NBA BTTF III - Draft Over! War of attrition underway... (1 Viewer)

1.22 Derrick Rose

He was awful last year, he was awful in the FIBA stuff, and he hasn't been consistently healthy in years. The upside is he is only 25 years old, still looks every bit the athlete he was when he won the MVP, and the Bulls should be really good this year. It is really hard to find a legitimate super star this late in the draft, but its possible Rose could become that again. I don't see much of a middle ground with this pick, either he is going to be a steal at 22 or one of the biggest flops in the first round.

Kawhi is ridiculously awesome on a per-minute basis. I wouldn't feel great about my first-round pick playing 28 minutes per game, but if Pop ever let him play normal starter minutes he'd be a monster.

tre cornering the market on overrated wings.
Klay was a reach, but Leonard was a 96 defensively last year and hes bound to improve the rest of his game. His WIS salary/Minute played was as high as anybody, other than the top half dozen players.

Klay may have been a reach, but he wasn't going to make it back to me. Excited for 40+% from three and some decent mins at SG with not terrible D there. Now the issue becomes finding some bigs, but at least its a different issue than I've had in the past.

2.03 Marc Gasol

He's been a model of health in his career, until last year, and he plays a ton of minutes for a big man. This is about as unsexy of a pick as I could have made, but I think his high floor will help hedge against Rose's concerns a bit.

That's that big I would have taken if I had gone the boring route (kawhi/gasol), so we'll see how much I screwed myself by not doing that.

I agree, plus it gives you a guy you root for, which makes this all a bit more fun. My biggest issue both seasons of this has been a lack of minutes, so I can appreciate somebody that is almost guaranteed something close to 3000 minutes.

Yeah, its really not a pick I'm excited about and I feel like he's better in real life than the sim, but bigs seem to have gone quick in the 2nd and 3rd rounds in the past so I was worried about having to band-aid my bigs together.

DeAndre Jordan C

Solid work on the turn guys.
Damn you. Was hoping he'd make it back and while I know you're a big fan of players like him, I was hoping with Noah already on board you'd pass.
Yeah, the issue with taking both Jordan and Noah is that neither is likely to avg. more than 11 or 12 points a game. I'll take 20+ pts. 20+ rebs. 5+ ast. and 3+ blocks from my starting PF/C combo though. Generally speaking I think points are the easiest gap to make up in this.

JMON OTC, I don't have contact info. Assume we just give him the next Laker? He could probably literally build the Lakers in this...
