Fake Plastic Trees was brilliant and to this day, still resonates, if not even more poignant now. You can see it almost everywhere you go.

To still be able to hear and feel the desolation every time I listen to that song, 3 decades later, is pretty incredible to me.

Tough call me for.

brownstone, I never really even liked...so thats an easy exclusion.

The other three...close for me. There are so many other Radiohead tunes i prefer- even though i like Trees- so it knocks the tune down a little for me.

So..between Rubberband and Loser.

While i think Rubberband has better legs, even though the repetition of "rubberband" in the lyrics made it a kind of goofy meme when i was a kid, I gave the nod to Loser...mostly because it was the auspicious announcement/arrival of pretty cool artist and the song would always get everybody bopping at the bar.

Loser for me and not terribly close (though I do like Radiohead). Loser was a near anthem when I was a kid.

I’ll always remember Jack, down the hall from us in the dorm, blasting loser and NIN’s animal on full blast on repeat for a full day after his girlfriend dumped him. His roommate said he was okay, but we weren’t really buying it.

I agree with consensus on that best song but Loser deserves more love. Maybe we need rank polling lol
To me, a lot of this comes down to age demographic. Loser was a big song growing up for me in the 90s as a teenager. The Rubberband Man wasn't even a song I had heard of until I was older.

Fake Plastic Trees is obviously great but not as mainstream as Loser was for teenagers in the 90s where 20 somethings were probably dialed in. G&R, which I did listen to, was probably also more of an older demographic.

Yep 100%. Rubberband Man for me was a song I found later in life. Loser hit me when I was in middle school and was very formative. GnR was good but my age Brownstone was a bit of a deeper cut, the only people really hip to that were people with siblings 4-6 years older. Radiohead hit right in high school. So yeah you are right demos are big here.

I had actually never listened to or heard of Mr. Brownstone and Fake Plastic Trees until I did for this list. I've always liked Loser and never heard Rubberband Man until GotG. I'm not a huge Radiohead fan and I like the GNR song and GNR in general but Rubberband Man is just a catchy song and I like the story behind it but Zow is generally correct that age/repetition has alot to do with the art we like.

I remember when my buddy showed up to the bus stop with a cassette tape of Appetite…..blew me away. Heavy, and sleazy. Mr Brownstone is a great track from the album. It perfectly sums up G n’ R debauchery. So that’s my pick. I think that album changed rock and roll in that moment in time.

of course, I buck the trend since I'm younger than y'all but I like the oldest song but I've listened to Rubberband Man/Loser several time before so....
Age?

I'm 42.
oh. 41 We did a poll awhile ago and it seemed most people round here are in the 50's so yeah...but we are close in age.
Yeah for years I was considered one of the youngest guys here and figured about our age is the end of the message board era.

Wait what? They way you talk about movies/shows/music around here had me thinking you were like 28.

Yep, I’m 43. Not many here who post regularly younger than us.
