National Anthem before an event (1 Viewer)

The Cavs got this right and I'm sure others have done the same, but the crowd singing the National  Anthem before a game vs. some celebrity or some local person is so much cooler and gives the fans a real opportunity (and almost the obligation) to join in.

I personally would like to see this be the only way the National Anthem is sung - as a group with no music or person on a microphone singing over the crowd.

Good job Cavs.

What is your problem?

I said I like national anthem being sung by the crowd. If you hate America, it's your right I guess.
you realize we are probably bombing some third world village in the name of anti-terrorism over faulty intelligence as we speak.

I don't the think hating America and thinking that it's kind of silly we sing the anthem before sports are mutually inclusive

Maybe.

But you have the right to complain about our actions, we still provide more freedom than most countries and our poor have more opportunity than most countries.   If you think elsewhere is better, either work to make our country better, leave, or deal with it.

This took a direction I didn't intend.

I really just wanted to say I like the national anthem sang by the crowd like they did before game 4 at the Cavs. And then zed felt compelled to come at me personally for some reason.

I'd like the thread to go back to the original post. And zed,you probably shouldn't drive tonight either from the sounds of it.

I like it on occasion but not if it became the new normal.  I like local singers singing the anthem before games, which usually happens in minor league hockey and other leagues.  I don't like the taped versions.

you are right, they are always spot on.
No one is 100% correct.  But they are an very high % of the time.  Which is why when they do get bad Intel or make mistakes it gets a lot of national attention.  Not everyone can be perfect and spot on like you.

I like the national anthem before games, and I like the crowd singing it as well. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but at the end of the day, the people pay to see the event more than hearing the singer.

I usually hum a few bars before I make love to a woman, then give her a little extra oomph during "the bombs bursting in air".

particularly big fan when the anthem is punctuated by a flyover in a show of our military might

plus, if there's a terrorist in the crowd those guys can put a heat seeking missile right up his ### in a blink

Do kids still do this in school?  Is it all grades or just some?  Do most kids participate?

Simply curious.
My 5 year old daughter is in private pre-school (is there public pre-school? I don't know) and she was proud to have learned it and I was proud of her for learning it.

If you (not you as in you @captain_amazingbut you in general now) have an issue with the pledge (and are not Jehovah's Witness or some other religious objection) and/or national anthem.... why are you here? There are plenty of other countries in this world and it doesn't take a 6 month boat ride to get to them anymore.

Just go. Drop off our passport at the American embassy at wherever elsewhere you prefer when you get there. Just go now.

Really, what is it about American flags, anthems, and pledges that seem to upset a small fanatic segment of our population off?  The logical conclusion from a person outside of that group is that they hate what America stands for.  But would be interested at hearing what they think triggers this emotional response.

Perhaps you could explain how America stands for anthems, pledges, and flags?
You have it backwards. America does not stand for those things.  Those are symbols which represent things like freedom and justice which are a cenral part of what most Americans feel has made America great.
