classes- eg. instead of science, actually break into biology, physics and chem to match the actual classes they take.
You need a driver's ed class.

And if you'd 'a took to me like a gull takes to the wind.
Well, I'd 'a jumped from my tree
And I'd 'a danced like the king of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

... you all know these lyrics but can't place it right?

Round 1.4  Cheyenne Anthem  (Kansas)

Class  -  Indians of the Plains

From the mountains to the sun, Life has only just begun. We wed this land and pledge our souls to meet its end,Life has only just begunHere my people roam the earth, in the kingdom of our birth,Where the dust of all our horses hides the sunWe are mighty on the earth, on the earthYou have come to move me, take me from my ancient home,Land of my fathers I can't leave you nowWe will share it with you, no man owns this earth we're onNow the wheels are rolling hear the howling winds of warIt's my destiny to fight and dieIs there no solution, can we find no other way, Lord let me stayUnder the endless sky and the earth belowHere I was born to live and I will never go, oh noBut we cannot endure like the earth and the mountainsLife is not ours to keep, for a new sun is risingSoon these days shall pass away, for our freedom we must payAll our words and deeds are carried on the wind,In the ground our bodies lay, here we lay

1.05  The  Smiths - The Headmaster Ritual

Belligerent ghouls

Run Manchester schools

Spineless swines

Cemented minds

Sir leads the troops

Jealous of youth

Same old suit since nineteen sixty two

He does the military two-step down

The nape of my neck

I want to go home

I don't want to stay

Give up education

As a bad mistake

Mid-week on the playing fields

Sir thwacks you on the knees

Knees you in the groin

Elbow in the face

Bruises bigger than dinner plates

I want to go home

I don't want to stay

Da-da-da

Da-da-da

Da-da-da

Da-da-da

Da-da-da

Da-da-da

Da-da-da

Belligerent ghouls

Run Manchester schools

Spineless bastards all

Sir leads the troops

Jealous of youth

Same old jokes since nineteen- oh- two

He does the military two-step down

The nape of my neck

I want to go home

I don't want to stay

Give up life

As a bad mistake

Please excuse me from gym

I've got this terrible cold coming on

He grabs and devours

He kicks me in the showers

Kicks me in the showers

And he grabs and devours

I want to go home

I don't want to stay

@Mr. Ected is up.

One of the required texts in the course I'm looking at is called Yo Mama’s Dysfunctional: Fighting the Culture Wars in Urban America by Robin D.G. Kelley.  Someone's been branching out.

The speed of the response and the precision to the theme tells me @The Dreaded Marco has this one nailed down...
I've been sitting in a hospital room for 10+ hours a day for the past 4 days with not much else to do but listen to music.  I think I've got a decent mix set with a central theme.  Not sure yet where everyone is going with themes but I've got a bit of room for sniping.

I've chosen my theme so that I will probably not be sniped for a change.  It's really very relaxing.

I will be shocked if I get sniped but I think I will turn people on to great songs/bands they haven't heard before. Yes, this obviously means I'm going full Canadian for this one. Thank Me Later (that's a Drake album... he's from Toronto... he won't be on my mix, too mainstream).

New Slang. The Shins. One of my favorites, ever. Every time I ate fries that summer, I inevitably wound up with dirt on them (we had a snack shack outside of work with no seating but really good grilled food), and my buddy and I would revel in our grease and food and misummer beer and easy job and just enjoy life. I always hummed that song. It was 2002, IIRC.

Sorry for the delay.

Doing mine based on a set of 5 classes for 4 quarters...So Quarter 1...Going with a History Class

1.07 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday - U2

From Wikipedia...
One of U2's most overtly political songs, its lyrics describe the horror felt by an observer of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, mainly focusing on the Bloody Sunday incident in Derry where British troops shot and killed unarmed civil rights protesters and bystanders who were there to rally against Operation Demetrius-related internment (imprisonment without trial), while at the same time rejecting hate and revenge as a response noted in the lyrics, "There's many lost, but tell me who has won."

Keep me on skip while I'm sick as a dog, there may be some gaps checking in.  If someone who has my info wanted to text or email that would be appreciated
