MOP's rants about everything! (1 Viewer)

Jesus, 13 pages already? Can someone give me the short version of everything I've missed? I last checked when it was on page one. TIA!

Short version?

Well, you see, it happened that there were times, in, let's just say, the past, when such things had occurred that had led to, for brevity's sake, we shall call situations, in which the particular interpersonal relationships, between two people, and sometimes more, became such things that one like himself has since had occasion to look back upon with regret. While not everything that was ever done in such times and in such manners were, exactly, let's just say, handled in what one would later deem to be perfectly adapted responses, one feels that oneself has had some matter of, let's just say, some kind of personal growth through said such experiences, the perspective gained has allowed one to hopefully aim to make a better version of oneself for the future. It is through such a lens that one could then, maybe, perchance happen to find such a standing point upon which to forthwith become sanguine and thence, could be, perhaps used as an example for which others might find learned some difficult life lessons. Not that those events, difficult as they are to deal with, are something with which oneself wants to find oneself frequently reminded, for those times still remain blurry and it is not in the best interest of oneself to delve deeply into those such depths as to relate such things to others. One finds himself having paid bitterly for such events having had happened and although one was not a victim of anything other than one's own doings, and with himself blame for such does surely reside within to completeness, such lonely times are better left undiscussed as one would rather not have himself live through them again, but one does find oneself still inspired to use himself as an example unto others for such that they may learn such by sake of his own example rather through their own, let's say, dark personal experiences for that they should avoid having to have such experiences on their own. Such that, while starting from such a basic proposition as having aimed at, perhaps, beginning with say, maybe, eight-grade mathematics lessons, after a time, one feels that he himself may rise through the ladder of academia and, perhaps, one daresay be known as a particularly influential college professor who's personal understandings of such things as life and the perspective one has upon it through his own personal experiences, may then rise himself to become the inspiration for what he feels is exactly what this particular country might find it is a position to be in need of, both now and, obviously, for it goes without saying as there is a necessarily long road of time to be ascertained that all this may take as such, in the distant, but not too-far distant future, for one still wishes to partake himself of said such opportunities, that, his particular worldview having come so perfectly to encapsulate the understandings of those to which he has such enamored himself, a true Third Party, and not just another Tea Party but a real third party to which the various peoples of this country will come to understand as a new and vital instrument of American politics, shall be raised under him for himself to lead and show the way, having had such learnings to draw from himself to help so many others. As from his unique perspective he finds himself particularly qualified to take on such issues as wealth redistribution, and certainly is much more qualified than the current political apparatus is inclined to act, but this is all such that will be revealed to you and to the others at a later time, as such that right now is maybe not the best time for himself to make such aspirations publicly known. Suffice it to say, one does find within himself a certain calling, to rant upon the world in his own particular idiom, and finds that perhaps the best thing one could do with himself having come to understand this as himself, is to find a nice academic position and philosophize grandly from his own experiences and publish from time to time as he finds himself found fit, for his understanding of the underlying underpinnings is from such a unique perspective that the whole machinery shall be laid bare by his own deconstructions. And certainly one can find himself in a particular academic setting from within which such pontifications are the norm, and he shall easily ingratiate himself into such fold that the intelligentsia and the literati will recognize him as one of the pillars of their kind. Obviously.

A PhD in what?
A good question with a very long answer, again all in good time. Let's say I want to develop a 3rd Party in this country, something much different than the Tea Party and certainly not the same as the DNC/GOP in charge right now. Wealth redistribution would be a simple summary but again we will discuss that more later. I could back off and just get a master's but really there is no point in that. Long term I want to teach at the college level so I am going to have to be published or they won't want me, at least how I understand it.

I see myself as professor at a University at some point in my life, that would make me very happy. Something I can do as long as I desire and allows me the freedom to speak my craziness in front of a captive audience.
As adjunct faculty at a major university.....I am IN!!!!1

I pretty much enjoy every episode of Two Broke Girls. :bag:
Watched it for the first time..I laughed.
Grandmaster level comedy.

1. Joke

1a. Laugh track

2. Punchline

2a. Laugh track

3. Witty pop reference

3a. Laugh track

4. Explanation of the punch line

4a. Laugh track

5. Repeat 1-5

Then I killed myself for having sat through a single joke to completion, completely flaccid.

I never thought about the fact that there are people with the last name Billy.

That would be cool if they got married to someone with the last name Hill, and had a hyphenated name.

I always hoped the late Sonny Bono had married Yoko Ono and they adopted Bono of U2, than they would have been the Bono-Ono-Bono Project.

True story. Don King was charged for two separate murders 13 years apart. The first was ruled justifiable homicide for shooting a man attempting to rob one of his gambling houses. He was convicted of second degree murder the second time, when he stomped an employee to death who owed him $600 (I forgot that part - note to self, don't borrow money from Don King), but the judge later reduced the sentence to non-negligent homicide (!!!) for which he served four years in prison. He was pardoned by the Ohio state governor (makes you wonder if he got some gambling "tips" later?). Here is my question. How do you conduct a police lineup with Don King?
KCRW eclectic 24 stream just started playing Concierto De Aranjuez. Freaky that it coincided with me hitting your post.

Reasons I celebrate Valentines Day on the 13th:

I can buy 2 dozen roses for $50, not $150 a day later.

Hallmark isn't the boss of me.

I don't have to make dinner reservations 6 weeks in advance. I also don't have to go for some half ###, overpriced, price fixed menu that sucks!

Highly recommend getting your S/O on the 13th schedule

8th grade, we're not even into Algebra yet, maybe pre-Algebra
I took pre-algebra in 7th grade, algebra in 8th, and geometry in 9th. That was some years ago, I don't know your school system, but I am guessing this still holds true for many.
algebra in 6th, calculus in 8th.

Some guy who was on a motorcycle tour to find the Mexican beach featured on Shawshank Redemption came up missing. Shocking.
Saw this on the news... They said he was trying to ride to the southern tip of South America. Dude is most likely dead, they had the mom on and she was obviously hysterical, real sad.

Personally I wouldn't travel anywhere in Mexico outside of Playa Del Carmen at this point.
I would say that applies to any central or South American country. Had a friend murdered in Brazil.

Some people are so stupid they deserve what they get... The streets of NY are covered in ice and snow. This morning I'm walking on the sidewalk and there is a woman with one of those gigantic knee braces, from just above the ankle to above mid thigh. She is using crutches to walk. Normally, I would have sympathy for someone like this, but when the moron is wearing 4 inch high heels, well I think she deserves it.

The school interview went well, I spoke with the Asst Principal and the lead teacher, this is a charter school and set up a little different than a regular public school. It used to be owned by the archdiocese and Don Shula's name was on the side of the building I walked into.

It went well, I asked good questions, knew what their rating was "B" and asked how they planned on moving up to an "A" level or what I could do to help them achieve that. The AP was very impressed with my ability to present and speak, no reservations she said about me taking over any of the social studies for the 8th and 9th…I thought it was US History but its World History which is still fun but I would need to brush up a little on some of different eras. Pre-Algebra is about as advanced a math class as I would teach.

The school itself is pretty old but from the 3rd floor where I would be, you can see out on to Biscayne Bay, how many teachers have a water view? I asked for us to take a tour and we walked by the class that I would take over for the rest of the year. Kids were not in their seat, it looked like a zoo, not good. Then next door was the teacher who originally met me and recommended to the higher ups. That classroom was run with precision, the children all said hello to me in unison when I walked in the door, that made me smile right away. It was like night and day what was going on in these two classrooms so I asked if I were to be offered a position if I could team up with her and implement something close to what she is doing, obviously it works. Her kids were polite and the learning environment looked like it was made for success in there.

They asked if I wanted to meet the principal and take this to the 2nd level, I said I thought that's what we were doing and they smiled. So we are setting up a 2nd round of interviews, the down side is they want to do it as a temp and the pay is only about $80 a day which is well below anything I am used to making but it would give me a huge leg up in getting a yearly contract from them for the Fall next year and then I would be paid according to standards set by the county. I do have some testing and certain certifications I would have to have along the way but nothing too painful.

We'll see what happens but so far so good. They liked my upfront talk about classroom management, learning environment, and also I focused and talked about the FCAT and asked them to show me examples of what the money was being used for. They put in astroturf for the kids to play on outside…IN FLORIDA! They know though that I know this is a business despite being a school and if you don't do well on the standardized tests you ain't getting as much money for the school. I made sure I let them know I understood all that.

On the way home I discovered a company around the corner from my house that definitely needs my services in sales and consulting so even if the teaching doesn't happen until Fall, I think I will have plenty to keep me busy till then. Company I am with now is relocating to Texas, good for them and bon voyage.
