Movies you can't wait to watch with your kids (1 Viewer)

Was just thinking about how cool it is going to be to watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy with my daughter when she's older. She's totally into things like swords and ninjas and horses so she is going to love the movies.

My dad has only ever recommended two movies to me. When we were watching Great Outdoors back on the old VCR he said "You should get Blazing Saddles." We didn't of course because what the #### would Mr. Businessman know about comedy. Huge mistake obviously. When we finally did get around to see it we laughed so hard you'd have thought we were a bunch of Kansas City ######s.

The other one he recommended was The Sting. Another absolutely awesome movie. I think he recommended this one when we were watching The Usual Suspects.

So which movies from your past are you looking forward to watching with you kids? Off the top of my head I'm thinking:

Ferris Buehler's Day Off

Dumb and Dumber

The Usual Suspects

Star Wars.

Started to work in Ep4 on my 3yo son and he was good through Obiwan and Luke meeting. Then it was bed time. He likes Rebels so there is hope.

This year I tried the FX version of Stepbrothers with my nine year old. Only made it through the first ten minutes before I had to change it. Maybe next week.

My oldest son is 11 and thanks to the Percy Jackson book series, he's really into mythology. About a month ago we watched the original Clash of the Titans. He was very amused by the "crappy" looking skeletons, but loved the movie.

Looking forward to when I can introduce him to Caddyshack, Animal House, blues Brothers, Stripes, etc.

For the most part, your kids are not going to laugh at movies made thirty or forty years ago. Comic sensibilities change over time. There may be a handful of older comedies they enjoy.

My oldest son is totally obsessed with star wars now.

Loves Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Storm Troopers, General Greivous. He is looking at nearly a total Christmas domiated by Star Wars tomorrow.

The kids, now 16 & 18 LOVED Monty Python and The Holy Grail, but hated The Meaning of Life. Next up, The Kentucky Fried Movie is on Amazon Prime. My son and I are going to try and watch it over vacation.

Watched Home Alone with our four year old last night. He loved it and handled the more creepy/violent moments very well. However, traps have been setup throughout our house all morning.

my five yr old loved the first LOTR. He knew all the characters from playing the lego game. He wasnt scared which i thought he would be.

My dad showed me all the 3 Stooges, Little Rascals and Marx Brothers movies and I loved them and re watched them multiple times. They were over 50 years old.

Anal Cavity Search 6

It stars Sasha Grey, Jenna Haze, and a long list of other amazing actresses. Great performances in this one. Timeless classic, imo.

You're the minority. Most kids won't find these movies interesting.

Transformers was probably the most exited I was to take my son to a movie. Saying "Optimus Prime" in unison in the theater was too cool.

I've been meaning to watch "The Jerk" with my kids. My wife and I would quote that movie a lot over the years, and the kids never really understood. Now that they're older, it seems we never have time to watch movies. (should have done it when they were 10)

That is on the agenda for tomorrow after we open presents.

My kids loved both Home Alone movies this year. 1 and 2.

We watched Christmas Vacation with them as well. There is a lot more swearing in that one than I remembered. "Don't piss me off Art."

Field of Dreams
right on bromigo that is a great one
My entire family's favorite movie. We're a baseball family, and as the only son, it holds a special connection with my father and I.

My oldest son, who is now 4, was born in November. His first Christmas, when only a month old, Field of Dreams was on television that night. He was fussy and mom was understandably tired. I grabbed a bottle and watch it in the rocking chair with him sleeping on my lap. I'll never forget that.

Oh, and take that to the bank.

Anyone who has seen the hobbit movies 1 and 2, are they age appropriate for 6.5 and 5.5 year old boys? They have seen the first 3 Star Wars (eps 4,5,6). Thinking of letting them watch it on Xmas with the older cousins but haven't seen them

Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Kids are 12 and 10 so probably a few more years til we enjoy this one together.

My daughters are huge horror movie fans. They have seen them all with the exception of the original Halloween and the Exorcist. I told them, those were the two that I just said were too scary (they are my #1 and #2 scariest movies on my list) . Plus just too much adult content for me to edit out--which usually consists of me telling them to cover their eyes with a pillow and the wife and I yelling"La La La" over the bad parts (God, I need a life)

So this year at Halloween (kids are now 10 and 15) I said, let's do the Exorcist. I had to edit a few scenes, but the movie gets over and my kids look at me like "That's it? That movie scared you?" I was disappointed......

Watching the first Die Hard with my son (Christmas movie!!!) and he is freaking that the bad guy is Snape. :Spoiler Alert:

Awesome. You took the mask off I hope. I have a similar memory of my daughter falling asleep on my chest by our Christmas tree when she was 8 days old.

For that one time, yes, I took the mask off.

My daughter and I watched Children of the Corn on Halloween. She just laughed.

I've had Sandlot on the DVR for a while and finally watched it with them a few days ago. They both loved it (ages 7 and 5). I had to replay the getting the ball back scene and dog chase multiple times. My son was laughing his ### off when the two teams were calling each other names. Probably going to watch Home Alone today or tomorrow.
