My season is shot...fire sale pending (1 Viewer)

I am in a keep 2 league. We play double-headers and I've fallen to 3-9. I am 5 games out of a playoff spot. I am the lowest scoring team in the league. I whiffed on Randy Moss, Hines Ward, and Peyton Manning.

Being a keep 2, most of the top Running back talent is gone. I am looking for next season's Frank Gore.

My list so far of targets includes:

Jerious Norwood

Jerome Harrison

Ladell Betts

TJ Duckett

Brandon Jacobs

Chris Brown

Dominc Davis

Michael Turner

Musa Smith

Ricky Williams???

Please help me rank these. Also feel free to add anybody I may have missed that would be a bye-cheap and benefit next season type of guy.

wrong forum, but ill answer anyway.

who are your RB's? if you have a decent RB 1, you can just keep him and manning for next year.

Unless your trade deadline is apoproaching, there is no way i would hold a fire-sale yet.You havent whiffed on Peyton. Hines Ward is coming around. Randy Moss could blow up at any point. All the guys you have listed are guys I wouldnt being going after anyway. With only a 2 keeper, you need to keep studs. You cant hope guys will come around. If uoi are sure gonna blow it up...you give up Manning/Moss/Ward/any RB together and get the studliest player you can.And yes, this is the wrong forum

I would try to keep Brandon Jacobs and Michael Turner. I'd also keep tabs on Dom Davis, but I think his career is probably over.

Not realling asking specifically about my team. Just wondering who some of the below-the-radar type guys are.

This is an auction format so these are players that are cheap right now. Similar to Gore this past season where he was like a $12 guy instead of a $30 guy.

Guys like Brandon Jacobs and TJ Duckett aren't worth a whole lot right now. But if Tiki retires and Ducket goes to Denver for instance, they have significant upgrades in value.

I'm not sure how cheap he is, but Turner is definitely a guy to stash away.

As has been discussed quite a bit, it would take a lot to pry Turner from the Chargers, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Any discussion of this type has to include Maurice Drew.

There were talks that Taylor could have been released up until Greg Jones's injury.

Im not advocating that Taylor wont be back in '07, but on the chance that he isnt, Drews value would skyrocket and likely land in the top 12. I dont think another player you have listed has that chance. Turner has the talent, but he is stuck behind LT and in SD. Musa could win the job outright. Harrison could step up and win a job and maybe Norwood. Jacobs only if Tiki retires, not buying into that yet. Any could be traded into a good situation. Though doubtful for all of 'em.

Talent wise... all five are close. But opportunity has to be part of the equation.

Drew

Norwood

Musa

Jacobs

Harrison

If your keeping any of those guys on that list in a keep 2 league your team will suck ever more next year.

In a keep 2 you should hope to get tier 1 players, not a bunch of marginal longshots.

You guys aren't understanding his question very well.

He isn't saying that is his team...he is asking which of these relatively cheap and unknown talents he should try to get in trade negotiations (taking a hit this year to obtain these guys for the future).

Of that list I would target B Jacobs with the story circulating that Tiki will retire at the end of this year, and then I would target M Drew, M Turner, J Norwood.

If I attained any of those guys, they would still probably not make my keeper list.

You are better off keeping Peyton.

If you are in a 12 team, 2 keeper...easy math here, 24 players are kept.

I cant imagine how Brandon Jacobs or Dom Davis, or for that matter Drew make it as a keeper.

You keep your studs. You dont keep "maybe future studs".

Understand it completely. He is asking which of those guys he should trade for as a possible keeper next year. The answer is that none of those guys will be a legitimate keeper next year in a keep 2 league.Even if Tiki retires Jacobs will still be way too much of a gamble to have as one of his 2 keepers.Same with the other guys.Does anyone anticipate any of those guys on that list being drafted in the top 2 rounds next year? I sure don't. They might be solid, but have way too many questions to be looked at as a legitimate keeper in a 2 keep league.Bottom line, if he's keeping any of those guys next year he's in serious trouble.

Probably because it's unlikely he'd be getting Maroney "cheap."
Depends on who the owner has for keepers. I am not saying he will be cheap but he will be much cheaper now then next year if Dillon isn’t around. The other owner can only keep two. If he has his two keepers he would probably be willing to trade for a Manning or someone that can help his team in the playoffs.

your a tool for not reading the question correctly as a matter of fact its a good topicas for the question jacobs and turner on that list would be the targets

Strictly those guys:

Turner & Jacobs (if Tiki really retires)

However, I would be making some trades if I were you. Right now.

It is an auction though. These players can be had for dang near the league minimum, thus freeing up my cash to put towards the other good players that will need to be cut. For instance, one owner has Deuce, Westbrook and Tiki. Can't very well keep all of them can he? For instance, this league had Rudi Johnson in the non-kept pool this season. His owner thought he had better value in other players so he just rebid on Rudi and ended up paying $4 more for him. Not a big loss to him as he had Roy Williams for $2 and he'd have needed to pay a lot more than $6 for Roy.

Working on it right now. So far today I traded Lamont Jordan (his salary accelerates to $25 next season from $2 this season due to an obscure rule we have) for Jerious Norwood (his salary is $2 and will be through the 2008 season) All of the players I listed are similar. They have low low low salaries and don't accelerate. Right now I do have Chester Taylor as one keeper at $7 (salary goes up in the 2008 season). But I don't want this to turn into a thread about my league specifically so I left some details vague.

Vagye details indeed. How can we answer a question when all you say is it a 2 keeper league? No mention of auction values or anything. This is why it belongs in thr ACF. So you can get into more detail and get the answers you need.Without knowing what the above mentioned players have for an auction value, and what the other teams in the league have for available players...well, we are blindly answering an unanswerable question.I will gladly go over to the ACF because it seems like an interesting dilemma you have.Startegy wise is it best to keep very cheap value guys, or to keep expensive studs?

Jacobs could be a monster if Tiki retires after this year. He is the guy I'd target.

Turner would be a stud as well, but I believe he's a RFA & will cost too much for a team to trade for him. It looks like another year behind LT.
